how do i improve my wit and impromptu speaking? not looking for self-help books or any of that bullshit. i'm looking more for mental exercises and techniques to get my mind thinking differently
when i was a teen i was very quiet and never spoke to anyone outside my family. now that i'm 22 and have a job, i've completely dropped my social anxiety, however my social skills are way behind. there are many times when my mind goes blank during a conversation. i can barely hold my own when bantering, and i fail almost every shit-test a woman gives me.
ive started listening to a lot of comedy, which has helped a bit

mental exercises wont do shit. you gotta set out to practice. that is literally the mental exercise.
go out and talk to strangers. talk to friends. think a little about what you want to say in advance and lead them to what you want when you prethink something witty. it sticks in time.,
Literally by talking more.
Neural plasticity allows any mental task to become easier the more it's done.
So the more you have to access a certain pathway when talking on the fly, the more your brain reinforces it.
Just do it now instead of later. That shit gets harder as time goes on.
