/adv/ - This may be a weird problem, but I have no clue how to deal with people who mumble.

I can't stand it though. I hate talking to other adults who can't enunciate their words. I usually just say, "Please, stop mumbling I can't hear you" and they always get really offended.

I'm already someone who is a bit of a social recluse, how tf are you supposed to talk to people if they can't project what they are saying in a way that doesn't sound like garbled nonsense.

For politeness sake, just say 'I don't hear well, could you speak louder?'
So it doesn't sound like you're blaming them, even if they're the ones speaking too soft.

You're supposed to say "I'm sorry, could you repeat that a little louder".

Don't just assume that it's the other person's fault.
Maybe they're not mumbling, maybe you're just hard of hearing?
Most people speak kind of quietly, don't cast the blame onto someone else when there's a miscommunication- that's rude.

Pretty much this. Mumblers always think they're talking perfectly fine. A long time ago my little brother used to be a horrible Mumbler and had no clue why no one understood him. Then he went to the ear doctor who ended up cleaning out a million kilos of ear wax out of his ears and he finally started talking at a normal volume

this. you sound like an asshole because you assume yours is the particular way to talk. the worldi s diverse and peopel speak differently for different reasons. sure some are just stupidly mumbling. but some are not.

just say 'im hard of hearing, could you speak louder?' and they will eventually do that anytime they are around u

i am hard of hearing and have to ask my boss this 5 times a day, but he understands i have a hard time hearing and puts up wiht it

Man I mumble and I don't mean to. I'm sorry :(
