Episode 2 aired.
The interactions between the two girls are pretty cute.
Why are they being mean to the goblin? He just chillin.
I like how the tried to make the goblin's struggle realistic but holy fucking shit everything else that transpired before and during that fight had me banging my head on the wall. So infuriating that I didn't even feel a god damn thing for these idiots when the montage happened.
Every word that comes out of his mouth is retarded and immersion breaking.
Me too, outside of the last bit with the baths this episode was really great. The struggle felt by the characters is palpable.
I have to agree every time he talks it feels like the whole tone of the show changes to something different. What pisses me off more is he has great skills but I can already tell he is gonna be a dumb shit and not utilize them right. Did he really think screaming and swinging his weapon was a good idea for a sneak attack?
I'm not here to hate on this show, and I'm not trying to be some faggot edgelord.
For the life of me though, I can't understand the reactions of the group to their first kill. I get nervousness or reservation, I get adrenaline or uncertainty, but not to the degree that it happened here. This one kill shouldn't hold the magnitude that it seems to in this show, and that's what I just don't understand.
I can praise a ton of things about this show, but the characters go so far on the "realistic reactions" spectrum that it just becomes unbelievable.
>hunter and mage can't aim for shit
Why won't just practice then? It's not like they are doing something productive all day long - just stay at home for a few days and keep shooting at walls or fucking whatever with your arrows / magic missiles.
And the tank should probably consider buying a shield, while we're at it. Swinging a dragon slayer - sized 2h sword doesn't make you a tank.
Goblin rapes and kill. They even can kill kids and pregnant women without mercy. You know, ISIS guys watch anime, speak about fun things too. They even have their own magazine and radio
I like how they are giving a grim twist to the trapped in an alternate/mmo world. But holy shit are these characters cliché and boring.
Also this second episode was too slow paced for my taste, especially after killing the goblin.
I thought this was continuation of the first episode of the goblin fight. I kept thinking his friends were going to come in and wreck their shit. After realizing no help was coming I felt kind of bad even though this nigga wouldn't hesitate to kill you. I do think they should have a done a much better way at killing him without that much suffering. One good arrow to the head could have done it if the hunter was competent.
I want to hug Yume from behind and rub my hard dick into her soft butt cheeks before giving into temptation and drenching her tight insides with my semen.
I think killing something is a big deal. That comment made by the faggot where he strikes bone attests to that; you gotta remember that (as dumb as it is) these characters are from the "real world."
This guy kills everything in sight without batting an eye through multiple incarnations.
He pretty much genocided entire races in cold blood.
Goddamn, the Dark Knight aka the mandatory comic relief friend of the MC character is annoying. Especially when he charged at the goblin, I get it he's supposed to be the funny guy, but not a fucking retard. I wish any of them would die, just so the others could get a reality check.
>Alright chums, I'm back. Let's do this!
It's funny you mention that because in the way it plays out in the LN they fuck it up and he's basically left barely alive and slowly dying and Manato tells them to just end his suffering and to not play with lives (and Ranta kills him for the vice).
Also, in the novels, Ranta never cried, he actually never gave a fuck (hell, he was the one kinda torturing the thing before it died), so I'm glad they included that.
Everything is so fucking good but the shit characters are bogging this show down too much. Not a single piece of dialogue is engaging, their personalities are as shallow as a puddle, and god forbid them being fleshed out because of the amnesia.
How the fuck am I supposed to feel sympathy for these scrubs? The novelty of 'realism', OST, and art isn't going to carry this show into above average territory at this rate.
So is the Tank guy just nonexistent? They barely seem to acknowledge him. It doesn't help he doesn't say shit at all.
>the 2 retards from the other day are back to play with the frog hat
Did this really need to be said?
Posting best girl. I want to marry her. Then impregnate her.
It doesn't, but it shows that they see it as something that's alive as well, and in turn you see that as well instead of thinking it's just a random mob like in every anime ever.
these show needs some manliness. they need to go ultraviolence on these goblins with maximum edge
Protip fat guy: Get a huge shield instead of that chunk of metal
In fact, he could probably just run the goblin over/shield bash it unconciousness. I am actually surprised that joining a guild directly gave him a full metal equipment + 2H sword.
I saw it as fear they were each nearly killed by the goblin, hence the hands shaking. Maybe it just sank in for those guys that this is what their life is going to consist of, risking their necks to brutally stab monsters to death. As cool as the goblins are, I don't think they cried over his death.
Is anyone keeping up with their balance of money? It doesn't seem like they are making much yet seem to be spending more then they have. How the fuck does that even work? Priest seems to be already drinking away their earnings so I don't know how long they would last.
They all get starting gear, it just sucks.
I don't think Mogzo had an helmet in the novels though (and his stuff might have been chainmail, actually).
In the novel Mogzo actually gets robbed because he joins with some other party first.
I've been trying to formulate my feelings on this show, and I think this nails it.
There's this weird emotionless default which makes everything feel more boring than it should be.
...If the priest sleeps with sweetest girl, there will be blood.
Even if he does I still believe in my heart that it just sends them back to their own reality. At least that is what I hope.
The novel goes in depth into that stuff, they do work it out somehow.
I do agree that it feels weird in the anime because it's hard for the viewer to have an idea of how much money they actually need to eat, sleep, etc.
>Can't they just get a normal job?
Is it bad that I would still fuck Yume's dead body?
They have no family or anything in the world.
Taking this job was the only way for them to get some money.
I think they can quit eventually but the other jobs don't play that well and they are hard to find.
"OI, DON'T STOP NOW YE GROT, YA GOT ME ALL HOT AN BOTHERED!"
>archer can't hit shit
>mage can't hit shit
>thief trips over himself
>dark knight literally swings at nothing
>warrior pokes with a great sword
>healer uses physical attacks
>they only get the kill because the thief aggro'd and tanked
Calling them scrubs is an insult to actual scrubs.
I want to fucking feel something for these ragtag bunch of incompetent idiots. They don't have any motivations aside from surviving because fuck memories, their interactions have no sort of depth to them as a result of that, and they revolve around their respective cutout personalities so much that nothing really makes me want to watch how their story unfolds. All of this stacks up and causes that entire goblin drama and montage at the end to feel real hammy.
Why should I root for them? Why should I pity them? Why should I care for these characters at all?
I have no reason to because they don't even feel like people in the first place. Just a shallow cast of characters whose roles don't extend past the near-braindead incompetence they have.
Fuck you. I actually want this show to be good. It has AotS potential but the characters aren't ust cutting it.
At least I have chicken.
This, their lives literally depend on them successfully hunting some monsters and they don't even train? But hey, they have time to go shopping and buy some cute hair clips. I want to like this, but holy shit the forced retardation is getting annoying.
No more Bog please.
>their interactions have no sort of depth to them as a result of that
I want to know why someone thought it was a good idea to put all the actual team interaction in an unvoiced montage.
Not him, but the clichés are pretty obvious.
You've got the boisterous comic relief knight, the shy magician moe, the big tank guy with a soft heart, the genki archer girl, the tall intellectual /glassesadjust priest, and finally, the MC that is only relatable because he is slightly less retarded than everyone else.
I love it, and I'm hyped for the inevitable suffering, but the characters are pretty typecast so far.
I've been saying this since the first episode. Amnesia is a shit excuse for lazy writing. I doubt the mystery is going to be interesting anyway so just make it standard fantasy.
Yea, the giant tank has powerful equip but I think he would be serving the group better if he just went off doing some woodwork or something to earn money.
I mean, he seems pretty good at woodwork.
>The fuck is this?
>feeling sorry for goblins
They would have raped the shit out of the two girls forcing them to probably give birth to multiple children after shitting out the guys that they roasted if they could.
This feels like a let down
everyones different classes yet no real distinctions even after training at their guilds.
The thief is the worst thief imaginable, Favaro should be fucking hung for that bullshit. Archer that can't aim and mage that only knows 1 spell.
What a shitty fucking MMO right off the bat. I thought it would be something like Dragons Nest but even Dragons Nest has more variety
But honestly why isn't the thief fucking back stabbing?
Why do they have qualms about killing fucking Goblins?
Why didn't they just carry it's corpse to town and sell it or at the very least take it's fucking knife?
Why the fuck is favaro still in the group biggest fucking shitter yet?
Why is Dark Knight a fucking entry level class?
Why is the pacing so fucking slow?
It's like I'm watching some reverse Xration doujin.
Healers don't do shit until shit hits the fan. Since he still low level he probably has no other useful skills.Coming from experience I would go on auto run mode just due to fact sometimes the tank would self heal there wasn't much need till the heavy damage occurred.
Yeah. This is the only reason I'm watching this.
Have you ever stepped on your dog by accident? How did that make you feel? Now imagine doing it on purpose, imagine killing something self aware that will cry, yell and suffer when you kill it.
Goblins seems pretty durable too, so just one stab won't do it, to me how they reacted was perfectly in character, that was their first kill, unrealistic would be If they reacted the same to every kill after this one since they should get used to it sooner or later.
I agree with you.
Show seems to want to move forward and establish the world before the characters and it just ends up coming off as saying, "Hey look at us we're deep and involved aren't we! Really unique eh?! " When in the end it doesn't realize that it's completely uninteresting and completely ruined the crucial point of any anime which is the opening few episodes
In terms of art style and classes this is close to Ragnarok Online.
>Final Fantasy 14 is probably the best one for gameplay
FF14 is as generic as it gets. If you want gameplay go for something like UO or Mabinogi.
Being forced into a role with no flexibility is fucking archaic design that is terrible in the modern age
Before writing interesting character conflicts you need to have interesting characters in the first place to make it work. That's the funny thing about this and that's why the goblin was actually more engaging than the actual MCs of the show.
Isn't this supposed to be a border town on the verge of imminent invasion? How come everything seems so peaceful? What about crime, I find it hard to believe that neither of the girls haven't been sexually abused or raped. They seem like easy prey.
Maybe like a barely pubescent middle school boy.
Like they ain't really too much of a threat to a grown man, but they're not quite a small child and you still shouldn't underestimate one that's desperate.
>coffee-coloured mixture spilling out of her ass.
You. I know you
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
He was the first one to get the goblin off of MC when it attacked him and was literally the only one who had the conviction to actually kill it. Even the MC just stabbed the gob out of pure self defense and after that was traumatized as fuck. Ranta might be delusional chuuni but he is still the second best at doing his job.
Best being the priest who should have gone attack class.
>play an MMO
Why don't you just play a regular JRPG?
Are the last 5 mins of every episode just always going to be these jarring LN moments. This episode it was the whole 'Let's go peek at the girls in the bath' and last episode it was a 5 mins conversation about mage girl's boobs. They feel like moments written in just because that's what has to happen in a LN.
Did they give this dude a fucking haltertop?
Most of them aren't straight up bad, just uninteresting. But there are certain forced scenes that do more harm than good i.e. when the Dark Knight charges like a retard, the big titted wizard (why is she even a wizard?) being a blatant moeblob shopping, etc.
There are series in similar setting that handle these themes with more maturity, Overlord and Berserk maybe come to mind. SAO was never meant to be a realistic and serious story so it's irrelevant.
Watch any other fantasy anime adn they murder anything in cold blood without thinking about the enemy. You don't think about it either, so saying that makes you think about it.
You'll more closely get something like grimgal by playing a single player Jrpg than an MMO.
Stuff like Etrian Odyssey should be your best bet for unforgiving adventuring with cute girls in a setting with high comfy potential.
Aside from becoming more competent, they're not getting any better than this.
It's still fairly shallow and unless you learn to like them, you pretty much have to deal with it.
If you had read the novels, you would get my point. There are several cases where the themes of slavery, rape, thievery, etc are explored. Even if they don't happen to the main cast, their purpose is to show how the world would actually be in a fantasy/medieval setting similar to what Grimgar is.
I don't understand your point. Are you saying that because Grimgar hasn't gone out of its way to show random girls getting raped and people getting murdered that it's less mature than Overlord?
>mfw yuri is killed
And Etrian Odyssey isn't?
Last I checked it's heavily inspired by Wizardry but has cute girls to trick people into thinking it will be fun until you get fucked by F.O.Es
>this kills the dyke
And then I tell her, just mumbling softly at first, but enough to let her hear it
She would turn back by then, and I would start to mimicking
Mogzo falling at his final momentand crying about why she let me die
I'm surprised, they changed a lot of scenes to make him more sympathetic this early.
I think it's just self-esteem. Whatever spell she knows isn't meant to cause real damage. As other anons pointed out, it does seem bothersome that the archer and mage don't practice at their home/base or whatever. I'm just afraid that once they switch over to the others, it'll be that much more blatant how incompetent they are.
95% of anime girls look insanely attractive to us 3D slobs.
In the actual 2D dimension I'm sure they all have imperfections and whatnot that other 2D people see. So when you say stuff like "That girl is a 10/10 babe why is everyone calling her average?" you're not seeing all the shit that's wrong with her because no one wants to see that.
Tittymage is probably flabby and has cottage cheese thighs that we can't see.
most of the MMO LN are influince by RO.... Kirito have the shit design of Assassin of Ro and the first bad guy its a Crusader.
Overlord in other hand its WoW as fuck... even the No-human intimidate come from wow.
It's called melancholy.
She's happy for her but at the same time she's sad because they won't be as close anymore, plus
>tfw no bf
You can at least empathize with that right, faggot?
If we go by that logic, it also pairs MC with dark knight.
>few minutes into episode
>whole lines getting untranslated and misplaced.
Holly shit funi, get your shit together and fire those incompetent fucks already.
Oh. Right. Then funi would cease to exist.
Yume is asking for something to drink. What do you give her?
>You know that there aren't actual 2d people right anon?
>tfw you'll never live in a world like "who framed Roger Rabbit" except instead of western cartoons it's anime
She's got the right idea.
So, after all this goblin drama, this will probably end up being one of those "monsters are people" twists.
Then I'll give her all my thick, white baby-making soup.
This show explains why SOA was so edgy, the main characters in SOA feels no consequences, everything was just a stepping stone for them to have life as they want it masked as character growth.
Just a little more mental trauma and she'd a good yandere
Aren't there any other monsters out there that need killing? Like bunch of rats in sewers, some wolf or giant toad? Or gathering herbs, escort and protection missions.
Why kill something intelligent that resembles human for no reason? And goblins should travel in packs anyway.
Why are your screens so bright?
I think the biggest factor is because of the no 'dead things turn into bubbles/dust and crap out loot/gold' like most mmo tier animus do
Shit's there and dead while you have to loot the corpse and probably dispose of it or just leave it for the crows.
EO is kind of special. they all lure you into generic easymode rpgs for the first few floors till you find a random F.O.E and it rapes your entire party. Not even counting the stories for the games which are all very dark and twisted once you get to the huge plot twist. EO1 is still one of my favorite games story wise. I actually didn't see the twist coming.
>Only Ranged dps in the partyspecs melee dps
>No damage mage
>Tank specs dps
>Priest goes into first line to heal before is necesary
>Waste first reward in aesthetics
May be this is not about games, may be is a fantasy world, but I swear this is the most accurate MMORPG anime I've ever seen
>Waste first reward in aesthetics
This made me really angry. Scrubs should be hoarding their money like madmen.
I don't know. It tries to be more mature but it somehow fails for me. Characters feel kinda bland.
Does it really end with every girl wanting MC cock? I can't see it somehow.
Well, thanks for giving me the heads up.
Why is Rogue so best?
>first time playing EO
>obligatory self insert male and harem combo
>killing rabbits, butterflies and armadillos like nobodies business
EO luls you into a false sense of security due to the cutesy artstyle but then throws that shit for a 180 when you reach the mid-endgame when you go up against lovecraftian demons and go through these really fucking grimdark backstories and shit.
>dat EO4 6th hidden stratum
>the entire dungeon is a dark abandoned ancient library that is covered in blood everywhere
>as you explore you find old reports and documents from the researchers about their experiments
Its a real mood setter
music helps too as you explore with the ground squishing as you walk over the pools of blood
In the novel they did.
Haru was despondent over the fact that he couldn't even buy a backup pair of underwear with what they were making at that point, and had to keep wearing what he arrived with. That scene was entirely there as fanservice and to beat the audience over their collective heads with Mage x Priest.
Nah, who am I kidding? That scene was there entirely to waste half a goddamn episode and slow the pace as much as humanly possible so they could A: draw out the already overly-long scrub phase, and B: not animate anymore fighting this ep.
What the hell was that we've killed a goblin PTSD song that took like half of the episode?
>Manato having heart to heart conversations with MC to create emotional attachment
>most useful and skillful in an group of otherwise absolutely useless fucking retards
>acts most mature
>have girls lusting after his dick already
He's going to fucking die isn't he?
Healing is a lot harder than dps.
Ranta was supposed to go tank, but after they split from their planning session he rolled death knight.
Mogzo wasn't even in their group at first; he got dragged off by an older team and after putting him through warrior training they took his money and dumped him.
The pacing, character interactions and reactions, music, and backgrounds all seem pretty top notch so far with this show.
It probably won't last.
MCs new crush who he gives up on because of a misunderstanding with a new guy.
Said new guy got rejected by her straight away when he tried to confess.
MC spent several volumes believing that those two were a pair and was jelly for it.
They should've just ran train on the Goblin's ass, instead it's like they're going for participation medals.
"Be sure to let everyone get a hit in before you go for the kill, all right? Don't want to make anyone feel left out."
Instead of creating a goblin gangbang, they fucking prance about, never really flanking or attacking from multiple directions.
>Noone in the party even got a shield, despite having 3 melee users
>Bow user has fired 2 arrows in the series so far, never bothers to try to fire another
Don't even get me started on the second half of the episode, was literally filler/10.
Anyone else not ok with that annoying battle music?
The OP, ED, that nice insert song in the second half and specially the preview music are really good.
But I can't get over the shitty rap-rock they use in battle.
I've started a Princess only run of EOIII a couple of months back and they fucking demolish everything and still are up for more, I mean pic related was taken at the beginning
My party killed the first F.O.E that appears in the game by level 6 and they haven't stopped going further and further into berserk-tier shenanigans
Is that fucking Moguzo lying flat on the ground in front of them?
Compare her to this. Can you see now? That slut will never have a perfect everything like Yume.
This. I thought I was the only one thinking this.
