Does anybody read Japanese? I'm trying to figure out what is happening here.
Azusa confessed and Yui told her she likes somebody else.
Upper panel she calls for her. Bottom panel she asks if everything is okay with her lately, she answers yes. Last panel she asks because people have been calling her a faggot (homo) lately.
Top thought questions if it's because she asked if she was a faggot. Middle panders on why her good friend for a long time would bully her and call her a faggot like the others in class when she's suppose to be her friend. Bottom panel is just deeper into thought about it, thinking maybe she is a faggot. Calls her in last panel.
Top goes like: Yes? Is it about what I said earlier? What about?..
Middle panel explains why she (friend) thinks people have been calling her a faggot. Last panel is just like last page, considering that maybe it because she really is a faggot (literal translation gay/homo).
My japanese is super bad but I'm gonna wing this for fun.
Azusa: (You are) radiant!
Yui: Ehehe... thanks.
Azusa: (expecting a return compliment) So... So...
Yui:Sorry, but the one I find radiant is.... Mugi-chan.
Yui: Azusa is radiant too, but not on the same level.... sorry.
I'm translating "Kouki" as "radiant" because that seems close but I might be missing how its supposed to be used.
Yeah, I inferred something like this but I wanted a translation. Thanks guys, it was a pretty good read. Some random Dijon. I don't know if I can drop NSFW links here, but it is called Azunyan's Sadness.
Okay my japanese is too shit to do a line-by-line translation of page 2
Basically Ui is wondering why Azusa is so bummed
Azusa is thinking about how Yui always hugs her and thinks of her as cute but she wants to be seen as radiant (beautiful?) in her eyes, and thinks "stupid Yui-senpai..."
Then Ui calls "AZUSA CHAN"
Did you seriously misread 好き (suki) as kouki or are you being comically illiterate for trolling purposes? Like, isn't that one of the first words weebs typically learn?
If you used a dictionary, pls note that the "ki" at the end is a part of the word. Don't let this discourage you though, your translation seems fine otherwise.
A: I like you!
Y: Ehehe, thank you
Y: But I'm sorry. The one I like is Mugi-chan
Y: I like Azunyan too, but it's not that kind of "like". I'm sorry.
U: Something seems to be wrong
Y: So Azunyan didn't know, huh. We've been dating for a year now.
A: Always clinging to me like even though she was seeing someone...
A: If you do something like that all the time, of course I'd fall for you.
A: Stupid Yui-senpai...
U: So you skipped the club today.
A: Yeah, I did.
U: Were you crying?
A: It has nothing to do with Ui, please ignore it.
U: I... I can't ignore that!
U: I don't know if I can be of any help, but if it's fine, please talk to me
A: It's a bit uncomfortable here, can you come to my place?
A: (I'll just end up crying anyways)
Damn. That's fucking hard.
Who friend zones this goddess?
U: I see, so onee-chan did...
U: You know, I was the same a year ago. I liked onee-chan.
U: Even now I still like her.
U: When I heard she started seeing Tsumugi-san, I couldn't stand straight for a whole month, since I thought she would've been on my side forever.
A: I wonder...
A: All that cuddling was probably just about making fun of me...
A: If only I'd known from the start, I wouldn't have come to like her this much...
This reminded me of how I dislike translating stuff. Especially with languages with as much differences as English and Japanese you essentially have to rewrite the text or it just ends up looking like shit, and I'm not a particularly good writer. I'd rather just read stuff than wonder how it should sound in other languages.
That's generally how everyone who isn't braindead feels.
Honestly, I can't understand translating stuff for free. Even if you spend hours on it, you know it's never going to be even half as good as the original. And I feel like translating stuff is like catching a man a fish instead of encouraging him to fish for himself.
You can read something as simple as the doujin posted here in about half a year.
Also, there are only 2 fish worth catching, the English fish and the Japanese fish. You've already managed one through the virtue of being born somewhere lucky or playing games as a kid, what's another few years for another one?
All you need is the discipline to work on it for half an hour a day.
Sure, it'll take years to reach fluency. But it's not like you wake up one morning and know everything. It's a gradual process, with more material becoming available as time goes by.
