I was so hyped for the release, knew everything that got cut, and I still liked the game. It's easy to have big dreams, but honestly computers in general were weaker when it came out 8 years ago, and it would have been a nightmare if the game were any bigger than it already was.
The only thing I missed a lot were the underwater phase, between being a cell and walking on land, and having a "sandbox" form of each level (like, I could play as a cell consuming other cells for hours and hours, I hate that it literally forces you to move on to the next stage)
Also, the DRM on the physical discs was the worst DRM ever ever ever and I hate it so much wow. I installed it the max amount of times and now I have to call customer service or some shit to get the disc to work again

World of Zoo, which seems to be a very cartoony zoo tycoon 2
Wildlife Park, which looks to be te most zoo tycoon like of them, even has extinct animal expansions n shit
Wildlife park 2, which looks the most like zoo tycoon 2 of anything on there, same thing with the dinosaur and marine expansions n shit
and there's also wildlife park 3, which you should avoid unless you love bad camera controls and micromanagement/excessive realism.
Read that you have to keep trees and plants alive, too. and animals will get spooked by jeep tours and shit.

Ghost Trick isn't specifically about animals but some of the main characters are animals. It's pretty gud and rather underrated

I remember the jaguars and leopards in the original zoo tycoon were fucking impossible to please. I eventually gave up on completing the challenge campaign because those writhe bitches would never be satisfied even when their exhibit was perfect.
