It's a jab at the /a/ mentality. Usually as something gets more popular, there are more critics/shitposters.
A lot of times this is used as a defense for shitty anime/manga. i.e. SAO is only hated on this board cause is poplar!!!1!
If you've been on this board for long enough though you can tell this has an effect on even good anime or at least anime that shouldn't be considered terrible.
Take TTGL for example. While not the best anime ever, it was loved by /a/ but, in recent days it gets panned a lot. This is due to not only people realizing its flaws overtime but also the fact that it is a very popular anime on the reddits and other sites.
>>137852758 the logic behind the argument is that the "elitists" on /a/ cant be all smug about knowing the source materiel once it gets popular as more people picked it up and know just as much as they do. as a result they can't be mr. spoiler and choose to shit all over it as a result.
Who knows I haven't bothered watching it past ep 2 since murder mysteries are retarded and use cliffhangers to keep people watching instead of actual substance. Its fine as something to watch in one boring afternoon, I reckon.
>>137853350 There's nothing wrong with cliffhangers, though this show uses them wrong sometimes. I bet the next episode is going to reveal something stupid like some dirty hobo that happens to also live in the abandoned bus finds the girl and doesn't really do anything that affects the plot whatsoever
It got shittier because the plot is stupid, I'm talking about his mother's death and the fire in pizza-chan's house. Hinazuki's story in the other side is interesting and I'm glad the anime got good again.
>>137853517 its the killer planting his stuff for his next operation targeting another girl in a different school. Total coincidence that he came across Kayo, and he didn't notice her either. Kayo casually mentions this later when it's too late, then they move into Satorus house. His mom is surprisingly okay with this.
Honestly, this show is a nice change of pace from the usual drab that airs every season. I actually feel suspense and don't always know what's gonna happen. But it's not the best thing since sliced bread, like MAL would have you believe. Konosuba is better, in my opinion.
It's why I have a hard time ever feeling sorry for any of them that think their favorite shows get shitposted. Like Kyoani fans they bring it on themselves and love to talk some shit but when it's back on them they get about as defensive and play the victim card. Basically fuck em' and just enjoy the show or don't but it's definitely yet another massively overblown one.
>>137852758 >What do you mean by this? Are you guys legit brain dead? How are you still beating this horse when it wasn't funny from the first moment? How the fuck are you this stupid? This is common behavior of children with severe, debilitating autism except even they don't repeat the same shit for literally years. What the fuck? I'm stunned that people this stupid exist in the world. You took "not knowing when to stop" and redefined our understanding of it, and then did that 5 more times. You're unfathomably retarded and I can't believe how shitty your taste in humor is. Literally "lol xdd i said it again xddd" the joke.
This shows going to be so much less well received by people doing it on a rewatch or marathoning it later since it relies so much on cliffhangers at the end of episodes to generate hype. I don't think I can recall another noitaminA series relying so much on cheap thrills. Terror in Resonance maybe?
When a story includes someone in a romantic relationship being stolen from their partner in such a way that is intended to incite negative feelings in the reader.
Basically, what if at the end of toradora, some jackass shows up and blackmails taiga into fucking him, which she reluctantly does while keeping it a secret from ryuuji, but eventually she starts liking it. That's NTR.
>>137854203 No it does, later on, it's just the cliffhanger was never meant to be a cliffhanger. It happens in the middle of a chapter in the manga.
Satoru blabs about the stuff they found to his teacher, who is actually the killer, who then straps him in a car and drives it into a river leading him to fall into a 15 year coma only to wake up with amnesia that dates back to before his first revival. Forgetting the revivals and his adult life in the process. The manga then proceeds to spend 8 chapters or so teasing us with his memories then the series suddenly ends. Oh and Kayo is married to Hiromi and they have a kid, and that's the netorare that /a/ keeps bitching about
>>137856772 First, /a/ loves HakoMari, and I think that is rated high on MAL (the author tweeted that he was surprised to see his work rated so high on a western website). And second who the fuck cares about MAL?
>>137857359 Listen, this is what I'm talking about: >>137856772 >/a/ just hates good things when they become popular. You are wrong if you think that as a rule /a/ will hate anything popular regardless if the content is good or not. I am pointing out that HakoMari is popular and even rated highly on the website that was said to have ranked this anime #6 which correlates to the hate it gets. I am saying that HakoMari is ranked #2 on MAL, which means it is indeed popular but the people on /a/ that care enough love HakoMari.
>>137857522 I'm not that guy, and /a/ doesn't hate things because they're popular, but it's true that wen things start getting popular on MAL or with casuals, they generally get shitposting. I'm saying that HakoMari escapes that because most of /a/ doesn't pay much attention to LNs, doesn't read HakoMari, and definitely doesn't know what the popular LNs on MAL are.
>>137857522 The rules are different between anime and manga/LN, anon. Serious /a/nons also read manga/LN and the same can be said of MAL. Note that it has 4500 ratings compared with the amount of ratings for Gintama and FMA.
>>137852758 In this case it's actually true that the show is getting shitter as time goes on. Honestly I think this time around it's just honest reaction to yet another A-1 shitpile going down the toilet.
>>137860167 >Seriously, MC life is much more better compare to the old timeline, he literally got everything he want in this new timeline. Right now he doesn't have anything for himself. He's happy to see the people he loves are fine and happy, but he hasn't gotten anything to call his own.
>Stop self-insert, you faggot, he don't want to end up with anyone, he just want his mommy. He wanted his mom safe, and he accomplished that much. Now he has to start living his own life.
>They are very precious to him but MC did not think of them that way so fuck-off with your shipping. It's not about shipping. Like I said, now that he has saved his mom and friends, he has to start living his own life. That means getting a job, love, etc.
>>137861307 My point is that I want to see all that happening. I want him to become a successful mangaka since pursuing your dreams was an important theme (introduced in the first chapter and revisited in chapter 35 when Airi talks about her own dream of becoming a photographer). I also want him to meet Airi again because they shared a lot and I don't think Satoru should give up that relationship. Even if he has to build it from zero again, he should go for it.
I want to see all this because I think it's important for his character growth and because he actually deserves it.
That been said, I don't think the manga would go to shit of this doesn't happen. I just think it would be better if it does.
>>137852758 Especially for people who don't think of themselves as being into popular things, seeing a lot of other people getting into something and liking it a lot can make them more critical of it, diminishing the parts they liked and making the parts they didn't stand out more
>Satoru in coma >Kayo probably visited Satoru every day afterschool >Hiromi also came to visit Satoru >Kayo starts emotionally leans on Hiromi >they get closer >Hiromi asks Kayo out >Kayo says yes >Kayo and Hiromi go on first date >Kayo and Hiromi go to Christmas Tree without Satoru >Kayo slowly stops visiting Satoru >Kayo and Hiromi go to love hotel >Hiromi slowly starts pounding Kayo >Kayo and Hiromi get married >Kayo feeds Hiromi the wedding cake >Hiromi unleashes baby batter into Kayo >Kayo gives birth to child >Satoru wakes up >Kayo visits him
