Yeah, getting RPGMaker and cracking this game open to take a look has only increased my respect for Sierra. Comparing it to something like Roundscape, Zombie's Life or even her own Noxian Nights, Sierra has done an incredible amount of behind-the-scenes work that most people are never going to notice or appreciate and this is all stuff she's basically done by herself for the most part.

Nergal wrote a SHITTON of his own scripts for AZL and the fact it doesn't crash every 2 seconds proves he actually knows how to code. He also uses parallax mapping in UD.
Roundscape has so much scripting and custom shit that it's actually detrimental. The game shits itself . And the combat is still god-awful turn-based basic RPGMaker shit.
As for Noxian Nights, it uses generic stock assets from RPGMaker everywhere as well... the art is nice but the setting and characters are fucking stolen from LoL.
