So we are 23 days into the month and 34Qucker hasn't made a single art related post on patreon. He has just made one post advertising his discord, and another saying that he will focus on commissions on DA for July. He also said that there would be a poll and that he would be posting a pic of his OC, neither of which have come to fruition. This lack of effort towards paying customers has led to a reduction in his supporters. For instance there used to be 3 people in his $25 tier, and there is now 1, and the amount of people in his other tiers have gone down as well, because they have received little news that he will be doing anything. However just yesterday he had a request stream, again drawing art for those that aren't paying money for it. Out of the charity in his kind heart.
According to his last journal on DA he has managed to free himself of 5 commissions by means of completing them or through refund. He has posted 2 pictures this month on DA and Furaffinity. So we can hazard a guess that he has completed 2 pictures and refunded 3 in the course of 23 days. And he still has 10 commissions left to do, and since he will be doing those before he does anything patreon related, we can safely presume that patreon will not be getting anything completed for the next several months. And on top of all of that, he is going on vacation next week, so that's another week of guaranteed nothing.
So he doesn't have time to fulfill promises on money that has already been paid to him but what he HAS had time to do is rant about dumb DA drama and plug Axel-Rosered's new art pack. Though I as well as the rest of the art community hope to see more art from 34Qucker in the future, it is plain to see that effort towards art is currently not on the upswing. This lack of production may be a result of something in his real life, but patreon, as well as all other art platforms, have received no reassurances or confirmations to show that effort will be put forward in the future.

No, this is a valid and reasonable argument you're making. Yes, this past month has not been well for me, a combination of work and other stuff has impeded my usual work flow.

But for the most part I don't get too many updates on Patreon from my patreons. People fail to send me what they want for that month and I can't be expected to reach out to each and every person every single month to remind them to get me the info for what they want.

But I did say I would be doing commissions AND patreon stuff this week. I understand I have a long list to complete on Patreon and I've made it clear that if people are unhappy with the time I've taken to complete them they are more then welcome to refund it.

But I totally get it, it's frustrating not to get any art or even updates for weeks at a time, and that's my fault. Again, real-life has really gotten in the way of how I usually work and I'm trying my best to work around it, it's the reason I made that discord to establish better communication with my supporters. I would lighten the load more if I could, but like a lot of people I need the money right now.

That's about it really. Again, I get where you're coming from, and I would be frustrated too. It's the reason I made that journal in the first place to reassure people I would be making progress on stuff.

Isn't the personal responsibility on the patrons to remember a simple thing like requesting what they'd like? I'm pretty sure if you make a patreon post, your patrons get notified as well. So unless he hasn't made any patreon posts regarding people getting their requests in (Which may be true, I'm not a patron of his), your argument kind of calls flat. Its really, really not hard to remember "Oh hey, I'm supporting an artist, and I get a thing from them every month".

Of course, if he hasn't made any posts like that, hopefully he'll learn from the experience and do so in the future. Or not, at which point he can fuck off.

I respect that you took the time to respond. And I understand that life gets in the way at times, it does for us all. But I have talked to several of your patrons who have been regularly submitting their requests each month, and have received little more than a "I'll get right on it!" in response.
One of the main problems with patreon is after the money leaves the hands of the patron there is no obligation for the artist to fulfill their end, and many of the patrons are afraid that ultimately they are powerless to make sure what they have requested gets completed, since there is no obligation.

I do agree that it is the responsibility of the patrons to send their requests in. But the problem is that even when they do send them in far before the deadline, they are not being completed. Also I am a patron and since I've been around he has never made a post reminding people to get their requests in. But honestly why would he, he could either have the request for art hanging over his head in exchange for money, or he could just have free money, why would he bother reminding people.
