The game has no time limit whatsoever (if not playing on the hardest difficulty), there's no loss condition and the player character isn't the "heroes"; it's the hamlet.

Just get familiar with heroes and the different teams you can combine them in, and take things at your own pace... Those without the stomach for this place must move on.

It might seem like a no brainer, but always be sure you're playing to the zone's weakness. Don't bring people who cause bleed to the area full of skeletons, bring them to the weald full of pigfuckers to stick and bleed, etc, etc.

If I remember bring the necromancer is probably the easiest boss to start off on. Something like the Cannon or the Hag is just gonna give you a heart attack early on if you're not confident yet.
