Rigidity maps don't do what one would naturally assume they do (make the geometry retain it's shape). What they do is make the geometry not be affected by the morphs. They still deform with the weight maps. What you have to do is make all your rigid parts a separate geometry that is parented to the vertex of the cloth mesh.

If a bunch of them say they want the headlight replaced with a giant purple with green polka-dots dong then you replace that fucking headlight.

You're doing porn for pay. You're doing it for the money not artistic satisfaction and not to get your own rocks off. Find something people want to fap to that nobody else is making.

It looks like you're rendering a scene in Iray but using 3Delight materials. When Iray converts 3Delight materials they come out looking very plastic. The background is kinda meh. Iray is for photorealistic renders but that background doesn't look very photorealistic. It would probably render better if you went more stylistic with it. Maybe use the Visual Styles Noir or Manga shaders on it and do a NPR.

The ground, rocks, tree trunks, grass etc. They look very much like a 3D model. The ground in particular looks like a simply plane with a photograph plugged into the diff. There are 3D elements on the ground (rocks, twigs, leaves, etc) that clearly look like a flat photograph and not 3D objects.

Personally I'm not that big a fan of photo realism. You always bump up against the uncanny valley hard. While the Daz figures themselves can be worked into a pretty good photo realistic render, the accessories are usually of poor quality. Daz hair models are notoriously bad and without dynamic cloth their clothing models never look right, not to mention without real object rigidity buttons and buckles and things like that are always deformed whenever the model is posed.

My personal preference would be to work stylistically with the limitations and instead of having the flaws ruin the photo realism find a way to make the systemic flaws part of a stylistic choice.

Can you recommend a good tutorial for 3delight lighting? Left is 3point with 60 key, 40 fill and 30 back, with 50% strength 1000% softness shadow on key and imo shadows still look too sharp. Right is 50% ambient 50% distant at the same angle as key on the left, with 50% strength 500% softness shadow on key and 50% occlusion on ambient.

Believe it or not everything I know about physiognomy and skin is the direct result of doing internet searches after being dissatisfied with the work of one DAZ figure/morph developer or another. This actually makes sense if you think about it: if I'd had the formal art education which would have taught me most of that, I wouldn't be using a 3D posing application.

This is an improvement; less is more.
Slight tonal weirdness on the skull where the lekku meet it, but I'd bet that's a lighting artifact and not a problem with the textures. Slight clipping of the lekku and her upper chest.
Chain unlikely to drape along foot and draws attention to itself; either give it a more random path off the foot or be creative and have one of her toes holding it in place. Toes all uniform; you'd never do that with a hand so bend the big toe just enough to make it look like a more natural pose (and I'll remember to do this with my own renders too).

All this nitpicking is a net compliment, it's a good composition and the office lady glasses/goth makeup make the whole more interesting (don't get TOO random in your combos though).

You don't. You're going to fake it like Poser users had to before weight painting was a thing. I wrote the first Poser tutorial on how to do breast squeeze deforms in 2001 and in retrospect it wasn't a lot more sophisticated than what you did: parent deformers to finger joints that apply to the breasts.

And I made the same mistake your picture shows, too. A volumetric deform simulation has TWO parts: the indentation inward (which both of us got right) and the corresponding bulge outward (which we both overlooked). What I *should* have done then was simmed the outward bulge with a deformer, THEN applied the indentation deformers to that resulting bulged breast (if you try it in the other order, it'll spread out your indentations).

It being 2017 and not 2001, before you do either of these things subdivide the chest so it deforms believably.

Experimenting with cell shading in Daz Studio. I think I know what I need to do with the textures to get it to work better. Basically just two texture maps one that's plugged into the Paper Colour channel on Visual Styles manga shader and then a separate texture that is the colours I want the shadows to be on the paper and plug it into the tone channels, then make all 4 tone channels the same to clamp the colours to a simple 2 shades. I'll have to manually paint the highlights on the paper texture.

Basically I think the simpler I make each texture map the better the effect should be.

You create a geometry shell for the figure and then apply a mesh pattern (black = see through, white = visable) to the opacity channel and then apply a mesh texture to the diffuse layer. You'll get a skin tight mesh outfit that won't poke through and won't need a smoothing modifier.

I always faces issues related to texture application whenever i create a futa model. For example, in the picture shown the penis attachment loses color when i added suspenders to the model, if i hide the suspenders the the penis shows the texture color. I tried this too and it still does not work. I am able to get the textures on the penis working when i remove the stockings and suspenders. But when i put them back after applying the texture, the penis goes back to being white...

My experience working with badly written software is that you somehow hit a bug where the dick texture and the suspenders are both trying to use the same internal reference unless one is hidden, and the suspenders are removing the dick texture.

I doubt the filename matters here but try it. It's more likely to be some ID value in the two textures.

Send a report to DAZ's support site. Attach as many pictures of cocks as you can, they need the entertainment now that most of the staff's been laid off.

You could export the animation as a .BVH but if you're going to use another piece of software to animate why would you animate the characters in Daz first. Unless you slap your animation together using prepackaged aniblocks there's no advantage to animating in Daz first and if you are going to just use prepackaged aniblocks for your animations then why worry about animating in another program anyway.

You can export Daz characters as .FBX and there are some tutorials in getting Daz's fucked up .FBX export to work in Maya and Unity but a lot of the time when people use Daz figures in Maya it's because they're making video game character porn and they don't want it to look like shit (the way SFM looks).

For that you basically use a Daz figure and morph it inside Daz to look like the body of the character you want to use and export it as an OBJ. Then you have your video game character rip imported as an OBJ. You convert the game model from tris to quads. Remove the head from the Daz model and remove the body from the game model and then weld the head to the body, re-rig the figure and away you go. Now you have a nude version of a video game character that will subdivide and has a higher resolution body than a game mesh.

You'll have to know how to rig to do this. Most of the people who make Porn with Daz just buy stock porn aniblocks and animate within Daz. If you have Animate 2 you can build your own porn aniblocks. Some people have apparently used Second Life BHV files and edited them to work with Daz figures with something like BVHacker.

Doing figure animations in Daz is actually not all that difficult thanks to puppeteer. It's doing physics based animations that suck because Daz has no physics engines (although MCausal has made a bunch of free physics scripts for Daz Studio).

A simple fuck cycle is pretty easy to make in Daz Studio. So if it's just porn there's no reason you can't stick to Daz.

I really wish Daz would give us better animation tools and a better real-time render engine for making animations. If you're rendering animations in Iray you'd better have a separate machine dedicated to rendering because it will take a hell of a long time. Even rendering in 3Delight can take 30 seconds to animate a single frame which might not sound like a lot of time but at 15 frames a second a short animation can add up really fast. The only real-time rendering option is Daz is OpenGL with no shadows which I guess works if what you're going for is turn of the century video game animation.

No. I'm not going to buy Poser. I don't really do anything with DS other than make waifus and waifu accessories. I've rarely ever rendered anything other than to show something I modelled.

You do not need to export DAZ models as .obj, that would mean you lose the rig.

You simply export the models as .fbx and then import them into maya or 3ds max and apply a rig to them. (for example maya's human IK is easy to use).

My workflow is Daz -> 3ds max (preparing model for human IK, have to rotate the model correctly, i only use max cause I know it better than maya) -> maya, apply human IK, animate

Note that the exported .fbx does not have DAZ's muscle deformation morphs included, which is of course a shame, but I'd rather animate and render outside daz than having to use DAZ for that.

There won't be a Daz Studio 5. They don't have the programming talent at Daz anymore to do more than fix bugs in 4.9

Thornton is just going to make the company freefall with his lack of 3D knowledge and experience (he seriously thought he could take on Adobe and Autodesk).

They'll probably do what Smithmicro is supposedly doing and hope they can keep things afloat long enough to find someone to buy it from them.

Any investor who does due diligence on the company will see that Gizmoz brought on a CEO and COO with no background in the field who fired the founders they agreed to keep as consultants, abandoned every software package it acquired, downsized the developers it had to the point of uselessness, and deliberately gimped its latest figures to ensure content developers were required to sell high-def content solely through their own store.

Investors would also require records of the store grosses/nets dating back at least five years preceding Thornton/Wilburn's tenure there to get a clearer idea of the market fluctuations overall and their impact on the company in particular, and what the details of the OptiTex and Iray deals were.

DAZ3D is distressed property BECAUSE of Thornton and Wilburn's incompetence and it's almost certain that a smart investor would clean house within 36 months. No more Morph3D, no more VR bullshit, no tilting at windmills, just a focus on revamping Studio and attracting more PAs.

There is exactly one solid investment opportunity for buying out DAZ3D but the principals haven't been made aware of it yet.
