I'm pretty sure most people here have learned not to subvocalize. Someone says something, hear them say it in beautiful Nihongo, then glance to the bottom of the screen for your translation.

Not to mention it's possible to read things without looking directly at them if they're in the bottom of your vision.

But german anime dubs don't reach this quality with actors being way to old and german to get this whole moe thing going. I watch subs, because I care about the "lyrics".
If I'd watch dubs I'd get a more localized version of the "lyrics" with shitty "vocals".

I usually wait for good sub releases (not that those exist anymore), because I care a lot about language and every dub I've seen had terrible translations and cute girl voices is just not a thing outside of japan.
