Just the right mix of action and comedy and the only time Japan ever got the fantasy genre right, minimal edgelord self-insertion garbage, and great animation if you dont' mind the occasional Saber Marionette-tier stylization.

I'd say keep going. Depending on how far into season 1 you are I think it still has a chance to grow on you. I'm actually only half-way through Next myself but it's been pretty enjoyable so far. The character interactions are what sell it for me.
