Why is torrenting considered better than streaming?
Because streaming sites have to pay for their bandwidth. They also have to make sure people can watch their shit, so they butcher the quality in order to provide an acceptable bitrate. I don't want to compromise, and >136303415 as well.
Also, by torrenting you don't make yourself and others rely on a single server/host. You can archive, and others will find the series in the future when no existing streaming site will have it.
recently have been resorting to streaming. It's not so bad, i've never had that big of a problem with quality or ads. Sometimes the subbing is trash tier though. I guess it helps that i dont have 3mbps internet either, but again charter is lik e30 bucks for 60mbps.
Can't easily screenshot streams.
But I'll still use Crunchyroll if I'm having a lazy weekend and don't want to transfer a series to my PS4 and my phone.
Holy shit kill yourself, you cumguzzing fuck
Streambait threads don't go as far as they used to. The old ones were powerful enough to summon Diaz. These new ones ain't shit.
I deserved that.
It's not getting any better.
>using VLC for anime
>watching on crunchyroll
>owning a console
>watching anime on a phone
this better fucking be bait.
masterani.me and kissanime for example offer streams in the same quality as you can download.
So with a fast enough internet speed it doesnt really matter.
Actually they just upload them to google drive apparently, its pretty surprising they aren't getting taken down.
Well, you have your reasons in that thread.
Then again, I won't complain if people prefer streaming, because I ususally only download stuff I will probably rewatch a lot or I if I want to make screenshots, usually about half the things I watch each season.
Otherwise I don't want to bother, because seeding is tedious for me.
>masterani.me and kissanime for example offer streams in the same quality as you can download.
check for yourself, 1080p horriblesubs rip
Its literally the same file you can torrent, but as a direct http serve.
I personally don't mind streamrips for airing shows. But if I have to archive a series I liked, there better be a good release of a BD rip.
I'm probably the only one thinking this, but I would prefer if some groups would stop wasting their time trying to catch up with streaming sites and just focused to provide good "final" releases for a series once the BD have come out.
Way better quality since it is not compressed to hell and beyond.
I still stream though since my download speed sucks complete and utter ass. Takes in the order of 1~3 hours to download a single episode.
If I had a better connection I wouldn't bother streaming.
The only issue with crunchyroll is that the streaming sucks speed wise, I select the 720 version and it always craps out on me while netflix never does.
If that was fixed I'd never torrent anime again.
as long as its not lossy compressed for the transfer it makes no difference if a file is phyisically on your harddrive or on a remote computer, as long as the pipeline is fast enough.
Sometimes I feel you people still think in bandwiths of 2000.
Time to show you how retarded you are.
For this I will be using Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin Movie [UTW] (1080p) because I had it and it's a series known for being beautiful.
I've been wondering, how come when kissanime eventually upload the BD version of an anime it looks exactly like the same shit as if you torrented it but when it comes to airing anime there is a significant difference from watching horriblesub rips on their site than as if you torrented it.
And here's the screenshot from torrent, you can compare for yourself if you believe i've messed with anything.
>artificially adding new frames
Unless you're watching something that consists exclusively of pans, you are a faggot.
Who the fuck doesn't have adblock? Why are you even posting here? How the fuck did you get a virus in 2016 from a streaming site? Why are you streaming in the first place? How old are you, jesus fucking christ? AGAIN, why are you posting here?
>this entire fucking thread
It can't all be bait. Fucking newfag central. Lurk the fuck more or kill yourselves.
If you stream on any kissanime variant you literally need to kill yourself. You are giving money to whatever fag runs those sites. Horrible. If you are a lazy streamfag at line ast CR/Funi pay money to publishers.
Idk why everyone is arguing.
Torrents: higher quality and you actually have the file
Streaming: not as good but more convenient in certain cases
Everyone is a faggot. Everyone is wrong. Fuck petty eliteness. Everyone trying to prove that one is better than the other should just stfu and watch their anime in 4k 3d like I do
>Unless you have top tier internet connection
Even if you have top tier internet connection, streams have lower quality video (because other people don't have as good connection as you) and web players can't compare in features to actual video players.
I sure hope you're not implying that there's something wrong with based yify
Not that guy, but before you even try it the file is the same but at a lower bitrate which reduces quality. The download will look nicer even if you put the stream link in a media player and use the HS release.
Fuck you I'm on my phone taking a shit. I'll be sure to make no spelling or grammatical mistakes from now on.
Actually, fuck it. I was done shitting 5 minutes ago. Fuck this thread eye donut no why I came
I exclusively watch streams because...
A) it's easier than downloading the torrent
B) streams have both the subbed and dubbed versions
C)I can easily stream anime on my Iphone
and D) streams don't look as bad as people make them out to be
So you know what? Fuck you pretentious elitist faggots.
>inb4 hurr durr look at these cherry picked screen comparisons.
yeah.. no thanks. You guys can waste your time downloading torrents that are ripped from stream sites. I will continue watching streams like most people do.
I'm the guy you're talking to, and looking at their files they're mostly mp4s, considering most good quality anime from torrents is .mkv. It's pretty obvious they're converting them at a quality and size loss.
UTW Mirai fukuin 1080.mkv size: 10gb
Kissanime version of supposedly same file but mp4: 1gb
Any kind of adblock like software you pathetic fucktard with zero reading comprehension. I'm not going to make a list of them and I'm also not a streamfag as I clearly said in my post. But of course you can't read, illiterate subhuman primitive gorilla.
> Bring your laptop into the bathroom to appease my autism!
>dubbed anime is bad
yeah, fuck off. There is literally nothing wrong with watching dubbed anime.
for one, the text moves by too fast for me to read sometimes, and I don't want to have to pause while I watch. and I like to view my shows in the language that I already know, so fuck off.
>A) it's easier than downloading the torrent
if you think downloading a torrent isn't easy you're fucking retarded
all you have to do is just open the .torrent file in your client and wait for it to download
it's not that fucking hard. why do streamfags use this shitty argument so much?
>B) streams have both the subbed and dubbed versions
>C)I can easily stream anime on my Iphone
>owning an iphone
okay, now I see why you think basic tasks like torrenting are difficult
>watching animu on a tiny screen on a dumbed-down overpriced piece of shit made by jews
>D) streams don't look as bad as people make them out to be
they actually do
and with torrents you can get better quality than streams will ever have
oh and also
with streaming sites you usually have to sign up or pay or some bullshit just to watch in 720p
streaming will always be inferior
>everything that I don't like is bait.
elitist downloadfags, everyone.
>the text moves by too fast for me to read sometimes
Both trolling and shitposting are against the rules.
>wait for it to download
nigga. I'm not going to wait an hour and a half just for some stupid fucking download piss off
>Iphone is bad
you're wrong. there aren't many great-looking Android phones out there. Many are chunky and plasticky.
The iphone consistently has had a better design than Android phones.
>and with torrents you can get better quality than streams will ever have
that's just your opinion
>sign up or pay or some bullshit just to watch in 720p
do you even know what kissanime is? it has great streams that are just as good as torrents.
>get a load of this disgusting meat eater, senpai
>all the people jerking off over kissanime
>decide to try it out
>watch a few seconds
>"hey, this isn't too bad"
>video cuts out with a message "please dont block ads on kissanime!"
Nah, fuck that shit. Torrenting for life.
I used to stream from sites like Frostanime or Crunchyroll, then i realized torrents can be automatically downloaded from RSS, so i've got the full quality episode by the time i wake up, and likely before streaming sites re-upload the horriblesubs version by a few hours
and also that the color quality is noticably better. It's ridiculous, but streaming sites have muted colors and blurry lines due to the way compression works.
I'll still stream for shorts and stuff that i don't wanna bother downloading (e.g. i watched JK Meshi), but that's it.
Stop using electronics in the bathroom faggot
Taking a shit is only 5 minutes
It won't take that long
>If the player does not work, CLICK HERE to use your device's player
This actually works, thanks anon.
I'll probably end up using to to stream to my laptop in bed or something, but I don't see it replacing torrenting for my PC.
kiss anime comparison, they actually re-encode the video
I'm gonna take the bait.
No, streaming isn't even faster. I have automatic download set up to start as soon as the sub comes out, then click from my library manager and can enjoy it the way I want it.
Use ublock origin. Better than what you're using right now (especially if it's something like adblock which allows "non intrusive ads", fuck that shit), and since it's not that common, sites never block their content if you use it.
>going on a site, and type the title of what I want to watch
I know it's bait. I know it. Pirate bay, anime dubs, etc, but still, fuck you.
Making people angry is what you want, so just stop it now. I'm giving in.
My meal choices are not the best but what do you eat so you only need a minute to shit
And how often do you shit
I only need to do it around once a day but sometimes I won't need to shit for a day
I once went 4 days without shitting once
>the pirate bay
Bait harder, I can't stop laughing at all this autism.
>5 minutes of work and an entire season will download as each new episode comes out.
>Going on a site and typing in the title of what I want to search and getting everything on my hard drive to watch whenever I want instead of having to click through my browser every time
Is that the reply you wanted?
Non intrusive ads have never really bothered me, I have ABP installed to prevent flashing shit and popups. I have recently run in to a few sites that block shit because I use ABP so I guess it has become too popular now. I'll give ublock origin a try.
Big Anime-streaming is paying denier groups millions of dollars to lobby for their streams on /a/. 99% of anime experts agree that downloading is superior to streaming. It's settled science, and Big Anime-streaming knows it. All they want is for you to hesitate just long enough for that extra month of service to get charged to your card.
I'm tall so I eat a lot but a typical day will be two bowls of porridge, two eggs, two or three sandwiches for lunch and a large dinner with a lot of meat and potatoes along with two or three liters of milk a day. Aiming for about 3500 calories.
The problem isn't about non intrusive ads themselves. Why? Because I can do that alone. For example, I keep them here on 4chan.
While with ABP you get something that doesn't always do what it should, which is blocking ads, and I wouldn't be surprises if they took money to consider some ads as such.
>A) it's easier than downloading the torrent
>yeah.. no thanks. You guys can waste your time downloading torrents that are ripped from stream sites.
Yeah, I bet it is faster checking the streaming site to see if a new episode is out every time for multiple shows instead of just taking 20 minutes of your time setting up an auto-downloader that just pushes everything into a folder on your desktop.
I hope most of you do this as it is painfully easy and comfortable.
Holy shit. I'm lucky if I can eat 2000 calories a day
My breakfast is usually cereal and milk
My lunch is a ham and cheese sandwich with milk
My dinner is a bowl of rice and fish
Sometimes I will skip meals to save time so I buy a lot of nutritional supplements as a drink
I usually drink one a day but if I've skipped a meal, I drink 2 or 3.
I do have a small frame though
I am only 5'3 and 105 pounds
Feels good not being a criminal
since it seems we are blogging about shit
i just drink soylent and my shits have become tiny and clean, i can shit in like 2 minutes and wipe once
soylent is the best meal replacement shake i've ever had, flavor it yourself and it's filling as fuck
It has served me well and I've had no problems with it all save for a few minor external access issues that got resolved with some tinkering.
My only gripe is that the torrent client is lackluster and I had to search for a long time until I found the right fucking regular expressions to use so that the filter works correctly.
I mean look at this shit, is a man really forced to write out something like this just to get a filter working?
Other than that it works and doesn't stop.
I use an external NAS so that I don't have to have my computer up and running all the time, but you can set up an RSS feed and auto-downloading with most torrent clients.
This. I appreciate it when a CR/Funi script is bad and a fansub group fixes that or if the stream's video quality is total horse shit and a group uses better video but I archive the BDs and not the TV versions (unless it's my only option)
Yeah its totally your race not the fact I weigh almost twice what you do and am over a foot taller.
Sorry for blogposting about diet. /fit/ has been overrun with trap tripfags and softcore porn so its been like /b/ lately
Because all it takes is one network stutter between your connection and the stream to make that 1080p stream objectively worse.
It doesn't matter if your connection is god-tier if you're one of ten thousand people edging in on a connection built to handle five thousand, your experience is still going to be dogshit.
Even if you have a god-tier connection, just fucking torrent it anyway. Download the first one, then start the next four or five episodes while watching the first. If your connection is even halfway decent, by the time the first episode is done you've got a bunch more lined up and can now just grab the rest of the series.
If you're watching seasonal, just grab the first episode which strikes your fancy and then start the rest of the torrents while you watch whatever.
Torrenting means you only have to worry about the connection once, for three or four minutes.
Streaming means worrying about the connection every time you watch.
are we really having this thread again?
are there anons who still seriously believe in the streaming meme (actually streaming, not >streaming)?
are there still anons who come into this thread expecting anything else other than >streaming as well as people trying to justify for no benefit other than their own imagination that streaming is "better"?
Face facts guys: streaming is bad. End of story. Stop trying to justify it as a good decision, you have the facts, you have the people backing it up, either fess up to not being capable enough to know how to download (literally two clicks once you have a torrent client) or fess up to downloading shit like the big 3 so much that your ISP sends C&D letters to your mommy and daddy.
i've seen enough >streaming threads in my 9 years of being here to know I don't even need to read >streaming threads anymore to know what is being posted in it.
it's all just glorified shit posting, anyway.
Are you implying HS aren't just stream rips? Please tell me their secret sauce that separates them from the plebeians.
Pretending anything but a BD release and subsequent subbing is somehow superior is hilarious.
Because the typical fag on /a/ has 256 kb internet and can't stream 1080p
>People keep taking the bait of streamshitters
Amazing, they are also daiz shills.
I lost the list, last time I saw it was months ago.
I don't eat out because I don't know any reliable restaurants.
first of all, most anime isn't even aired past 720, and if it is, it'll be 830 or around that.
second of all kissanime looks like fucking dogshit.
tldr - just me responding to some half ass bait because i'm too autistic not to.
We're watching cartoons not Lawrence of Arabia lol
I like how your piecing together random info you've read on /a/ and trying to pass it off as if you know something.
Plenty of anime is released in 1080p (usually streamed from people like CR). It's become more common for anime to be mastered at 900p, however.
My brain is telling me not to respond to this bait, but my autism is screaming at me to reply.
1080 only with BRs and even then only a handful are native 1080p like pic related.
Better question is, why is Chinatsu so perfect?
>not archiving your viatnamese wallpaintings for the dark days of weeaboo-persecution that are inevitably coming in the future
no but seriously why not watch anime in a good quality and then keep it at your ready for future rewatching afterwards?
Because you can't speed up anime you stream.
Don't forget to put on your glasses grandpa.
While all the elitists are here, can someone tell a dumb anon where he would go to find a BD quality download/torrent for Ranma 1/2?
There's one on Nyaa, but there are only a few seeds that maybe show up sometimes throughout the day. It's taking ages to download anything, so I've been streaming KissAnime instead.
>mfw this thread has, quite literally, gone to shit
>implying it wasnt shit in the first place
at least not literally
So where do groups like HS rip their shows from? The actual TV broadcasts or do they rip streams? Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless if it's a Blu-ray rip, wouldn't the quality between a torrent and stream from the same source only be marginally different at best?
I exclusively torrent bloatgirls upscales.
Been working with scripting DCC transfers.
Your DCC GET request includes the position your download is at for resuming downloads.
IF anyone gave enough of a shit (and if mkv allows you to read it from halfway through) you could exploit that for seeking
Archiving and rewatching without wasting bandwidth. Also makes it easier for getting raw BDs later (ie you can rip the ASS files and don't have to wait for a group to release separate BD release)
An anime episode is only 300-400 MB, with 1 MB/s connection, you can download it in 5-7 minutes. If you need 1 hour to download 1 episode, either you live in Australia or you need to find a better ISP. If you actually live in Australia then stop shitposting here, go back to /pol/ nigger.
You can block the advertisers instead of the /ads directory; this also beats most others sites' attempts at anti-adblock.
I don't know why people forget that you can manually edit filters.
The server doesn't send it full tilt. It will adjust speed during play and inconsistencies at ANY POINT in the connection between you your ISP the Internet at large and the remote stream server will effect the quality of service. Which is exactly why you still get buffering on YouTube which is run by a multibillion dollar corporation -- just imagine how frequently shit hits the fan on a fucking nobody company like CR
I stream when I'm at university since there's a good chance they're watching for torrenting and such, and you have to log on to the wifi so they'd definitely be able to know it's me if I torrent. I'm just betting that kissanime and the like is safer to use for this sort of thing while there.
Of course, once I'm at home, it's torrenting all the way
SVP has big problems though, especially when it comes to anime and anime-like 3DCG. Majorly messes up with hardsubs too.
They try to bullshit you with the (for anime) shader and shit but you will get fucked nonetheless.
there. there. are you angry that you live in a shitty third world country?
Some argue quality but since a large majority of /a/ uses HS that argument goes out the windows since they rip straight from Funi or Crunchy.
For me, it's convenience, I don't have to wait for buffering, I can watch it whenever I want and don't have to worry about ads or any other stupid shit that comes with streaming. Webplayers are just terrible in general. Can you imagine watching Bake with all those fucking single frame walls of text? Would be horrid.
After a show is released, it's nice to archive the BD copy as they usually look fantastic.
I don't have my my own computer. I have an iPhone and I stream.
Yes I know but Apple fucks over people who like to torrent. Android had tons of apps and ways that can help you snatch torrents directly to the phone but Apple is a lot more strict. Most apps I find in the App Store won't open torrent files.
Nah. 21. Life is rough sometimes. Work two jobs so getting one really isn't a problem but bills and bills and bills. Also I'd get something that isn't literally shit. After I sink money into a new car my next step is a personal computer. After that I can torrent like a champ and prevent anons from burning me at the stake for having the "Kissanime" logo in my screenshots. Believe me I don't like it either.
maybe you shouldn't have gotten an iphone
