>Phantasy Star Online 2 Anime
>Anime about students playing PSO2
So apparently this was a thing
>anime about normal people doing normal game things
That actually sounds kind of enjoyable for me. We haven't quite gotten that yet with the MMO shows aired so far. Shame the trailer looked really boring, hopefully the show's a bit better.
>game has a neat character creator
>anime MC looks generic as fuck
>Overlord (to a very limited extent from what I can tell as an anime-only fag)
Think that's about it for shows explicitly related to MMOs, though I might be forgetting something. If you expand the question to fantasy settings with extremely heavy JRPG influences, there's quite a few more.
That premise sounds really shitty for Phantasy Star. Kids playing games is a fun idea for an anime but for this series particularly, it definitely should of followed the story of the original game. Maybe Ash or some OC hunter trying to find Red Ring Rico. Will do the 3 ep rule anyway but my anus is fully prepared for disappointment.
The card game would've been better for an anime desu
>arkzfags vs hunterfags never
Apparently Episode 4 (of the game) is going to tie in with the show somehow. Upcoming NPCs.
I don't even know how he's in any danger. Just follow the roving blob of violence and skullfuckery that's people trying to level their off classes to VHAQ eligibility.
Wait the ED is the dance festival song? Does this mean we're getting a new dance?
>they think they are playing a game until the arks fleet arrives at earth and players find out that they were remotely controlling surrogate bodies the whole time
>we WARFRAME now
>the phantoms are attacking and its not a game
> the anime is a prequel to episode 4
I read that as the story of pso as a whole, not the first game specifically.
The game went with a reverse tie in for the upcoming episode 4: it takes place a year after in tokyo, where there are now phantom (enemy species name, not actual phantoms as you'd think) enemies, which include cars, helicopters, tanks, people, t-rexes, and a train dragon.
>it definitely should of followed the story of the original game
Alicer Landeel (or whatever they spell her name as) wouldn't work as anime protagonist these days, since she is neither Japanese, nor a student.
>PSO2 anime confirmed for getting a western release
Why? What's the point? The game isn't out over here so why bother localizing the anime?
Also, what the shit is going on in PSO2? I played it a few months ago and its a pretty decent game, but stopped playing because I had no friend to play it with. I enjoyed the aesthetics and setting of everything in it though, but then I just watched this trailer for the next story arc:
Watching it makes me feel like I just had a fever dream.
wonder if Maidoll is happy with the anime, the drawings of her characters adventures hit too close to home some times.
>Why would we make an anime about fighting eldritch abominations when we could make it about a normal highschool student in a town where nothing interesting ever happens?
STFU ONLY MANLY MEN MAKE MALE CHARACTERS
TYPICAL "MURICAN MMOS ARE COMPOSED OF MORE MALE CHARACTERS THAN FEMALES
WE NEED TO SET THINGS RIGHT IN THIS GAME
MAKE A MALE NEWMAN TODAY
Will this semen demon show up or is HanaKana too busy this season?
>can't find kanahana in any news related to the anime
This is not okay.
>PVs only had EP 1/2/3 scenes so far
>EP4 characters pop up in the OP
>Takes place in 2027 where EP4 takes place in 2028
>Promo poster now shows ARKS members rather than the students
>MAO's rappy fades from her shoulder in EP2's preview
yeah no shit
Touch health, touch fun.
Come back to /pso2g/ and never come back to these threads again.
I'm not going to get my hopes up about an appearance for her but god damn, I'd love it.
Just play on the JP server with the fan translation. If you want to see how an NA version would be: I recommend you do your research about the PSO2 SEA version.
If you're playing PSO2: You either go CAST / Caseal (without costumes) or uninstall.
Male casts have to have their brains implanted from somewhere.
Newman males usually offer the best quality brains (faster reflexes, higher I.Q.) and are usually the top choices once they've survived combat in a fashion so manly that their former flesh bodies are obliterated.
This anime is gonna be so shit.
I'm only here for MAO
>wanting localization when there is fantastic fucking English patch
Remember PSU and the shitty lag in content updates, motherfucker? You want that again?
I stopped playing PSO2 awhile back because you still had to have a "license" to use/have the items drop, for any gear above 9*, which you could only get using cash shop bought currency, and only lasted a month.
Is that still a thing? I'd love to fight the newest incarnation of Falz and who can forget TACO tuesdays.
I must say that I disagree with your negative sentiment regarding playing fleshies.
Everyone knows that in every fictional universe, the creation of machines, androids and cyborgs is led by a master race.
In PSO2, this race is Newmans.
>No friend to play with
Wow. You couldn't make one? Too much of a little bitch to play alone and jump into parties?
It's PSO not fucking WoW where you need 25 somewhat-on-point motherfuckers to clear content.
May I remind you that in the PSO2 universe, Humans created all the races present in ARKS by genetic modification of their own race. Newmen may be the first of those modified races, but they are still created by humans, just like the CASTs and Deumen.
Powercreep has actually gotten to the point that most equipment you can buy isn't as good as stuff you have to farm for. I hope you like collecting hundreds of stones.
You need a pass to buy 10*, 11* and 12* weapons (10* and 11* units*) from the player shop as well as premium. You also need to get one to drop to turn into a pass. With the content right now: 10* and 11* weapons / units drop like crazy to the point that EQs drop so many that you convert them to Excubes (Magatsu gives about 100 per EQ for me). Anything of a lower rarity can be bought right away regardless of level (equipping is a different matter).
TACOs are weekly but Daily orders are a thing that give a good amount of Meseta. There's a boost going on due to the anime airing which gives 100% EXP, Rare drop and rare enemy appearance boost.
If you have any more questions: just let me know and I'll answer them the best I can.
Thanks for fucking eating my link
No, your history must be wrong.
In the beginning, there was nothing but Newmans. It looks like your kind must be re-educated from the ground up and your libraries purged of this... blasphemy.
>Not building up 2M for a red weapon until you get Ares/Ideal/Gal/PD/Orbital
>"You need a pass to buy 10*, 11* and 12* weapons (10* and 11* units*) from the player shop as well as premium."
TACO means Time Attack Client Order. Basically, a certain map you must complete before the time limit and you net yourself a good amount of Meseta (at least a million to two million if you throw in Extreme Quest Client Order. Hell, some Daily Orders can be done during the TACO runs).
Wait a minute, so you have to get the item to drop before you can turn the pass in, and it's been a while, but are Excubes the currency used to buy the passes?
When I stopped playing It was Falz
Loserand I did daily orders all the time, I remember those seasonal ones being oh so rewarding.
No. You trade the weapons themselves for the passes. This requires premium. Using the passes to buy shit off the market does not. The point about excubes is that most 10-11* weapons have deprecated to the point where turning them into cubes is more valuable.
Excubes are currency that you use to purchase good items such as 250% rare boosters (6 cubes each, worth it during an EQ like Magatsu so you pull a huge profit), 30/40% affix boosters (they're a fucking life saver when you plan on doing some affixing), 30% grind risk reduction and some other things.
If you exhange for a pass before your premium runs out: you can still use the pass without having premium so you can stockpile a bunch of passes for when you need them.
Yes, you have to get a 10* weapon to drop to turn it into a pass so you can buy the one you want from the player shop. Like I said, you get them very easily when compared to how it used to be (lucky to get a 10* drop from Falz Elder and you had to consider getting the rare booster since it was harder to get cubes).
Yeah, seasonal ones are great especially for low level characters.
the problem is that 10*, 11* and even some 12*s are outclassed by red weapons, which are 7* weapons
the only reason to get those rarity weapons are if you're too lazy to do challenge mode or are playing force
in which case godspeed
You need to get a rare to drop, but they drop so commonly now they can't even be called rare.
But no one cares about 10* or 11* anymore. BO can use Craft Mastery to make their 11* as good as a 12*, but there's a power gap between 12* and 13*. Regardless, there are free 12* pass Title Rewards if you want second best without having to do all that silly hard work.
We're all about stones now. EQs and Ultimate drop various stones that can be collected and traded in for 13* weapons. Though you need a shitload for most of them, and they only come partly attribute grinded, so you have to buy several if you want to get 60 element.
That's true. There isn't really a point to get those rarity level weapons unless it's for cubes / passes to buy weapons with the affix fodder you need.
Gotta love that we're having more gameplay discussion here than /pso2g/.
Leave while you can before more shitposters get here.
Why, I'm enjoying my sweet time with it right now
fighting with Persona. My D is the best D, but Persona's D is also pretty great. I just wish I could be able to wield it, even if it was for a short time so I could enjoy swinging it around.
His sister? Yeah, she's good now. Apprentice is the boss of Mining Base Defense 4.
Ah. That Io webm is a classic.
Acquire sweet metal bod
There's several HUNDRED voice options you can get for your character. There's even special ones from the animu crosspromotions. There's an actual Luvia voice module, complete with OHOHOHO.
they range from easy to obtain and mindbogglingly expensive, the longer their on the shops the more the price goes up.
all can be purchased with the in game currency of course or you can try your hand at the AC scrach which contains the recent ticket for real money
You can get them with in-game money, and buy them from other players. Of course the market follows supply & demand. You can see what voices have been put out and then search for them in the game to see if anyone's selling it and for how much.
They're come from paid content, but end up on the player shops for maybe 300k a pop on Ship 2. 300k is, like, nothing. By level 50, that's maybe two weekly quests that'll take ten minutes of solo work. Some are more expensive because of either high demand or low supply; a lot of things just have not been taken back into rotation.
BTW, Quna-chon is my waifu, so don't even think about her when she shows up
yes, many CASTs are based off of or designed with preexisting mechs in mind
It is time.
Lisa/Risa a best
Will the shitter MC WB magatsu ankles?
If I hadn't already lost my soul to PSO ep1 and 2 on gc I would give it up for pso2 to make it to the west on PC and PS4 and in great English. But yay know never will happen. I wanna play the damn game.
Just please let waifu appear
>SEGA is still holding the IP hostage in Japan
>they're bringing the anime over to the west
>meanwhile in the actual game westerners are actively hunted down and sega tries to ban western ips all the time and for a while you had to use a vpn to get in
why sega, i just wanted to be a gundam
>westerners are actively hunted down and sega tries to ban western ips all the time and for a while you had to use a vpn to get in
iirc sakai said something along the lines of him unofficially being fine with filthy gaijin playing pso2 japan
and the vpn was because they use yahoo japan or something in response to the DDoS attacks
Well there's this. If you want her actual costume you had to attend the musical or someshit.
she's in pso2 as a mag and for dress up
only SEA ips are hunted and banned. if you're a westerner using AIDA's tweaker and you pull some dumb shit or party with a hacker, then you will be banned like those ship 2 losers recently.
>Played PSO2 when it first was available
>Forget to log in for like 2 years after Coast came out
>Come back when Dark Falz Double came out
>Not in a guild anymore, oh well
>Do the story that I've neglected
>Interest GREATLY renewed
If the anime doesn't at least cover Episode 1's storyline, I'll be disappointed. The story in the game is good enough to be its own anime, even if Episode 1 sucked. Episode 2 was fucking great though, especially when
Xion sacrifices herself and causes Luther to spaz the fuck out so hard that he becomes a Dark Falz
NZ is safe, my Kiwi friend.
i honestly don't know. the general rule is if you can connect to http://pso2.jp/ then you're probably ok. the reason SEA ips are banned is because they have their own version that ip blocks anyone outside of SEA. of course, SEA PSO2 is the shit version that's filled with p2w horseshit like balancing content around costumes that have 30 day damage affixes on them when that doesn't exist in JP PSO2.
>adapting any of ep1-3's story
Not gonna happen. The anime is at best a tie in to incoming ep4 which nobody is looking forward to because EARTH and possible SO3 twist.
Episode 2 and 3's stories get really good when nearing the end.
I beat episode 2 and started ep 3 (up to the princess on the Japan planet saving my ass from Double), but I kind of stopped playing again. I know that
Matoi becomes a Falz after saving your ass, and Persona saves her by taking all the darkness out of her, and the Profound Darkness event boss is absolutely fucking awesome, but what's possible for the next episode? What are they doing? Aren't all the Falz dead?
Veil/Deo Hunardidn't get a code disaster, instead we have a generic code duel.
Her theme's still fantastic though. If she didn't get burst down within 10 seconds.
>All the NPCs hunting you down
>That CODE: ABYSS that never completed
>The Ohza, Marlu, Lisa, and Fourie vs You, Echo, and Matoi
>Lisa's kickass yandere monologue
>Regius, Claris, and Casra vs You, Maria, Matoi, Huey, Echo, and Xeno
>That intense boss fight against Theodore, and the good ending he got
>Xion's life revealed
>That ENTIRE Luther fight
>The arrival of the second Mothership
That entire chapter was hype as fuck.
>what's possible for the next episode
It's not looking good. See pic, these two are npcs shown when ep4 previews were first revealed. Red is supposedly main girl, there's a shota she's taking care of, and we just woke from cryogenic sleep or something. Also, earth with mutated businessmen, t-rexes, tanks/steamrollers, and a train that transforms into a hydra as enemies.
Nobody is looking forward to this.
I'm more disappointed
Profound Darknessdidn't get a special code, like CODE: (ARMAGEDDON) or something. Well, whatever, the end of that fight and its UI implications more than made up for it. And hearing Rose Confession and the delayed "...COMPLETED!" just made me cry like a punk.
Only reason I possibly care is it might get more people interested in the game. But the abortion that the anime currently is might defeat that.
>Fighting Profound Darkness
>Ooze and Idola: Strange Fruits
>"How can they top this?"
>Suddenly this remix of the opening theme
Every time. Every god damned time this theme kicks in, it fills me with motivation.
Maybe they'll explain what the fuck Anga Fundarge is with the anime. Shit's like a mix of Darker and Photon Blast. Also a great theme song
Especially when it kicks in after you kill it the first time
A lot of English already play it and its pretty easy, 30gb to download is a pain though.
I'm aware that they do. I play it heavily. I'm just one of those weird bastards who likes seeing more people around. Makes things more interesting, for better or worse.
The anime is frankly so poorly thought out I can't help but cringe.
What makes it even better is it plays while you're fighting
yourself. If there's anything sega knows how to do well it's huge boss EQs. Double was kinda shoehorned in though but it's okay. Magatsu is a mixed bag though, I still love fighting SAI but the regular platform magatsus are shit.
Fuck SEGA. They had their chance. I was so hype for that game, oh, FOUR FUCKING YEARS AGO.
>Falz Elder, Falz Loser, and Profound Darkness have amazing themes with remixes of A Whole New World
>Fals Apprentice doesn't have a theme
>Falz Double doesn't get a remix, but instead some cheesy circus theme
I wonder which Falz will show up in the show, or if it's a new one. You can't do PSO without Dark Falz, after all.
She was a pretty normal girl that got chosen for a fun time experiment because of her high potential to function in a caseal shell or something. Her mind did not take to the experiment well. It's not really surprising, the further into the story you play and more conversations with NPCs you have you find out that ARKS really is a fucked up organization, a lot of that was because of Luther's leadership though.
You could argue that apprentice has all four TDs and the music for them is so damn good especially once you have an AIS up. Best one is TD4 wave 4 while in danger of course.
I hope the anime shows the cast playing in TD.
>Boss starts off with generic mid boss music
>Break one leg, music gets more intense
>Break another leg, music gets more hectic
>Break three legs, music becomes erratic and fast paced
>Break all four legs, music becomes far more intense and chaotic
>This thing is only a real boss in one event that nobody ever does
>Relegated to a miniboss and random loot pinata
I remember in early beta when Ragne was the scariest fucking thing. I hope the anime at least makes it look like an actual enemy, at least one time.
Real life playing mmorpg anime is usually ok when it's an original game.
Taking an establish story like PSO2 and ripping it into an anime? lame.
Also still no english server and offical trasnlation. So don't give a shit.
Jumping thru the hoops to play with the super english speaking weebs has was a horrible thing.
Ship 2 actively partakes in dance sessions with their cutesy lolis and shit. There's maybe one or two good folks there, but it's absolute hell. It's like going to a high school anime club.
I haven't played in like 5 months at this point but yeah I agree with this anon, ship 2 is pretty terrible. I played there because my friends did but I only rarely visited the room where the /vg/ people congregated.
Jesus, calm down
The difficulty was not the problem. The game is fuckin easy even when playing solo. I didn't like joining random parties because the english speaking playerbase for the game is fucking annoying as shit for the most part. Have you ever sat in the main lobby for more than five minutes?
How dead is 4 then? I play during Japan time so there doesn't tend to be many English speaking players on. I'd just try them all for myself but it looks like there is a 24 deletion time for characters.
I'm more of an Azanami kind of guy to be honest.
>organized parties clocking in 3-5 minute kill times
We get the hype part for maybe 20 seconds.
I missed the time when they just added Magatsu EQ and everyone had no idea what to do.
The thrill when he reached the last gate and your mpa managed to take him down was pretty great.
Exactly, how many hours till subs?
>If it's not using magic, it's not a TRUE Newman anyway.
First newmen were a proud warrior race with only healing magic abilities. And all of them were girls. And they gained levels two times faster than everyone else.
>The series is set to broadcast on Crunchyroll every Friday starting January 8 at 10:00pm Pacific Time.
>people actually playing this shit when there's vanilla/tbc/wrath
Sorry, but I can't stand games that give me the ability to move, but not the ability to actively dodge/evade. I'll take PSO2/Tera/Vindictus over Wow/XIV/etc any day.
When I played XIV for free, I liked the open world aspect of it compared to instanced dungeons. I digged exploring, running from one end of the map to the other, but the combat and the whole rotations thing just didn't click with me.
OK, I probably wouldn't mind it as much if I had friends to play with
I kind of wish we got a new Phantasy Star game that wasn't online-centric. PSPortable, Universe, Zero, and the older games prior to Online were pretty fun.
That's probably the actual reason.
Sega will localize every Neptunia game, but won't localize Yakuza unless Sony gives them sacks of money and won't give us PSO2 despite BEGGING for it.
After Nexon's handling of DFO even Konami wouldn't touch hands with Nexon.
Fucking incompetent ass mother fuckers
>"Instead of hiring someone competent to help us simply bring over the existing content, here's Justin Wong, you FGC fags love him right?"
Not that I think the Phantasy Star series has had good storylines in a while, but why the fuck is the show about kids playing the game? Instead of being about the setting the game takes place in?
Aside from some fur on the ears, they're not furry enough to be classified as furries.
And as was already pointed out, people like the aesthetics and the character creator. You can quit your hissy fit now if you're really just pointing out that there's a better alternative.
No, just a pronounced shadow effect of her slightly feline nose/mouth area.
i ran into a random one in the forest when i first started out. cried a little.
then also on that time trial (i think?) a falz angel. like yo i'm just here to run through the forest and fight a rockbear what the hell is this. obvs i didn't finish in time
