Nujabes birthdays tomorrow
Would /a/ be down to join me for a Samurai Champloo stream?
Can do noon. I'm in the EST zone
I'll be around by noonish or one. Can do later as well
I'll be doing it on either Vaughn or Connectcast, depending on which will work best
Out of all of the tracks, this was my jam
Gonna start the stream at 2PM EST/11AM PST, will most likely pick the dub, and will only skip the OP and ED if requested
fun fact, J-Dilla was born the same day as Nujabes
love you guys
Now I know what I'm listening to tonight. Thanks man!
Yeah man totally. Hell while you're at it, tell that to Abilities.
I really like Force of Nature's work on the OST but not so much his other stuff, strangely enough. My favourite was definitely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqeY2mEfNMk
I like pretty much all of Fat Jon's stuff, though. Am looking for more stuff like his, relaxing as fuck.
I know his stuff, really nice; but I'm looking for more... abstract (?) beats. On the slower, more subdued end of downtempo, I guess.
I should probably start by getting his other albums then, thanks.
I guess this could count too. daoko collaborating with indie producers, before she went major (not that there's anything wrong with her major stuff): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQgbEZtdF5k
Jesus, can you imagine if they had died on the same day as well? I would legit start believing there was some sort of unknown supernatural shit going on in the world that no one knew about.
I like both beats posted but I find them a little boring myself, they're just missing that something that really makes me move, it's some nice ambient music thought.
Have you heard this?
My thread theme.
Yours is good too anon.
Is it bad that I honestly prefer Nujabes' songs with raps opposed to his instrumentals?
What are your favorites?
>minmi's voice is so soothing it's almost hypnotic
I've noticed a trend of female, Japanese rappers with really soft voices recently.
Hell, they've made it into our anime already. izumi macra in Space Dandy is a notable example, and maybe Bonjour Suzuki in Yuri Kuma Arashi.
Think I've added that to my backlog ages ago but forgot about it. Haven't really listened to Ta-Ku yet either, so thanks for that.
These for instrumentals
And most of my favorites with vocals have been posted but here's one I love listening to when I'm in a good mood
Oh no anon I'm groovin to these jams alright. >>137134524
are fuckin based.
HIRO MAKE IT HAPPEN
>Those Haru/Viotex I don't fucking know what the fuck remixes of Luv sic.
I love them.
>>137139769 is a pal of mine
speaking of raujika, can anyone think of a song that sounds like this one ?
i just love it, yet can't get more like that :(
Struggle to listen to versions of だんご大家族 and 時を刻む唄 unless I'm drunk and alone. It's alright to be an emotional wreck and cry like a bitch when no one else is around or awake.
That remix was pretty decent, though the FF remix seemed a bit out of place.
Could someone here link to a mega or something to download his songs/the homework editions? I actually just got into his stuff recently but stuff like the Auruarian Dance one got taken down.
Minder that MIDICRONICA also made great music for Samurai Champloo
My memory fails me, but they also did the song at the end of the last episode
And whatever episode this was in (the one you are referring to) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jabKnqYrpbU
>not posting superior song
lets fix that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4JcJ0xNlDo
>nujabes and J Dilla born on the same day
something about the 7th man
>working instead of focusing solely on steaming duties
Wow, putting food on your table comes before us anons huh? I thought you loved us more than that. ;_;
T-thanks for the stream
>Stream is cutting in and out for no reason
>Already missed the entire first episode
>Watched samurai champloo
>Fell in love with the music. Start downloading Nujabes.
>One of my new favorite artists and genres. Every single song is beautiful and powerfully moves me.
>Look for more Nujabes
>He died tragically.
I was fucking heartbroken. One of the few celebrity deaths that truly upsets me somewhere deep inside.
I get so fucking comfy whenever I hear that piano.
>Soundcloud dosn´t find a match
>Shit is still on the run
I´m not going to sleep until i find were this song, promo or clip sound has been made.
Modal Soul > Spiritual State > Metaphorical Music
Modal Souls is the only album I'm really a huge fan of. The first two songs that open the album up are absolutely brilliant. The Singn has some great writing to it. World's End Rhapsody is one of the grooviest hip-hop tracks. Light of the Land is absolutely amazing too. Don't like Luv 3 or any of the other Luvs because quite honestly I think Shing02 is absolutely fucking awful. In total Modal has 5 tracks that are extremely memorable, the rest of the tracks are absolute top quality as well (aside from Exclipse which I don't really dig), and only one stinker.
The only tracks that were grat enough for me to remember without loading up Metaphorical in foobar are the opener and Beat Laments. The vocal performances from the featuring artists feel weak but the beats themselves are great, and while the instrumental tracks are not as melancholic as they were in Modal, they still manage to hit a spot.
Spuritual is just... I honestly can't remember anything that graet about it, and that's why I intially rated it below Spiritual State, but I'm relistening to it right now and honestly the beats are substantially more emotional. The production sounds quite muddled in comparison though.
Overall feeling I have with the 3 albums is Jun's beats are really great, but aside from Modal Soul, the coval performances feel very amateurish and the albums could do with less of the. Hydeout Productions is on a whole higher level though.
Part 6 is god tier
>A finale to play for my mate
Always tear up
On /a/ and by certain posters on /mu/ absolutely. To many anime fans who have no interest in music he's probably their only exposure to hip-hop in general thanks to Samurai Shampoo. In music culture and industry? Not at all. He was a great producer.
>with how connectcast is
That's literally not true from my own experience of using CC and it's extensive.
Get a better connection or give up. Or can your computer not even manage running a streamer and video file at the same time?
> watching streams > watching streams with /a/
Checking out Nomak and Kondor that were mentioned somewhere above, pretty dope. Not as good as DJ Okawari but still nice. I wish there was more piano like instrumentals that are weirdly upbeat and chill at the same time like Okawari's, or some of Force of Nature's stuff as well even with no paino or whatever.
Fucking RIP Nujabes
Greatest musician of our time. helped make the soundtrack in the history of anime. He made such beautiful melodies including
>Luv Sic Parts 1-6 (2 being a personal favorite)
>Tsuragi No Mai,
>World’s End Rhapsody,
>I Miss You,
>World Without Words,
>Voice of Autumn,
>The Space Between Two World,
>Rainyway Back Home,
>Letter From Yokosuka,
>Sky Is Falling (new one I just discovered and love)
>After Hanabi -Listen to My Beats- (another personal favorite)
>Just forget (another personal favorite)
Truly a Legend.
Honestly i don't know if you're baiting but i kind of agree his best work was in Champloo where he had collaborators that carried his weight, if you listen to any other hip hop at all his solo stuff gets kind of mundane and even boring sometimes.
Even Watanabe himself has said he prefers the dubbed version of his works. you snobby purists are annoying as fuck. If you wanna read so badly, then read manga. The dubs are better in THIS case. Get over it.
Having listened to his solo discog as well as what's in champloo i respectfully disagree i can see what you mean by heart because his solo stuff is alot more flowery but i can't help but feel it gets boring after awhile.
I can assure you we are different and whether he was baiting or not it's my opinion. If you think Nujabes is the best that's fine too you could have done worse.
I rank all of them at the same level.
The only difference is which album is suited to each occasion.
Modal Soul is for those moments when you want some hip, groovy music that pumps you up.
Spiritual state is for bright, warm, sunny days perfect for a little walk in the park.
Metaphorical Music is for all occasions, but I guess it was ever so slightly weak.
But Feather and Spiritual State (track) is a step above others. No other tracks even compare.
There you again. Shitting up a good thread.
Ill just stop replying to you. Maybe that will make you go away.
>Le epic reddit meme
Its not a differing opinion I cant stand, its your blatantly shit taste. Champloo his best? More than half of champloo's track was force of nature and tsutchie. How the fuck can anyone with a brain seriously think that when albums like modal soul and spiritual state exist? Ugh.
Because a good majority of his material is really underwhelming what's good is really good but champloo definitely has the best variety among all of his material because he had collaborators. The fact you didn't mention metaphorical music which is his best solo work is just as puzzling to me as the idea that the best of his work was with co-producers.
It's even weirder to me that you'd have this overtly negative a reaction over Nujabes of all people, hip-hop and japan have much better to offer for you to be so incredibly upset about.
Thank you very much for tuning in
Be sure to come back this coming friday for Valentines stream
Y'all have been a pleausre
It's because he's an artist who many people genuinely feel connected to. His music speaks to the soul like a lot of other hip hop artists never achieve.
I mean I didn't like any hip hop at all until I heard Nujabes. In fact I would say I actively disliked it but he completely changed my perspective of what that genre of music was about. I still don't like most of it but I'll give it a chance at least.
I had a strong feeling this was the case and theres nothing wrong with this but in the grand scheme of things Nujabes is a decent artist with a handful of strong songs but he's no god even in his home country there are others that do what he does much better this guy's>>137175026 got the right idea though that mixtape is fantastic.
I'll listen to any
recsyou have and see if that changes my perspective at all but to me he is an extremely special artist. There's just a connection there that makes him more than just a decent artist to me.
Nujabes is great. Yeah Id say some albums put him close to god tier. Hes far better than decent and if theres artists better than him out there than Id say theyre elder god of the nine realms tier.
Id probably disagree with any 'better' you have though if you think champloo was his best.
