So does this mean Hato is going to win?
Can I pretend Nidaime never happened? Genshiken was my favorite manga, and though it started getting a bit wonky when the newbies were introduced, I still thought Ogiue and Sasahara made for a decent romance.
Nidaime isnt bad per se it just that kio is making hyper focus on the wrong characters (hato and mada, new and old) instead of yoshitake, fatty (cant remember) and Sue communication problems among others.
I'm glad Hato's gonna win and I love the original Genshiken and Nidaime. Fuck the haters.
First page. Hato went to Ogiue's booth, right? Who was she talking to though?
Keiko and Sue a best, I'm tired of this gay shit.
I hope Hato's speech this chapter will have an effect on him, right now the taboo thing seems to be affecting both of them much too strongly and they need to look at things more objectively.
Yeah I find the relationship potential between Yajima and Hato far more interesting and I wish he could drop out of the Madarameb owl already so we can pursue that more and let Sue and Keiko fight over Rame instead.
Maybe it's that Spotted Flower is kinda having fun at the expense of us, like a ill-spirited practical joke. "Haha, you fuckers. You want that? You can't have that!" What makes it somewhat aggravating is that his main series now seems more like an agenda driving panderama, than the Saki/Madarame pairing ever was.
The Yajima/Hato thing has a bitter aftertaste to me. If the author really goes for that pairing at some point, then it feels somewhat galling that back during Genshiken 1 we couldn't have MadaSaki, because lolreallitycheck.
Can you elaborate on that a bit more? I find it interesting thanks to Yajima's body issues and general insecurity mixed with her seeing Hato as manly opposed to everyone else's feminine view.
It's not about reality, MadaSaki makes zero sense. Saki had a boyfriend, she never had feelings for Madarame plus she was a normal girl.
Yajima and Hato on the other hand are both weirdos, she's fat and ugly and he's an abomination. Social outcasts hooking up makes sense.
To me, a Yajima/Hato relationship, should it happen, is as its base also a "wishful thinking" kind of pairing, just like Madarame/Saki was said to be back then. Back during G1, it was a somewhat bitter pill to swallow, when Madarame got shot down, but it was accepted because of muh reality check "of course it wouldn't happen" kind of explanations.
Now with Yajima/Hato, the author may go for a pair-up that's just as "unrealistic" as Madarame/Saki was. What's galling, is that now Kiyo makes the effort to pave the road for it, when back then in G1, we got cockblocked with characters I liked a lot more. It doesn't help that Spotted Flower shows that exploring such a relationship and the hijinks that would have happened on the way to it, could have been every bit as entertaining, if not more so, than what we get now.
I'd have gladly taken some kind of "road to Spotted Flower" story over Madarame's shitty harem hijinks and Hato's gender issues, any time of the day.
It was never viable, because Kio wrote it that way. He's jumping through hoops now to make the contrived relations in Genshiken 2 work. Could have done the same back in the day. Saki's boyfriend, whose name I can't even remember anymore, never felt like a real character anyway, more like an insurmountable road block without flaws.
Besides, Saki having a boyfriend back then could have been easily remedied at the start of G2. Saki turns up, somewhere during the (re)introduction the girl talk turns to boyfriend. Saki's face turns sour. "we split up, because of stuff". Bam, new setup. Wouldn't have been much of an emotional loss for the reader, since (now ex-)boyfriend never was much of a character to connect to anyway.
Hato chapters are literally always some of the most cringeworthy in the series.
He started off as a fanservice character and now every chapter with him is about muh gender issues and muh homo fantasy. I half expect that if they hook up that the romance will die out after the spark from forbidden is gone.
At least Sue has character to explore. Hato's has been done to death at this point.
>I half expect that if they hook up that the romance will die out after the spark from forbidden is gone
If their romance ever takes off from handholding it will self destruct fast.
>10 years later Madarame/Saki shipperfags still salty about their ship not being canon
The ending part soiled it, it's trying to pull of a muh love conquers all obstacles but like...
This relationship is based solely on it being forbidden. Like there is nothing else to this romance. Sue actually fits into the taste of Mada better and she'd be an interesting character to explore for a few chapters even if they broke up.
Please, just end this suffering you call "Genshiken Nidaime".
I want Mada to end up with Hato so bad
It's funny, thought I'd hate Nidaime for fujoshit. Then going ahead to read+watch it... I miss the fujoshi nerding out, why did the author go all out with harem story instead?
Hato is going to win..Angela is just stupid paring, and I don't want Sue to win
Saki and her boyfriend hardly had a relationship. She started dating him because he was attracted. Aside from ONE chapter, I can't think of any moment he actually showed any manner of care toward her. On the other hand, Madarame and Saki spent a lot of time together, changed one another, and had a developed relationship (romantic or no). Madarame isn't pretty, sure, but saying it's unrealistic that they might have fallen for one another is ridiculous and contrived. The trap boyfriend practically didn't even EXIST in Genshiken. He rarely appeared and rarely did ANYTHING.
Kousaka and Saki did spend a lot of time together though, there were several chapters focusing on their relationship. She was definitely very much into him despite all her complaints.
Except it wasn't a friendship story, it was an awkward one-sided romance story. And most of Genshiken as it goes forward is focused on romance, which is actually what makes Genshiken an awful read.
I mean, at first it wasn't.
Like at all, the only awkward romance was with Mada that was destined to crash and burn. Then they hinted at something with Sue. Then they added Hato crap.
Then everything was awful.
I cannot bear this gay shit.
Madarame used to be a cool character, now he's just a drama anchor for the series. Gay drama to boot.
Just end it, nuke it, burn it to the ground.
I don't know why i keep reading new chapters...
Because you've stuck time into it and don't want to feel like you didn't finish it.
Just like someone stuck in a bad relationships or marriage, you know it's bad and it's just going to be worse and more awful but... You've put so much time into it you can't help but stick with it.
Hato winning over Sue would be a crime on the line with Usagi Drop end
remember when this was a fun show about anime nerds and not some tedious gay romance that never ends
Ogiue still the best girl
Same. There's only so much you can explore male and female otaku culture, I'm glad it's focusing on character interaction instead.
As much as I'd like him to win, I doubt Hato's gonna win, though. Madarame seems to be in love with the trap idea more than anything, and when reality hits and he's in front of an actual penis it won't be as charming to him anymore.
Hopefully I'm wrong though, it would be pretty original for a character to come to terms peacefully with his newfound sexuality and pursue a healthy relationship. Sue/Mada and Hato/Fatty are so boring and typical, so I really don't want those to succeed.
Fujo pls go
The issue is even if he does fall for him the relationship won't work. He doesn't like Hato, he likes traps and Hato seems to not even understand his own sexuality or own sex.
It's a disaster waiting to happen especially in a manga that started as an otaku pandering manga.
>Madarame seems to be in love with the trap idea more than anything, and when reality hits and he's in front of an actual penis it won't be as charming to him anymore.
pretty weird how you hit the nail right on the head but still want it to happen
I think the main issue is that Madarame is afraid of female contact so he chickens out and goes with what's familiar to him, which is men.
He simple goes the easy route, even though it's not the one he wants.
He is a pathetic caricature of a man and he should commit sudoku.
>He doesn't like Hato, he likes traps
I literally just said that, you fucking idiot. Can't you read? It's very clear to me that's probably the case, I'm just hoping it isn't because it'd be a very boring and cliché turn of events, and it'd get even worse when the other two most probably couples get together. Sue is boring and has no real personality, and Yajima is the kind of fujo I fucking hate, bitter and constantly complaining and moping about how ugly and untalented she is, when she barely tries at all.
I'd rather have Madarame be gay than let those two succeed in relationships that are even more unrealistic that Mada/Saki was.
Because It's just my speculation. Maybe it isn't what Shimoku is planning. Maybe Madarame realizes the reason why he likes Hato the best is because he's not a woman, so he doesn't frighten him as much and so feels comfortable with him instead of stuttery and nervous.
Those are the two paths this could go down to, either Madarame is in love with the trap fantasy or he likes Hato because he makes him feel at peace.
My problem isn't that I dislike Hato, I like him a lot actually, it's that I've seen so fucking much of him and all he does is run into the same internal struggle again and again and again and again.
Rally wish they'd explore more of Sue and Yajima. There's a lot of interesting characterization to the two of them we just rarely see.
At this moment i don't know why im still reading this fujoshi shit maybe still hope for madarame open his eyes and stay with Sue
Fat guy, Kuchiki, Kousaka, Ohno and her boyfriend were all one-dimensional as fuck. That one chapter in Nidaime where Ohno is worried about her future is probably the only time she has had any kind of depth.
First Genshiken only focused on Saki, Madarame, Ogiue and to a lesser extent, Sasahara. But it did a great job on them.
The only delusion I'm getting is that Hato end would actually end in a happily ever after and not just an eventual self destruction ending with Mada all alone and Hato even more sexually confused.
Actually just do that, I want everyone to be miserable at this point.
>I want everyone to be miserable at this point.
they should get Inio Asano to write the series from now on
We're still not sure. Could be just altTimeline where Saki and Madarame end up together, or future of the current timeline where somehow things end up going Mada's way.
At the end of the day, while the character parallels are way overt, these are (technically) different characters with no names. Maybe he's just getting a different kind of story out that has no place in Genshiken.
Either way, at least it has a semblance of progress. Following Nidaime is pain
It's an alternate universe. All the characters in it are "not" the same as their Genshiken counter parts, despite looking and acting the same. Author being non-committal i guess. That's why everyone calls them NotSaki, NotHato, NotOhno ect.
More than non-committal, I think he's contractually obligated to keep Genshiken characters in Afternoon only, which is not where Spotted Flower is published (Hakusensha I think)
>remember when this was a fun show about anime nerds and not some tedious gay romance that never ends
It's a female otaku oriented manga where as OG Genshiken is male oriented. Get that through your head dumbass.
It seems like I'm the only one that likes Keiko?
I mean sure she's sorta liberal and bitchy at times, but she's rational and actually the closest to how real women are like. Even her bitching is generally reactions rather than stupid tsundere bs.
Hato is a man.
Angela is a gaijin plus Americans aren't like that irl.
Sue is better than Keiko, but there are little to no Sues irl.
I'm hoping Keiko/Sue wins, but evidence since Angela's turn has been pointing at Hato.
>I wouldn't mind Nidaime if it was just fujoshi being fujoshi
Nidaime isn't fujoshi being fujoshi(it is, but that's not what I'm getting at). Nidaime is TARGETED towards fujoshi so what's wrong with homos, homosex, bl, and harems? That is literally fujoshit in a bag.
Nidaime is Genshiken if it was fujoshit
I truly dislike this whole shipping bullshit, but I tell you, if Sue doesn't win I'm gonna get so fucking mad.
Yoshitake's the one who should have had a harem
Nidaime Keiko's great, but she was insufferable in part 1. She's pretty much been wrapping up all this harem bullshit singlehandedly.
Sue > Keiko > Angela > Hato in terms of who ought to win the Madaramebowl.
I feel like all the people bitching about Hato winning are the same ones that bitched about Chihiro winning TWGOK.
>b-but Madarame only likes trap Hato
Kio has spent so much time showing how Madarame cares for Hato beyond just looks or him being a good cross-dresser. Fujoushi don't even know this series exists, they like shit like Haikyuu or Free. Characters like Madarame or Hato wouldn't appeal to them at all so I hate people writing off Nidaime as fujoshit.
I would say she's the poorman's Saki. She's not without redeeming factors (maybe you just forgot about old saki)
If anything she's superior to Saki in that she didn't hate on the genshiken guys for no reason. Also she doesn't throw tantrums for no reason like Saki did.
Kio really focused on developing Keiko more in Nidaime.
Keiko probably has the widest emotional spectrum and different faces. Goes well to show her direct upfront personality.
That upper left was the nail in the coffin. No point in putting that there unless Hato was gonna win.
The problem is that Madarame is a fucking mess. Even if a relationship happens, do you really think it could last long when society thinks it's terrible and disgusting and Madarame is a social coward? Madarame has been flustered and excited over the forbidden and taboo aspect of Hato -- they're both playing fantasies off each other. Reality is hitting them now and honestly if Madarame can't even get himself to interact with regular women without imploding then he's definitely not ready to enter a complicated romantic relationship with a man.
This is the most suffocating series ever
because everyone is constantly drawn sweating all the timeit's making me too hot and bothered to read.
I doubt this is going to be better than Ogiue's arc but still.
NotHato is a massive slut.
She has a busty gf and still tries to fuck NotMada, worst thing is that she has the nerve to go and demand Yajima some loving after she failed spectacularly.
