"Here.", the young girl beckoned. It was quite an unfamiliar situation for me, to have a young girl ask me to go to bed with her. Not that I was ugly, or awkward - I wasn't - but I wasn't handsome or charismatic either. If you could describe me I guess the most you could say would be that of an "extra" from one of those American Television shows, like Greece or Jersey Shore. Being fourteen years of age I had just begun showing interest in girls.
Girls sickened me. Therefore, I was sick of girls.
Girls enchanted me. Therefore, I was enchanted with girls.
It seemed a paradox. But a paradox is a word with seven letters - three vowels, four consonants. My hatred, my love of girls was like another seven words with three vowels and four consonants - where there was a "paradox", there was also an "affable."
I was "affable" towards girls. I smiled when they smiled. I didn't smile because I was happy. I smiled because the sickness girls induced in me provoked a reaction not too dissimiliar from the sensation of vomitting
But I did not vomit, when a girl smiled at me. I smiled back. That was my "affable." That was my "paradox."
And then I realized I'm a character in a Nisio work so all this was to say DUDE LOLI SNATCH LMAO
>>137124004 The boy wants to kill the girl because she's older and more likely to die first of the disease, so her death would get more attention and the disease would be named after her, kind of like being a martyr for the sake of others who may be cured from what doctors can learn from the ones who have the disease, while the boy suspects his death would be a sidenote and may even have his negative qualities be the only thing that gets focus. Should the girl die from something else, she wouldn't get that attention. What he wants is to die from the disease and make other people acknowledge his sacrifice as the thing that saves their children should they catch the same disease.
We haven't gotten much info on why the girl wants to kill the boy, perhaps to ensure that she dies first from the disease or she'd kill him before he killed her, but that was only revealed at the end of the latest chapter.
>>137134212 1: why should it be suddenly be less obscure if he dies? Children have died before therefore it should have a name.
2: Why does he think it would be named after him. Even if the doctor said it he's just a doctor and doesn't have the authority for that. Normaly people which discovered something decied the name for that.
3:He has no idea what individuality means. His illness doesn't make him more individual also being famous doesn't make you individual.
4: He should know that he can't kill her without people eventually finding out that he murdered her. Therfore he will be remembered as murderer and not as "tragic hero" as he wants so it doesn't make sense to kill her. He could kill anyone if he wants to be remembered as murderer.
5:Why does he assume that her name will be left in history when she dies from the disease? Children have died before her and being charasmatic isn't enough. She might appear for one day in the newspaper.
6: She even stated she've gotten no media attention for a stupide reason so why kill her the media doesn't care about her.
Nothing makes sense and his assumptions are retarded. But whatever i guess this is all just a setup so the kid has a reason to kill the other kid.
>>137134835 >why should it be suddenly be less obscure if he dies? Children have died before therefore it should have a name Anon, it's a disease where he sees scribbles over random things, do you really want to hold this to serious medical protocol? If it helps, then just assume it has a science name but not a common one.
>all the rest The kid is clearly an edgy idiot, I don't think anyone's disputing this.
>>137134835 Question, did you even read this? Or do you not get that the kid is clearly not right in the head, so your "plotholes" are just complaining that a kid with a warped view on the world has a warped view?
>>137134835 1: Obscure in the sense that it was dubious. The doctor diagnosing the kid said he didn't even think it was real. 2: His disease and his wish were broadcast throughout the media. 3: That isn't a plothole, you're just nitpicking. He means individual as in unique, like a main character. If you've read Medaka Box or literally anything else by Nisio you'd be familiar with this angle. 4: He rationalizes feeling sympathy for the girl and not immediately murdering her by saying that would make it obvious he did it, so some part of him is trying to get away with it. 5: See 1. It's revealed in chapter 2 that he did jump to conclusions since, as you know, the girl's circumstances make her hard to publicize. 6: He made the decision to kill her before he found out about her circumstances.
tl;dr read the fucking manga before complaining about it
>>137134835 If you haven't realized it yet, the MC is kind of an idiot and Nisio is not doing anything to hide this. None of the stuff you've mentioned is an actual plothole, it's just stuff that the MC believes because he's a dumb kid.
>>137135064 So you argue it's not bad writing the he is just retarded. That argument would apply to any badly written character and story. And not just his charactar is completly unrealistic and the whole "the illness will have my name thing" is a plothole. >>137135086 1: OKay so children have died and he didn't believed it was new also he examined the mc and could say without being told that he sees faces etc etc scribbled.... 2.Still doesn't explain why it will be named after him. 3:Well they were other children with this disease so it doesn't make him unique either. 4:No he thinks he can kill her when he's carefull like not at the exact same day as he comes to the hospital. 5: Even if her circumstances would make it easy to publish it would still wouldn't explain why he assumed it in the first place. Children have died before for unkown reasons. 6: Yeah but why does he still wants to do it after he finds it out? Doesn't make sense there is no reason to kill her if the media doesn't care about her.
tl;dr i read it 3 times it's a badly written manga with a badly witten story with a badly written set up and badly wirtten characters. The art is the only good thing about this mange. If you think this manga is any good for another reason than the art or seeing two children trying to kill reach other than you're either overly biased because you like the mangaka or you haven't read enough mangas to know what good character and a good story is.
>>137135940 If you haven't realized it yet, Nisio's shtick when writing manga is that he takes a ridiculously convoluted premise and plays it completely straight.
>>137135940 >And not just his charactar is completly unrealistic Nah, cynical kids who are ready to do anything to receive attention and self-validation are normal. This is just taken to its extreme. Or maybe not even that, considering there were cases where kids set buildings on fire or caused other incidents just so people would take note of them >the whole "the illness will have my name thing" is a plothole Not really. It's something the kid just assumed and the doctor likely just gave him an okay to satisfy his curiosity since no matter what, the kid won't live long to see whether he gets named after the disease or not. Doctors lying to patients who are already doomed isn't exactly strange.
>>137136240 I don't have a manga bookmarked with just 2 chapters out but i can recommend you mangas and you can only read 2 chapters. After that you can come again and tell me how much better these two chapters are than the two shit chapters of this manga.
>>137136114 Yeah you're right i have to correct myself: I read it 3 times it's a badly written manga, with a badly wirtten story, with a badly written setup and badly written characters...so far*.
>>137134835 >2: Why does he think it would be named after him. Even if the doctor said it he's just a doctor and doesn't have the authority for that. Normaly people which discovered something decied the name for that. What the fuck am I reading? Of course they can, they literally do it in real life all the time, google it. Do you think his request is absurd? Fuck no
>>137136365 >could be cuddling with a little serial killer in his last moments >instead decides to kill her for muh fame after death I hope he manages to kill her and then die to a japanese truck or japanese cold just to be fucked in every way.
>>137143522 Nisio's series often have characters that are simply born with a natural disposition towards killing people and do it as naturally as breathing despite not actually wanting to kill. There's this guy >>137143717 , as well as the entire Zerozaki family from Zaregoto and Ningen. Heck, Munakata would've probably been taken into the Zerozaki family had he been in the Zaregoto/Ningen setting.
