Is he the best sports anime protagonist there ever was?
>doesn't cry after every loss
>doesn't wallow in self pity
>not a beta nerd
>not a gary stu
>doesn't win a match with a power-up segment after getting rekt for 90% of it
>cute as hell
I still like Kuroko and Kagami more than Hinata and Kageyama.
Even if kuroko is bs kuroko/kagami were much better protags.
Pic related the realist niggas in Haikyuu though.
What other sports anime have this mix with SoL/training and actual matches where the opposite team arent just some nonames? I really enjoy Haikyuu but i rarely watch sports anime but i have seen Oofuri with i liked a lot but it got kind of a different vibe to it.
I avoided Kuroko so far because of heavy fujoshiload i guess. Is it good? And hows Eyeshield?
I haven't seen people with bags where they plastered self-printed stuff from naked haikyuu boys on around here. So i assumed Kuroko was worse.
Guess i'll check it out then, thanks.
Problem with Kuroko is the super power DBZ shit that happens in game that makes you roll your eyes at this shit.
Haikyuu is good because it is realistic. The MC isn't a god but just a kid with good jumping power and eyes, that is it. No one on the team is spectacular and they do lose enough to want you to make them win. Opposing teams have interesting enough characters to see them in action as opposed to Kuroko where the generation of miracles are the main fucking show the entire time through.
I ended up liking Kuroko a lot more than I thought I would. He was more like the silent flame, the middle ground between hetare faggot and typical hotheaded shounen protagonist. The only thing I hate is the random powerups and asspulls from him, but that's more because the mangaka fucking sucks.
Kuroko isn't as fujo as most people say.
It's watchable if you like turning your brain off and enjoying the action.
The main "antagonists" are good.
I would recommend Hajime no Ippo.
It has god tier comedy and hype as fuck fights.
The whole show goes like this:
>learn about new opponent
Simple but good.
+ it the rivalry between Ippo and Sendo is the best thing ever
>Problem with Kuroko is the super power DBZ shit that happens in game that makes you roll your eyes at this shit.
At least it's not Prince of Tennis.
>girls won the qualifier yesterday
>boys won today
>new Haikyuu episode
What a nice day.
Also Hinata is generic shonen MC 101.
Eyeshield is the fucking shit. The rules differ a bit from NFL rules and maybe high school(can't remember about hs because it's been a while since I graduated). It's also entertaining watching the mc grow from a errand boy faggot into a total football badass. They do kind of over exaggerate moves. Great all around cast.
I guess i'll still check it out. If it's too much i can always drop it. Thanks for your answers.
Also Ippo sounds good, i wonder how i not thought of it. Guess i looked for group-based sports.
Well i know HQ has a lot fujos but the show itself isnt as fujo as some may think.
People keep saying this but except for a few scenes that's not true.
It's not power ups an magic beams. It pretends to be about strategy. But it's pretty retarded because it's presented in a "If X does Y, Z won't be able to score." way and falls flat because that's not how it works.
Shit explanation but whatever.
Eyeshield is GOAT.I loved both the manga and the anime but the manga is better so go for it.
Anime has great opening and endings so if you're into that don't miss it.
Their loss in S1 was the first major one for them, especially after overcoming so many obstacles regarding other teams and their own teamwork. But they then resolve to be better than their best, etc etc. They're all sad but none of them, much less Hinata and Kageyama, allow it to hold them back
I want to see him murder someone with a volleyball.
Is this the best sports manga in existence?
Watch Makibao. It's the Ippo of horse racing, except it's finished.
>The only sports manga i follow is about sumo wrestling
>Thanks to that there is no Fujo fanbase
>Because there is no Fujo fanbase it sells worse than shit
>The only reason it survived this long is because of a dedicated small group of fans who could drop it at any moment
I don't know how to feel about this.
best pic I could find without looking through dozens of chapters
>all I have to do is teleport behind the guy blocking me and we can score
>pretending to be about strategy
I spent two seasons watching it waiting for it to get good and it never happened. Kuroko is one of the most overrated shows I've seen.
His struggle is real. He has to make the same effort as the rest of the team but without getting any recognition. He's giving his best from the backseat, and I know that one day, he'll have his hero time.
And damn he's so fucking cute.
I think he gets all the best shots during game scenes, but I'm sure I'm just biased. I would like to see him get more attention.
Talking about Haikyuu, while I won't cast my vote on any of them I must admit I'm impressed by Kageyama because of how he turned his character type on it's head. Same goes for their entire team dynamic where the older ones actually do something. But as best sports protagonist? No.
Kurokok had a crazy fujo following, and when I say crazy I mean CRAZY
