A crucial point in Berserk is that there is very little good in universe. The world they live in is shit, and has been shit since forever. Pointless wars, hunger, disease, the rich exploiting and abusing the poor, endless suffering no hope for change. Hell, the world in Berserk is SO shitty the collective human consciousness created some "evil" abstract God to blame for all the shittiness.

Following that, there are very few genuinely GOOD people in Berserk either. Can Casca or Guts be considered good? not really, they were just mercenaries, just average people trying to survive and find a little peace. Think about it. Who could be considered "good" in Berserk? I dare you to name more than 3. Aside from a few minor side characters (Luca, Flora?) or children (Schierke) who are inherently innocent and don't count, everyone is an asshole.

If there are no good people, how could Griffith be bad? His dream at least was one of peace and change for the better. Griffith is not that more evil or selfish than say, Guts. The only different is one is the antagonist and the other the protagonist. They probably are fairly close on a spectrum of morality.

When the eclipse happened, and Casca's mind body and soul were broken. I realised that Griffith had destroyed something truely beautiful. He destroyed a character and gave us no closure. Bad guys destroy things that the good guys love all the time, Griffith destroyed something the reader loved.

Here's a couple of things I've noticed that not many people point out:

The Japanese have this belief that a sword gains power from the ones it slew. The Dragonslayer has killed several Apostles, Gosts, Demons, Trolls, a Sea God, and you can also make the argument that it also gained power when he stabbed Slan.

His armor allows him to not have pain bother him, so the brand should have little effect on him, especially when he's near the Godhand.

The fact that he's a sacrifice and survived the eclipse basically means that he can now interact with beings on both plains of existence, which should include the Godhand. This also means that his fate is unpredictable, and not even Griffith nor the Godhand can tell or manipulate his fate in any cheaty way. Otherwise, they would have done so a long time ago.

Arguably, Zodd is the strongest apostle and Gutts was shown to go toe to toe with him before he was even given the Berserk armor, and even if someone argued that Grunbeld was stronger, Gutts still bested him even after holding into account that he was already fucked up before the fight.

I'd say he stands a good chance at Griffith as is. The real question would be is his crew ready for it or not.
