Yeah the author actually wrote something, and to be honest its kinda long for a short story.

He takes it in a very different situation though with Chitanda's life turned topsy turvy so hopefully this is a re-invigoration of the series.

Finally, There's only so long one person can hold a persona like that before reality comes crashing down on them. I know she can get pretty angry such as the incident with the teacher and the incident with the stolen valentines day gift, I just hope the argument isn't over Oreki not being able to figure something out for her. I always felt like she was using him to amuse herself with her school life before the adult responceablities were forced upon her as soon as she finished high school. Kinda like how Asuka of Hibiki wanted to compete in nationals and how some kids wanted to use Music class as yet another socialization moment in their lives.

If these novels have taught me anything it's that after high school is a long dark abyss of strife and stress with brief moments of fresh air before going right back into it.

Chitanda is in some pretty deep drama shit right now. She basically got told her future is different from what she had been brought up to be and is kinda lost.

Nothing big changes, if you'll read you would notice how close they have become though. Oreki notices a lot of things about Chitanda and even Satoshi confides that only Oreki can find Chitanda. They also have a pretty nice heartfelt conversation at the end.


Also funnily enough Chitanda locks herself away in some place and Oreki comes and it is implied that they leave together in the rain. Author could even be using the name Oreki as a play on words where Ore = i am ki= english for key = I am the key.

That was more about her grandfather being screwed over by typical bystander syndrome then something of herself. ICE CREAM, I SCREAM, was just something she couldn't let go of. This is much more personal so does it mean she's not going to be tending a farmer's massive land crops out of high school? What happened?

Houtarou Oreki falls in love with Chitanda Eru.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the rich girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to Chitanda, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, Oreki deduces that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the wannabe detective's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of CURIOUSITY.

The author might be leaning that way because in one of the scenes in the story Oreki pwns Chitanda's aunt and historically Oreki has a streak of going against higher and older authority (see Kanya fest and his middle school thing where his upperclassman hated him).
