Remember how everyone thought this would get a season 2 right away?
There's an obvious reason why. The concept of a light novel often tickets out during the second novel.
Bento was great for the first six episodes, where it explored the fighting concept. The second half of the anime adapted the second novel, and it fell into harem crap.
SAO was already shitty, but the second book was even worse. Kokoro Connect was okay for the first five episodes, then went full retard.
Hell, the second part of Maou was already bad with Original Suzano Do Not Steal and Angel James. Lucifer was barely tolerable. And then the third novel has a girl who calls the main characters "mommy and daddy". DID YOU NOT LEARN YOUR MISTAKE WITH FUCKING YUI?
Mostly true but it's a bit more complicated then that - since maou sama has already had its big anime bump and continues to sell well the publishers would rather invest in a new property to boost it instead of a pointless (in their eyes) sequel
It depends where they are in the production committee but they're main concern is - "How big of an increase will the light novels receive in terms of sales?" If the anime is a particularly strong seller on dvd/BD it may get a s2 despite being a huge LN Booster like Sao if the distribution company has a large say in the matter like aniplex were in that case
In maou samas case the LN publisher and the distributer were the same entity more or less. So despite strong dvd/BD sales it's ln increase was too strong for them to green lit a s2 and instead spend the new revenue on new properties
Never fucking reply to me again unless you're contributing to the thread
konosuckba fans are in for a suprise because they actually believe that shitty show has a guaranteed S2 when it will struggle to reach 5k
In comparison maou got 10k and S2 never, ever
Do people actually like Maou? Dude killed millions, but when pressed on it, gave the weakest ass apology imaginable. Sure, he's a good guy to people now, but he barely shows any remorse for his prior actions, when he's portrayed as being basically Hitler in Ente Isla. Dude should at least do a dogeza or something to Emi and her crew.
Thats sort of like saying generals don't have responsibility for their army's activities. He said to his troops to do whatever the fuck they wanted, and they went and pillaged. Even if he didn't personally bloody his hands, he's the cause of a ton of bloodshed.
Everything about the "good" side makes them seem less good as the anime went, like raising Emi as a weapon and politicking. But there's not enough development to say which side was better... and no season 2.
There isn't necessarily a 'good' side that i'm worried about. The Church seems like a bunch of assholes like any feudal system. But, again, we see that his armies don't just target the other armies, but also civilian centers. Straight up war crimes there.
? So wait, it's just cool that he killed millions of people, because lives don't matter back then? Then why do they matter now?
The church itself are the ones that torched Emi's hometown to give her a reason to fight. Maou's armies did do a lot of stuff but really their main orders were to take the land over, not to massacre the residents. They were after resources not pointless slaughter. Not saying shit didn't happen, I mean the humans did fight back after all but I mean the humans had been doing shit to the demons for centuries so well they just got their comeuppance in my opinion.
I know that Emi was fucked with the church, but his actions go beyond that town.
As a quote from the
wikisays During the razing of Ente Isla, he allowed his minions the right to perform any heinous acts they deemed fit, showing immense cruelty through the slaughter of many innocent humans in his conquest.
If that quote is inaccurate, then I'm sorry for providing false information, but I just would have liked to see at least one scene where he tries to fix his actions. That may not have been possible in the first season due to the LN, but it felt needed imo for Maou to be relatable.
It wasn't Maou who gave that command, it was one of the commander down the line giving out such orders. Maou probably found out too late that such commands were given out. All he can do is take responsibility for his own commanders.
Besides the human kingdom were the ones that kept attacking them.
I don't know, Durarara!! sold tons but didn't get a sequel because Brains Base don't like doing sequels. I feel like this might be the case with White Fox, Gochiusa S2 was their first sequel but even Kinema Citrus is credit before them.
