Dat ass....from Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
This episode makes me see the Zelda series in a new light. Link is a genocidal maniac.
>goes to where Ranta is afterwards
Ranta winning the Yumebowl confrimed.
Also Haru winning the Rantabowl confirmed.
No you're supposed to understand that clicking something to death in a video game is far different from stabbing the real thing to death in a live environment. They clearly never hunted any living thing in their lives.
They really didn't do much this episode.
I don't think I've ever seen a fantasy anime ham up muh fights to the death this much.
I wonder if they'll manage to do more than kill one goblin next time. Maybe the series finale will have them killing 2.
>I don't think I've ever seen a fantasy anime ham up muh fights to the death this much.
its trying to force in the 'this isnt a game!' mentality. They feel the crunch of bones, and the warm spray of blood.
First time I've really empathized with an anime character.
Killing something, especially finishing it, with your bear hands, is not something i'd recommend doing if you can avoid it. Watching something, warm, moving, thinking, breathing, go to something warm, still, and "empty"
well, it's really not pleasant, especially if you are a boy around his age.
and mine wasn't even a sentient being
The things that drew me to watch was the cozy bucolic atmosphere, familiar JRPG-like tropes minus a chuuni game story, and expertly done fan service. So far it's delivering on all of that.
I hope the repetitive complainers will drop it soon or come to accept it's NNB with murder hobos, not an epic tale.
I did it with a T/C hawken. meaning I only got one shot. Meaning I had to finish it with a knife.
Except 12 year old me didn't know that bears scream when you cut their throats open.
Deer are more tame, I had shot them before but they usually just go down.
>I did it with a T/C hawken. meaning I only got one shot. Meaning I had to finish it with a knife.
nice. raw bloody meat doesnt taste good, but you probably know that.
>Except 12 year old me didn't know that bears scream when you cut their throats open.
enjoy your freedom friend #Trump2016
Think of this anime as a hunting trip. You go out of the village, you kill something, wash your hands of it, and saunter around the farmers market a while.
That is until someone dies.
Oh it's not something I regret doing.
But your first "dirty" kill always makes you grow up quicker.
They should have eaten the goblin and taken it's shit though. That helmet could probably fit on the fatty or something.
Can we all agree, assman or not, that her ass is a blessing sent from God?
>I'll give you 30% of your silver coins accepted value
>Oh, okay. That sounds reasonable
Do they also have a negative barter level too?
Come on guys let's be reasonable here
If you're not human you deserve a long excruciating death.
Is she a lesbo?
fuck off faggot
black mage needs to lower her spellcasting interruption chance by going full bikini armor, which brings great shame and embarrassment because she's a fat girl. A FAT GIRL.
If anything, in volume 7 the misunderstanding about Kuzaku and Mary going out already solved and Haruhiro is relieved that he still has chance with Mary.
No matter what happens, even if I drop this show, I am going to watch the OVA(s?)
Just imagining a BD exclusive onsen episode by the god of thighs is enough to keep me from killing myself until I've experienced it.
So what exactly is this show about?
Will we get 12 episodes of melodrama with teens rationalizing the killing of other species?
Or will they get bullshit superpower skills and set out on an adventure to right some great evil just so we get the "lol S2 never" ending?
It's 20 silver to buy the Crimson moon contract.
And you only get free barracks + a few privileges like extra missions and info being available.
They should have trained together for a day to learn how to coordinate properly.
Getting a senior to give them advice for a few beers would have been good as well.
What i would have done on day 1 is gather everyone to get info.
Buy food from merhcant and get info on where CM members gather to relax. -> Go to that tavern and find appoachable dude and buy him a beer to get more info and maybe some advice. ->Split the group by making allmost all the guys go fighter or hunter while the girls either go cleric or rouge. Ensure that Ranata really does go fighter. -> Split the group into pairs of two and let every pair go with a senior group to learn. ->Gather everyone later after a week to work together again.
What was the priest doing right after Ranta finished brutally murdering the goblin? Some sort of spell.
holy shit what the fuck was that in the beginning
>overdramatic as fuck
>metal in BGM
>all of them ganging up one small goblin
>you will never be transported to the world of Grimgar
I can't deal with this feel.
Ragnarok Online would be a nice world to be transported to.
As long I'm not getting NTR'd by fat orcs, of course.
But it's so beautiful and full of adventure.
You know you are severely overestimating your own psychopathic tendencies.
Remember that you don't get to keep your memories.
You'd be the same lazy timid fat fuck that you are now.
Unless you have a severe aggressive streak like some police officers, soldiers or security guards.
Then you'd feel right at home like that Renji guy and be Chad Thundercock.
This would be the best.
But i like the LOLRandumb world of Gifting more.
So far, the world of Grimgar comes across to me as mostly like Britannia in the Ultima series; where everything is relatively low tier fantasy unless you're THE CHOSEN ONE and where the most dangerous place you could possibly be at any time is on the road. But if you want to be a level 1 wage slave all your life, you'll just live and die in a city doing much of nothing without much else in the world mattering.
Not sure if it was mentioned in anime but I read it in early chapters of the manga. All the dead will be underling of the Deathless King if they are not cremated/ purified by Priest.
>You'd be the same lazy timid fat fuck that you are now.
>Unless you have a severe aggressive streak like some police officers, soldiers or security guards. Then you'd feel right at home like that Renji guy and be Chad Thundercock.
Well, out of the two, I'm more like the latter. I'm sure I'd enjoy myself immensely.
That's really neat.
Well, I don't know, at this pace may be for 2017.
Seriously, I understand that if you don't have much material to adapt you need to stretch it but if you can do confortably do 12 episodes with the content you have?
And what its worse, THEY SKIP dialogues from the source material that explain thing just to add minutes of nothing.
There is a reason adventurers were not a thing IRL and its not just the lack of monsters. Random faggots are not fellowship of the ring level superheroes that can run on falling rocks. One person can take down one other, maybe two if given the element of surprise, maybe three if given better weapons than the others. But in general the other nigga is just as likely to kill you.
Why would one ever resort to violence when you can just get an engineering degree and a trophy wife or the phantasy equivalent:
A wizard apprenticeship and a succubus.
Yes, she's ice cold bitch queen at first though.
Fuck, I wouldn't know. I spent my time killing red dick worms for slot 1 boots.
Just be warned , she's literally a cuckbait.
>She was almost raped by her previous party mates.
>She likes big strong guy like Mogzo
>She and the new tank has secret relationship which only MC aware of.
The only hint she even likes MC is that she looks jelly when big titty mage onee-san confessed to him.
Yeah, it differs from novel to novel but aproximately 3 vols 1 season seems the standard.
Then its all about direction, some feel terrible rushed others feel terrible stretched.
Usually because they decide to give irrelevant parts or service entire episodes, then they rush the actual important parts.
Hes just a type of melee warlock, making demonic pacts to enhance his capabilities or summon demon companions. I imagine if he lives long enough, he'll try to figure out how to build his own succubi harem.
Except she refuse the new tank after which point both Mary and Haruhiro are huge pussies that are incapable of spitting it out for like 4 volumes if not longer. It's fucking cringeworthy.
Stop with your Cuckbait shitposting.
She straight up rejects the new tank when he confesses to her after saving her from rapists.
She only said she likes Mogozo to get Ranata of her back.
MC misunderstands everything and is relieved when it's revealed in volume 7 that he was wrong.
The reason I said Paladin was because Skullheim is refered to a god and not a patron demon with a pact. Plus high level paladins are able to summon servants of their god in some editions.
>She was almost raped by her previous party mates.
Mary never got raped by her party back when they were both alive and when they became undead afterwards.
Nothing worst than a NTRfag that makes fake spoilers.
You are probably the Rantafag who posts fake fanfiction as well.
>The musical montage.
Why. They shoulda cut that and some other stuff from the first episode and combined the two.
Are they even gonna be able to leave the village by the end of the season.
I actually really enjoyed it. It was really pleasant watching them handle their thoughts and doing business in the city. Very pretty scenery and music. It made me like the anime even more.
She was almost raped by a party member of a group she used to adventure with.
She got wasted and the guy wanted to use the chance.
New tank saves her.
He thinks he has a chance because of saving her and confesses to her.
Haruhiro saw the two together right before the dude got rejected and misunderstood it as the two being a pair.
>Are they even gonna be able to leave the village by the end of the season.
Your expectations for this anime might be off, anon. So far, it doesn't seem to be about leaving the village and becoming the top fighter or whatever. It's mainly about suffering.
Why do you keep misspelling his name? A couple of times was fine, but now it's starting to trigger me.
Talk between them to form a balanced party
>Healer goes into front line to hit things and heal people with almost full HP
>Only ranged dps class decides to go melee dps
>Only tanky class decide to spec two handed damage
>Another melee dps because reasons
>Mage with no damage and fails skillshots
>Waste money from first reward on aesthetics
May be this is a fantasy world and not a game, but this is the most accurate depiction of MMORPG anime will ever see.
It was great seeing the NPCs going about their work in town and such. It added so much in terms of atmosphere and feeling and immersion. I think those things are more important than technical details, and I'm more than fine with it not being rushed.
That's because when people play DnD it's usually because they want to have fun, not optimize character sheets. It's more fun to make a cool gimmicky (but slightly underpowered) character than an efficient, powerful one.
I'm pretty sure its just the same 10-20 /a/nons in these threads because the typical teen anime poster wouldn't know jack shit about D&D and is only familiar with WoW and SAO.
/a/ likes dnd more than /tg/ does nowadays
Because it's different, It's a about a bunch of weaklings struggling to kill the easiest mob and then you have the nice BGM with the comfy setting.
It's great but it feels like A1 just waste moments of the episode like the long music slideshow and then the boobs talk when they could change that into something useful.
I'm just glad that certain other series have attracted the rampant shitposting leaving this one spared. But that's not worth discussing here.
Anyone else a fan of how contrasting the relatively visceral combat and watercolour backgrounds are?
/tg/ doesn't actually play dnd either. Do you know how hard it is to get a game going when all players you know are 30 have full time jobs and kids?
>waste moments of the episode like the long music slideshow
You must be fucking dumb if you think this was wasted/not useful.
I haven't read the LN so I couldn't say
Like 10 minutes into the first episode and they said game.
Are they stuck in a game? Because I hate to say it but that'll be an instant turn off for me.
Last I played was 3.5, then I quit after realizing home brewed systems are where it's at. Thanks for the epiphany, /tg/.
I'm really digging the shirts and clothing. I'd buy this style of shirt if I knew what is called.
I forgot if it was in the anime, but the faggot at the adventurer's bureau thing said that they are free to refuse the offer, but finding a job alternative would be fuck hard.
I think he mentioned the only alternative for them is to be a slave or something like that.
Ranta's directionless stare and the Manato with the girls scene seemed straightforward enough. Are there really people who couldn't figure out a little visual storytelling interlude? It's exactly the kind of thing that should happen more often.
We don't know if its a game or not but regardless of it I don't understand why to bother with parallel world traveling or "stuck inside a game" plots if you are gonna do a pure high tantasy story.
I mean, I would understand if the game/original world had something to do with the story but if you are gonna totally ignore that and go just for the fantasy part...why bother with including such gimmicks? Just write the fantasy story you were going to write anyway and everybody happy
What kind of a shithole it would be where they would employ people without birth certificate /a/non. That's just retarded
What about those guild they joined? Weren't there some crafting ones?
They also got a thief. Let him go and steal on streets. Should be less traumatizing than killing goblins.
horriblesubs/CR translation of this ep is sooooooo bad, it's fuckin embarrassing. Particularly the timing.
>Struggle against trash mobs everyday
>Do nothing but rest whenever they are not hunting instead of training to actually get somewhere
I'm honestly amazed they managed to survive for a week
When do they train when they usually hunt from morning to evening? If they train early then they'll be too weary to hunt, train late and they're already exhausted and don't get enough rest for the next day. They can't go back to the guilds to train either since a week of training costs 7 or 8 silver and they don't have that kind of money yet.
For now, their hunts pretty much are their training, since they get actual combat experience, use a lot of stamina to hunt and polish their meagre skills against actual living opponents.
Is this gonna turn into a harem/very romantic-based show that's just a little darker then other "RPG" anime?
I'd rather the romance take a back seat and we get some fucked up shit and a good plot. Or at least the MC picks one girl and they date for a whole season or two, then it's not so bad.
Can't really deal with all the indecision between which girl likes which guy and which girl the MC likes the most.
What you would have done is crawl up in a ball and cry for four days before being killed by a goblin. Your NEET ass would probably have caused a TPK as well.
>mfw we'll never get an anime about a NEET being transported to a magical world then living as a peasant because he has no applicable skills what so ever
>does fight to save the kingdom but does so as a militia levy
>marries an ugly woman, has seven kids, two of which die
>passes away at 56 with a bad back and bum knee
The fear from every rpg anime having a harem setup or a very large cast full of romantic interests.
But, good to hear it takes a back seat, it's pretty decent so far.
>especially when I want to see some murder hobos mudering shit.
>This insert song for minutes
>Peeping scenes removed
Goddamn this is more boring than Hyouka
there are more than just one fantasy world, and they have traveled between them. In one of these fantasy worlds there's one where a human lives, and he kinda was figuring out stuff but got married and decided to stay there. There's hints such as not only people being transported but also items from our world so to speak.
Not a LNfag, but there's a dude that does summaries and has a blog. I think someone posted the link here already.
I'm an aggressive big guy who spends most of his time lifting, doing boring construction work and training fencing in my free time.
So no i'd probably feel right at home with the exception of cringing the first time i kill a gob.
Nope. Haru's mooning over Mary getting together with Paladinbro that joins later after he saves her from getting raped. Tits Onee-san tries to go for him after teasing him a lot.
Surprisingly, being 30 and in a stable relationship is the best time for gaming.
>getting two couples to show up to game night is much easier than getting 4 single people to show up
>everyone's mature and fun
Last night was some good game. Bodyswap shenanigans, my bro got to try to roleplay the villain pretending to be his character. It was hilarious.
Later in the session, the rogue wound up slitting the throat of a prisoner. It was tactically necessary, but she was kind of shaken up about it. She thinks of herself as a good person, she doesn't usually hurt people who aren't trying to kill her. Excellent roleplay.
>liking flat shit when mage has better ass and tits
I've even tried sacrificing virgins on the witching hour.
I've tried climbing two mountains.
I've tried stroking my jaw while whispering 'grow beard, grow beard, grow beard, grow beard' before going to bed for four months
I've tried shaving my hairless jaw in case it takes a hint and decides to actually grow some hair for me to shave
In most circumstances it's absolutely retarded to not learn magic if you're in a world where it's an option. However, after seeing magic missile either miss or give a goblin a gentle push, I would rather be a dork knight.
Probably Grimgal. Chinese xianxia settings have so many assholes that you are most likely going to get blown up by a random Cultivator before you get anywhere near becoming strong yourself.
There are a lot of zombies in some parts of the setting. We just don't see them since most of the deaths near the town are taken care of right away. Later in the anime will be an episode where the main cast faces off against an some skellies.
Using magic directly saps your stamina and mental strength, so a warrior trying to use magic will run out of steam quick and then die.
Also, mage girl's spells are mostly debuffs, so her very first spells are rather shit.
There's quite a few classes. It's hard to list them because some of them merge. Ex Mimori (big tits witch) was a warrior that switched to mage. So she can coat her sword in flame magic.
Got me there I guess. The counter for that idea would be to maybe make it so that the sheathe opens length wise so you could use your shoulder as a pivot point to support the weight as you draw.
But that's fucking retarded and the dude is poor as fuck anyway so where's he going to get it.
This. And they still wonder why they can't win against more than a little gob. They sucks
I think you are wrong. Then why they lost their memory? I think they playing VR game using India super power technology. Don't forget india successful launch satellite to MARS.
>Then why they lost their memory?
Side effect of summoning magic? Seems like the perfect asshole move so that they will gradually forget about their previous world and giving up for looking the way to back home.
Dumb comment aside... the speculation is that, since Grimgar has lost a war and a big part of it's human population, they are simply taking humans from "our" world into theirs simply as soldiers, memory wipe is so that they don't have means to go back or be anything but mere cannon fodder.
Nothing has been elaborated in a significant way, and no hint has been given to support that "it's a game", it's so far just other worlds. The focus of the novels deals more with the characters trying to get by, not lagging behind other parties, not dying or trying not to die at least, Haru learning how to be a leader and dealing with stuff. Romance, going back to the original world, etc. are very (very) slow developing subplots.
REMOVE MONSTER remove monster

>shitty world from shitty LN written by ghostwriters
Doing the lord's work.
What kind of higher end monsters will the group end up facing?
Latest volume but the party did not fight that dragon together.
Haru was separated from everyone and was traveling with two other adventures, instead.
He unfortunately encountered the dragon.
The dragon is like volumes later.
The first episode really is a grand example of how its like being a novice player in an mmo.
and they told me kids don't get desensitized by violent T.V.
from what I've been reading about the LN, fighting seems more realistic than other LNs, mangas, an whatnot. not entirely focusing on OP classes or magic, so if it comes the time to deal with a dragon i'd say it's gonna be a party or group fight, people will die if dragons are around
The one thing I liked about the Hobbit movies was Smaug wreaking havoc and being unstoppable. Only a giant arrow could take him down.
Humans could probably kill dragons with ballistas realistically. Dunno how the LN handles it.
Well sign me the fuck up
Manato likes his tits big.
What a lad, probably get some advice at the bar he visited last night.
Dragons don't have specified attributes, and vary from work to work. A kinda realistic dragon, which would basically be a flying, fire spitting dinosaur, could easily be killed if it's prevented from flying. I know that a dragon could be far more dangerous than a dinosaur but if our cavemen ancestors could figure out how to hunt mammoths, I think medieval people can figure out how to kill a dragon.
It has all the makings of a MMOnime, except it's not specified to be a MMO.
Mostly it breaking the fourth wal about RPG mechanics, and not in the funny self-aware Order of the Stick kind of a way. If they don't serve the plot, or make a commentary about the genre, then those things should be meaningless, except for making it clear they are indeed within a game of some kind.
Except it's for kids these days I guess, who are mouth-breathing retards. DUDE VIDEO GAMES LMAO
>the funny self-aware Order of the Stick kind of a way.
How are both of those immersion breaking in a fantasy world? You'd need adventurers in a fantasy world to take care of strong monsters that villagers couldn't and in a world with skills you'd need places to train in.
Because bitch work just to make ends meet when you know for a fact you want to be wrecking shop for big prizes is always a drag. Pulling off badass black ops that get you notice by powerful people is always more desirable than being the mooks who got hired to guard the turnip wagon on the army's supply train for what amounts to chump change because you haven't paid the cost to be the Boss yet.
Hey, remember this old MMO anime?
I love this show because they aren't Record of Lodoss War-tier characters. I'm just explaining how someone else could watch this and consider it boring if what they're accustomed to are Kirino-class Mary Sue Onii-Sama characters trashing everything around them from day 1.
I wonder what sort of expectations people have for this. The setup is not interesting in the slightest. Transported to another world is literally the single most cliche thoughtless basis for a story ever of all time. It would be like watching a show because the synopsis describes the setting as a Japanese high school. The only appeal to be found is entirely in the execution.
I won't blame those who find it boring but if they feel like they were misled then they must be new to anime.
>adventurer existing as an occupation at all
They're a reserve army that exists on the borders of human civilization to fight off monster invasions. They aren't really adventurers, but soldiers or mercenaries.
>thief guild existing as an official institution at all
All guilds exist for the purpose of training the soldiers and the thief guild is no exception, since the thiefs in the setting mostly act as scouts and secondary melee combatants.
But they totally do though, because it's the name of a skill.
Which in this particular case happens to completely break the thin border made of suspension of disbelief that lies between actual high fantasy and DUDE VIDEO GAMES LMAO
Just fucking read the novel dude.
>The orc swung its sword down at Madam Baaba. She blocked it with her walking stick, grunting as the force brought her almost to her knees, her face turning bright red with the effort of staying afoot. It was a good thing the walking stick was sturdy, but though she had stopped the orc’s attack, it was a close call. This was no time to be impressed, though; things were about as desperate as it got.
>Haruhiro drew his dagger and set his sights on the orc’s back. “[BACKSTAB]!”
It's so fucking stupid. You can forget about any impression of realism you previously had.
this is my main draw with this show as well, not just that 8 mins of this episode were designated to still shots but the general pace is fucking slow as shit
they already showed the art pretty heavily last episode and in the beginning I just hope that the reused assets mean that the budget went into something nice elsewhere
because it definitely isnt in the soundtrack
If there were orcs in my world, I would expect them to turn around when someone behind their back yells "BACKSTAB", and I would expect no one to yell "BACKSTAB" behind their back, as that might soil their chances to actually carry out a fucking backstab.
But it works there anyway, because it's, you know, a skill, in a video game. Or a PnP game, doesn't matter, point stands.
it's never said "he yelled, [BACKSTAB]!" it's slightly implied but not confirmed
Yelling a word isn't a chant. I also can't imagine that something as simple as stabbing something in the back would require any sort of intense concentration to carry out.
>do you expect them to make new assets for the same town
I expect new content if they heavily reuse still shots with little to no motion in them or reused stills
otherwise theres no payoff, they literally just made a boring episode for no reason while heavy handing the death flags which couldve been accomplished in other ways
Man, her character would be so great if aside from her shyness and social awkwardness, she was actually REALLY REALLY GOOD at killing monsters. Useless outside of battle, but a bad-ass whenever they're fighting.
> not spending your free time honing your close combat skills
> not learning how to use multiple weapons and improvised weapons
> not learning how to kill effectively
It's like you don't even want to survive a random violent encounter.
