Punk Hazard and Dressrosa were the Alabasta Saga- getting a tag along member (vivi/law) with ties to the shichibukai foe, making lots of allies, and facing an enemy with a country around his finger and a large organization at his call.
Whole cake's been W7 and Enies Lobby, with losing a member to forces out of their control so Luffy goes on a rescue mission to save them.

I actually thought Oda handled Sanji's breakdown well, which I didn't expect from reading the spoilers.

With Nami and Robin it was about them facing the reality that they're not fighting alone anymore, and that by crying for Luffy's help they have a chance at living free. Sanji's whole drama has been about him being honest with himself and stop putting on the terrible facade. He's not bawling for Luffy's help, he's admitting that despite all the things chaining him down he still wants to go back home with them in the end.

There's obviously similarities with Arlong Park and Enies Lobby because Oda writes using a formula but it was different enough to feel like its own story. There was no mystery surrounding Sanji's past or his allegiances to the reader, because we saw it all through his perspective instead of the crews. It also took like 20 chapters for him to start playing his role as the damsel, he was fighting it for a hell of a while.

His appearance at the battlefield is purposeful exaggeration for emphasis until he eats, in which case more exaggeration as he springs back to life. This is used constantly in the series.

If you want to try and make more sense of it it's a combination of hunger, exhaustion and injury. He burnt any energy he had using Gear Fourth for such an incredibly long time, then spent the rest of the day not eating yet constantly exerting and stressing himself out instead of resting. He then ran around the castle fighting and still hungry and made his way to that battlefield running on empty where he collapsed.

I think you're underselling Luffy and company (as well as, honestly, their ridiculous luck). In reality, the only Yonko crew members who are really threatening at this point are the strongest ones. Luffy is more than a match for anyone that isn't a commander and it would probably take a commander to match Jinbe. Pedro turned out quite strong and is a match for the strongest under the commanders. Brook is relatively strong and only managed to sneak by Smoothie and the rest of the forces by putting himself in an unwinnable situation. Brulee's deal is the illusionary forest and the ones who inhabit it, it's not stated that she herself is supposed to be very strong so Chopper and Carrot beating her through trickery isn't unreasonable. I won't justify the idiot guarding Sanji, though they likely underestimated the resolve have him saved and that Sanji himself wanted to leave after he's been so compliant.

Having the mirror ability gives them an incredible advantage as well.

The issue, as someone pointed out, is that Big Mom's tyranny makes some willing to scheme and lie in order to protect themselves as opposed to working together in full trust.

I think the Pudding reveal makes a lot more sense, and probably means the other Yonko each have their own ace in the hole...people get far too hung up on Robin being the only one able to read the Poneglyphs, ignoring the fact we know other people who can (including Luffy if he had any interest and Momo)...what actually makes her a threat is she is well versed in studying history and has an interest and ability to put the historical information on the Poneglyphs to use against the World Government

As far as just reading the road map ones, I'm sure there's a fair amount of people able to do that besides Pudding, as surely other people (including probably Teach) can hear the voice of all things and stuff like that

You've got a point there. I just re read how the guard ended up there. Sanji left for Pudding, a time where the Vinsmokes were still allowed to roam freely. The guard then snuck in to get some sleep (look at the guy, his entire appearance says 'slacking off foot soldier'). When he awoke he just saw Sanji isn't back, but he most likely didn't know Sanji wasn't allowed to be not in his room at this time, or even know what time it is. So yeah, he's just a dumb foot soldier, wich have alawys in any faction been failures (standard marine, Doffy familie foot soldier, etc)

Sanji's situation is both of theirs combined (leave to save their family others + self sacrifice to save the crew).
