Is this the worst KyoAny show?
I swear to christ, the amount of revisionism on Kyoani shows here is horrible. Both shows were trashed here when they aired, and they deserved it.
Tamako market was the most boring shit imaginable, and KnK's plot was all over the place, with an unlikable cast.
I dropped this after the finger scene, but I'm gonna give this one more shot
Sometimes it's less rose-tinted-glasses but things taking a slide.
Sometimes I find it hard to remember Kyoani did FMP ever at all because they went straight from that to Air, then Kanon.
To me they've always been about the moe factor apart from that one time in their history.
It's entertaining and has good production values.
They're basically extremely conservative, avoiding anything remotely ambitious.
go fuck yourself, kiddo
Haruhi>Eupho>Amabri>>>Nichijou>Free ES>Free>K-On>Chuu2>Clannad>K-On S2>KnK>>>Chuu2Ren
These are only the ones I've seen to completion. I dropped Clannad AS and I'm struggling with Hyouka and Tamako. Will never watch any more Keyshit and Lucky Star's art still makes me puke after a decade. Don't know why I haven't watch FMP, I like Gonzo's series. I'd put Phantom World between Chuu2Ren and KnK.
Why do we have to call it Musaigen no Phantom World? It's not called that. It says right there on the cover of the book Myriad Colors Phantom World, it has an official English name. The Japanese name is Musaigen no Fantomu Warudo.
This same shit happened with Hibike! Yufoniamu. Who is responsible?
All their recent stuff has been pretty bad with the exception of Hibike. They need to get back to simplicity like with Komugi and Fumoffu, instead of trying to be deep like with Endless Eight.
P-perhaps it's actually some kind of nipponjin fetish that we gaijins just aren't aware of.

Tamako Market (TV)
Amagi Brilliant Park
Haven't seen FMP, Clannad or Free.
I remember Tamako used to be regarded as a bad show, but people recently have been rewatching it and rating it higher now. I hope the same happens for KnK soon, where people rewatch it and realize it's not as bad as many people think, and that there's actually a lot of good things to it.
I started to value Tamako more after the movie gave the status quo end of the series some closure. And I'm respecting original anime series more and more as the LN fad goes on.
KnK doesn't have a good story so I don't think that assessment of it will ever change, but I don't feel like everyone has fully recognized how good it looks. Like nobody is impressed by Yozakura Quartet's story but it's still loved for ryochimo's amazing animation. KnK might deserve similar appreciation.
>Like nobody is impressed by Yozakura Quartet's story but it's still loved for ryochimo's amazing animation. KnK might deserve similar appreciation.
Yeah I don't really understand all the hate for KnK. The story isn't anything to write home about but they absolutely nailed it with the animation, atmosphere/coloring, characters, interactions, and designs.
KnK still has a great romantic story between the lines, I think it's its strongest aspect and many people ignore it completely. If KnK was talked about as a romance or supernatural drama, it wouldn't be rated that low, but people pay more attention to the action and good guys/bad guys storyline, instead of a tale of bonds.
I agree completely with you about the animation, though. I always insist in these threads that KnK's visuals are greatly under appreciated, and complaining about people that call Ishidate a bad director, but I can't complain about him when he made KnK look that good.
I have nothing to respond to you, I just wanted to post this pretty picture
Ishidate did nothing wrong and needs to direct VEG.
Who should be series composer for VEG anyway?
Ishidate might be the best hope of the studio branching out into action once again.
Action isn't the only thing it had going for it, though. The floating planet and shape shifting monster designs and non-CGI explosions and snowy finale were all nice to look. It turned extremely colorful any time magic was involved.
Can't they just cut the useless fat and just show Mai stretching and doing limbo and shit?
It's not like anybody watch this show for the "story" or the characters.
There's not a single person in this thread talking about kyoani like it's their "friend"
>False Flagging this hard
is /a/ the new /v/?
Has this been mentioned yet?
>It's a Madoka and Monogatari ripoff.
I find it more enjoyable than Amagi Park, I still don't get why people liked that.
My suspicion is the "Munto is shit" meme causes younger anons to stay away from it so most posters don't even know if it really is bad.
The first OVA is a waste of time but it gets better after that.
Comedy I can give.
The setting nope.
Don't let the cute lewd girls from Amagi cloud your judgement Anon.
>thinking phantom world has more likable characters than amagi
>thinking an amusement park setting isn't more interesting than a generic fantasy setting
jesus, talk about clouded judgment
KyoAni lost its way. They are stuck with making anime for bad in-house LNs. Instead of trying to lead itself and the industry to a better place.
>KyoAni lost its way
That's implying they had a way to begin with, they lack variety, every anime they have ever made was a lackluster highschool slice of life. Their only strength is high quality animation, the characters are always boring cardboard cutouts with absolutely no personality and the stories never go anywhere meaningful. They have never dug deep enough and have always reused the same worn out cliches and settings. Even bottom of the barrel studios like A-1 Pictures get out of their comfort zone one in a while even if the results aren't necessarily good. That's what Kyoani as a studio has always been missing, the balls to innovate and try something fundamentally different.
>Kyoukai no Kanata
>Amagi Brilliant Park
>Full Metal Panic
I might have missed one or two but I think that made my point, it's also important to note that most of these have something to do with highschool clubs.
However, none of them has the exact same feel, and most of them really don't even feel similar to one another at all, which is more important in most cases than the actual setting of the show.
16/16 of their TV series are high school characters. The only exception is Munto (jr. high) and High Speed (elementary). Of course they're different genres but still the sheer quantity of high school can't be overlooked. It's funny.
Clannad After Story

At least Free has a reason for fanservice.
>calling Haru ugly
What the fuck is wrong with you? But the others are really ugly though. Blame Utsumi's shit taste, thank god Takemoto is in control now.
I am seriously amazed at how high the peaks of autism /a/ is reaching are with Phantom World.
All we have is 2 (two) episodes. How underage do you have to be to judge it as if you already saw it all?
So far it's nothing astounding and if you ask me it's subpar in comparison to the first episodes of other KyoAni shows (Amagi, Hibike) but goddamn, at least wait for episode 4-5 to give your judgment
Let's be honest, KyoAni packs far more fanservice into most of their shows than people give them credit for, they're just not super overt about it.
Idiots just like to treat them like they're above fanservice because K-on didn't have anything more lascivious than Mio's rice bowl.
Clean your eyes from cum or something
Fine, Haru and Ikuya are okay.
I still think they're bottom of the barrel compared to boys from their other shows.
I accurately assessed that it was garbage the instant I read it was a Kyoani honorable mention LN show. Even Kyoani doesn't think it's good enough for their prize. Didn't even need to watch 1 second of it. The first 2 episodes have only confirmed that. If you need to watch 10 minutes shy of 2 hours of a show before judging it then you aren't using the cognitive abilities of your brain.
>A little, but was it anywhere near the degree of Chuunibyou ?
>Shit was at least amusing too.
God, the comedic timing and editing is too damn perfect
If you're going to complain about fanservice, high school, fighting monsters, and magic then you might as well just leave and stop watching anime.
I don't even care what studio does this anime, it's fun as hell and I love it
>If you're going to complain about fanservice, high school, fighting monsters, and magic then you might as well just leave and stop watching anime.
Or you could stop being a shit taste faggot and watch good anime.
>Yamada and Yoshida make a modern Kaleido Star
Keep telling yourself that NEET, enjoy living off your parents and watching sexualized animated girls until you die. What you're doing now isn't even living.
One of the worst.

Apparently it's a magical girl comedy harem. Looks very comfy and romantic from the promo too.
>If KyoAni did a girls' gymnastics series, we would have been given loads of leotards, ass shots, and flexible girls
Yes, please, yes.
Although I'm personally a fan of one-piece/competition swimsuits, so a Free - Girls Edition would be neat as well.
>The subtitle for this volume of Robot Heart Update is indeed "Santa Claus's Friends," which was listed as an honorable mention in the 5th Kyoto Animation Awards. It's a revised manuscript that the editors felt would be publishable and the author wanted it published as well, so it is being published alongside the second Phantom World novel.
>Basically it takes place on an island where people's emotions are used as energy to power robots that live alongside them. The protagonist gets involved in a plot that threatens to the livelihood of the robots as he's investigating a mysterious robbery from the electronics store he works in.
They're super-powered robot companions who are fueled by human emotions, I'm not sure if that actually counts as magical girls.
Also fuck that trash, they removed Santa from it.
If you can tell that a show is absolutely nothing for you before watching it, isn't it better for everyone involved, if you don't watch it?
If you hate something after watching it, you become dedicated to your hate and make it a pain in the ass for the people that actually like it.
I mean, I'm not faulting any girl for liking Free. It's clearly aimed at them, so they shall enjoy it.
Why does Blue dress like a magical girl?
>Wants to see the flat girl who eats things with a pudgy belly
Kyoani haters, everyone
>There are actually people who thinks Musaigen is their best
KyoAni tier for Musaigen:
MC: Mid tier
Girls: Low tier
Animation: Average and nothing special tier
Music: Generic tier
Fappable: Sub-par tier
Every category is beaten by several other works KyoAni did.
>MC: Mid tier
Finally somebody who understands that Haruhiko is the best part about Phantom World.
Does anyone know what exactly happened in the original proposal or are we stuck with that short blurb they had on their award site once and that didn't really give away anything?
If the publisher changed an interesting premise into generic battle harem No. 12747488 I'm going to be mad.
>viewers complain kyoani are too prudish, they dont provide service and dont even add jiggle
>kyoani gives them the most over the top jiggling boobs service ever
>viewers complain they only use bland SOL settings and never animate action
>they put detailed elaborate action scenes in every episode
and then viewers call it their worst and nobody buys it, its a rough business making cartoons
Fairies a shit, any creature with pointy ears deserves a life of abuse and suffering.
Because she can? Because she's a chuuni or her owner/partner is a chuuni?
Are you a faggot that wouldn't put his cute robot girl life partner into frilly magical girl clothes?
Jokes aside though, I have no idea. I'm not gonna buy every single one of kyoani's crappy LNs and as far as I know it doesn't have any scans yet so I haven't read it.
Why is /a/ barely mentioning Ruru?
She is the best thing in KyoAni for years.
>you will never have a cute fairy companion
quads have spoken
now trips for Mai being best girl
I like it. I couldn't get through Chuuni S2 but this seems good so far.
I like that the show is being self-aware and not using her tits just as a sight gag. Also the magic she is using is based on actual researched shit. So it's a little deeper than your typical KyoAni fare.
Reminder Chuuni2 is KyoAni's best animation in years.
She's why I started watching, but my heart was won over by Reina. All girls are top-tier though, except AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I browsed /a/ a lot more when KnK was airing and from what I remember, people hated the shit out of it the whole time it was airing. Even fans seemed to be watching it openly because the mc was cute and that's all
Definitely. Shinka > Sento >>>>> Mai
>She has tits, like these other girls with tits
She's complete different than those two in both personality and role in their respective series
Kyon has shit taste in girls though.
Replace Haruhi with KnK.
Haruhi and Yuki are god tier.
>biggest beta faggot imaginable
That's just you.
Dark Flame Master is great, at least.
>hating based Yuuta
Who hurt you?
They got together in the end. What more do you want?
I honestly don't get how people could hate Yuuta.
Friendly reminder. Haruhi was the series that put KyoAni on the map.
She does a little hop and her legs swap places because their tweener animator was obviously slacking off.
Which stage play would you want them to enact and who would take what role?
Hestia had more personality than that sow
>Liking this super below average show more than Amagi
Seriously? I know your taste is awful, but come on.
Can Reina theoretically kill Ruru and DD?
I want to see Reina in a life and death situation.
Will the novels give us that?
How can anyone wish such a dreadful thing on this gentle feminine creature?
>The violence toward the MC and the MC's violence toward Ruru is the only thing I hate about the show....
Yeah, there needs more physical slapstick among the girls especially on each other
That's what Chuunibyou nailed
When is there first fight when they're truly tested?
Probably volume 2 that has some crazy things happen as a result of the appearance of a strong central antagonist. Too bad KyoAni won't be adapting volume 2, which is when the series starts to get interesting and more serious.
Looking forward to when DD turns into a true demon.
Girls are at the most prettiest between life and death, Jim.
What could it be?
Related to the general recognition of phantoms?
Also, do you think the incident was an accident or intentional?
>>viewers complain kyoani are too prudish, they dont provide service and dont even add jiggle
Nobody ever complained about that, KyoAni girls have been 10/10 in the physical department for, like, a decade, including their many fanservice shots.
Chuu2 and KnK both had elaborate action scenes, this isn't breaking any new ground.
Pimping out the main girl's breasts with Gainax(tm) Hydraulic Lift Kicks doesn't make her likeable or save the rest of the show.
>they didn't kiss therefore he's a beta faggot
He was fit perfectly for Rikka which is why their romance blossomed without a kiss.
This is why he got the girl with the tightest ass of all KyoAni and you wouldn't.
>I never watched E8 or the movie.
Literally the best parts of Haruhi, what are you doing nigger
>the girl with the tightest ass
Tamako Market is not outright shit. It's a top tier idea with top tier execution with a stupid gimmick that kinda ruins the whole package. I still like it for the parts without that stupid gimmick, but I understand why people can't get past it.
Tamako Love Story is top tier though. Better movie than Disappearance imo. It's really everything the conclusion of Tamako Market should have been.
A reaction most suitable for plebeians
But Free! was one of their best anime.
>Is this the worst KyoAny show?
That's not Free.
There really wasn't that much gay, it was a beautiful show about friendship and swimming. The ending and the OVA got really fucking gay, though.
>There are people right now who thinks KnK isn't KyoAni's best
Rewatching KnK right now thanks to this thread.
What went wrong?
I believe all character opinions has been posted for the past week!
Too bloody adorable.
Does Reina have any serious moments in season one?
I'm looking forward to her being fleshed out. Also, will she and Koito interact?
Angry Reina is pretty cute.
Buffet and hotel sex afterwards.
Hyouka and Nichijou is the only good Kyoani shows
Rest are fucking garbage, especially this one airing this season
"lol boobs, so good show"
