Just finished this and it is by far the most enjoyable shounen I have ever watched. Maybe because it didn't go on forever, all the characters were likable and the romance was well thought out? You have to admit, it is the best thing to come out of Shounen Jump.
I thought the anime fell apart right when the big bad showed up. Bascially, it went from a show where people died when they were killed to an average shonen where fucking nothing happened and nobody died real quick.
That said, WHOOOAAAHOOOHAAHHHOOHHH WHOOOAAAHOOOHAAHHHOOHHH DA NA NA NA NA NAAA!!
I seriously was certain this would be one of my favorites, and that may be the reason that the second half disappointed me so much and I end up judging it so harshly.
>Easily the best battle shonen romance
How many Shonen even have DECENT romance. Kenshin and Koaru where okay I guess but I never much cared for Yusuke and Keiko
Yeah, that grabbed my attention as well. You ca tell they like really each other without crossing a romance line.
Kazuki was a nice main character. He even had chemistry with his friends, you don't actually see that often.
I see nothing wrong with Buso Renkin. I kind of like Law of Ueki back in the day. It had a catchy OP.
>Kazuki comes back from space
>Papillon tosses him the white whatever
>turns back to human
>Papillion and Kazuki finish their fight
>woah oh oh oh starts playing
>SEASON 2 NEVER
Didn't really need one. Honestly I think the worst thing these shows do is go on forever.
>the hero's friends and classmates make him stronger
>no, he literally sucks energy from them to become stronger
Was a pretty fun twist.
what's Watsuki up to these days, anyways? Still counting his Kenshin money?
He was in the middle of that weird Frankenstein comic before he put it on hiatus to do some Kenshin AU last I knew, but that must have been years ago.
I do often feel a bit bad for Watsuki, that none of his other works were able to gain quite the same popularity and Kenshin ends up just hanging over it all. But Busou Renkin made ten volumes in the end and he got to properly wrap it up. The Frakenstein one seemed to be doing well enough to keep going. And Kenshin made fucking gangbusters for awhile, so I'm sure he's fine.
Those in-video comments make me nostalgic for simpler, less ironic shitposting and a time when /b/ was an actual board and not a massive amalgam of people who probably could barely tell you what /a/ is, let alone write insults on our videos.
>this came out 11 years ago
fisr the Mai Hime thread on /m/ and now this. I swear you guys are tying to make me feel old
Yeah, the OVAs and the Movie probably but sony actually did the entire series and just SAT on it till Media Blasters picked up the license and redubbed the whole thing.
The whole project was a huge fiasco the more I read of it
Baka? I remember that's where I got everything. They've taken down a lot of shit though. worth a look I guess.
BR and Ueki are literally two of the most cliche ridden generic action shonen ever created yet they are both are two of the series Ive enjoyed going through in my years of viewing anime and manga.
They're still up on Bakabt. At least, the torrent page is, I don't know how well its seeded.
I'm rather sad there were never good scans of the last few volumes. Then again, I suppose that's what convinced me to buy the physical copies when I had a chance.
Im more a Recca fan myself but BR is a close second
Probably because it doesn't feel so forced when the cliches play out. Like there's the expectation that x y z events need to happen, like in Black Clover for example, but it feels more organic in BR? Maybe I'm just too jaded.
Series like Busou Renkin are good examples of why cliched stories and characters aren't necessarily bad, it's how well they're executed. BR toys with things a bit, but it's pretty much entirely straight the whole way through. It's just enjoyable, the art and characters good, and there's pretty much nothing you have to make excuses for. There's no little annoyances or stupid shit where you have to shrug and say "well it's battle shonen shit, what are you going to do?" Just good fun.
>I can't find that fucking picture of them with babies that look like them
>not on danbooru
Maybe there is no picture. Maybe I imagined it.
Was this it? Close enough, at any rate.
I'm interested in watching/reading this. I know the manga got cancelled early, does that mean the conclusion is rushed and lots of stuff is left open? Is the anime a straight adaptation or did it try to add more things to give better closure?
This thread is a blast from the past
It missed its own point the moment Ueki began unlocking the sacred treasures. They still required ingenuity to use against his few stronger opponents who also had them, but otherwise he broke through the power scale way too quickly and became too powerful for any human power holder.
I'm sure there's scanlation up somewhere on the internet, but I do recall having to dig for it and it not having the best quality (even excusing that the last few volumes don't have any great quality scans). Luckily the baka torrent was still up then.
Given this, I'm feeling generous and got a MEGA upload going. Luckily it's a small set of files, so it shouldn't be too long even with my shit internet. It'll probably be done in 30 minutes or so.

Getting one manga that popular's rare enough. There aren't many who get two. And his problem could always be worse - did you know Saito Takao's written over 50 manga?
does anyone still have the moonman edit of that pic?
I was mad as fuck for weeks
Alright fags, I don't know if there's something up with people's shitty taste in torrenting programs, or whether there's proper scans up on an online reader, but if I have to spoon feed people to get them to read Busou Renkin, I don't really care.
Let me know if I fucked anything up.
I thought the ending was kinda rushed, but it's still a solid 9/10.
>"Well, we're obviously not gonna solve this shit overnight, so we'll fuck off to the moon, you guys close up shop and we'll try again later."
