What I hate the most about RPG maker games is the kind of authors it seems to attract. I tend to prefer games that are more life-sim like. This is why I sunk waaaay too many hours into Girl Life. Stuff like the time management and stat progression in Summertime Saga does it for me, but I couldn't get into Big Brother, I think it's too adventure gamey for me. I like RPGMaker. It's a decent engine, not very resource intensive, easy to create scenarios with, and doesn't need technical proficiency or any real coding knowledge.

I also hate RPGmaker because of this reason. Any random idea guy can decide they'll make a game, and they can just go and download some shitty 3d models everyone else is using, write some shitty unrealistic story, with terrible writing, with terrible grammar and spelling, and release it to patreon, and get several hundred dollars for their 0.001 version with 15 minutes of "gameplay".

The market is supersaturated with this garbage thanks to RPGmaker, but this isn't directly the fault of the engine.
