What do you think of Redline /a/?

Love it, but I wish the plot was a bit more polished.

It needed more short races. Showing off the other racers ability, letting the audience grow some attachment for them.
I think they were going to at one point just because of the ending where everyone is sitting around sweating and panting and smiling up at JP and Sonoshee. Like, I have no reason to believe that any of them like or know each other because of how little time they spent showing them interacting together.

Far as I know, originally there was. It was going to be a show, but considering how long it took to animate it as well as they did, they chopped out almost all the setup and backstory they'd written and just showed the Redline as a movie.

Some fun facts I found out about Redline:

>JP's name stands for James Punkhead.

>Miki & Todoroki are damn near the only actual humans in the movie; just about everyone else is some weird species of alien. Some are obvious aliens, like Shinkai (Oceanic/Chikulun hybrid) or Trava (Anista hybrid), but even most human-like characters are aliens; for example, Sonoshee is listed as being a species hybrid between a human and an Oceanic. The most curious case, though, is JP. While it's easy to assume he's a human, there's a lot of details that don't add up: his totally unique elf ears, his super-lanky-even-for-a-Koike-character-design physique, the fact that his race is covered up on his bail sheet when he gets out of prison, and the fact that he seems to be totally immune to death.

>It was, understandably, a huge pain in the ass to hand draw every frame of the various vehicles of Redline without using any CGI, especially with how nuts all of the designs are. Let's say it got 12 episodes at 20 minutes a pop to keep math simple.
That's about 240 minutes of animation they would need.

there was this video with a race that had some cool wubwub music I really liked and lost and never found again, sadly

Reminded me of the old speed racer show, the nostalgia I got from it was fun. Plot was pretty bland but the races were top notch.

Sonoshee is love. Sonoshee is life.

The ED was fantastic too. Great love song.

I fucking love it. It's a fantastic audio-visual experience, and it just oozes character everywhere. It's so fucking dense. I love how much detail there is, not just in the animation, but in the lengths they go to explore the world with things like the introductions for each of the racers by the TV channel, each with their own awesome theme songs. Also the fact that they're racing on the equivalent of space North Korea's nuclear missile development sites is hilarious.

I expected better, honestly.
The middle parts building up to the race played it too straight and typical, they really upset the flow of what should have been 100% whacky, over-the-top racing shenanigans in space. Instead we got 70% whacky, over-the-top racing shenanigans in space.
And while I'm certainly not suggesting the political/supermonster subplot should have taken centerfold, I would have really liked a proper conclusion and follow-up for it.

That said it was still a really fun watch and an absolute feast for the eyes that everyone should watch.

Loved it, I think it's focus on animation and visuals rather than a 2deep4u plot really served it well. It was more of a fun lighthearted experience than some drama.
