What is the general opinion on Overlord?
I just watched the show and I'm reading the light novels right now.
My little brother found out about it before me and liked it, too. So proud of him.
>Vol 10 can't come soon enough
>manga likely on hiatus
>general opinion on Overlord
Love it or hate it basically
If they like the premise, they discuss it endlessly
If they get mad at the isekai stuff or the OP MC, they seem violent
either way the fans never seem to get enough
Fucking love it. Its just a shame that yenpress got to the translation. See you when games like Yggdrasil are a reality.
It made ludicrous boost to the LN sales but I doubt S2 would boost it any higher and there's quite little of any merchandise of the series.
Shame but maybe for the better, knowing we'd have lizards and Climb to deal with for starters. If they ever do S2, they should just instantly go for 26 and cover 4-9.
I'd almost forgot how nice it could be for a protagonist to not be a useless piece of shit. It's a refreshing change for one to just kick everyones ass instead of whining about getting stronger to protect people or some shite.
I really liked it, the last arc felt like it came out of nowhere though and seemed out of place. The MC being a giant skeleton god and the other characters being extremely entertaining was the best thing about it.
Also the scene where the girl got crushed was great.
The only actual things to stay from the mmo as mechanics are the fortress/guild management system as far as I know. The rest is disabled (or not carried over) and people using their powers have to use their mind to imagine a skill use and its variables with their "mind" in New World.
On the same note I wonder how chaotic it has to be with Ainz and his minions, since the summoner/pawn is a two-way relationship, mental link between both and in 7-9th volumes Ainz is already commanding hundreds of not-dumb-low-level minions.
Overlord is boring as shit. Ainz and crew stomp everything they come across which means no suspense, meaningful conflict,or anything that makes a good story. It's like playing a videogame with Godmode activated, fun at first then boring as fuck.
Then it would just end up being shonen power level power creeping and training montages of who can break the "max" by pulling more shit out of their ass, which is also a shit kind of story.
I'd rather take the curbstomp and internal conflicts of battling paranoia but alas, that kind of conflict is hard to do with visual medium. The biggest meh downfactor for me was the reliance on cash shop items.
He is way too eager to use them and we don't know how many types there are or how many he has left so author can just bullshit up more by convenient plot reasons.
He's got minions who can manage that. Albedo handles most of the secretary work so Ainz even said that he doesn't have much to do besides his secret acting training. Also given that he can't experience intense emotion its impossible for him to break down mentally. He also was hailed as a formidable commander and skilled player when the game was just a MMO so even without his treasure trove or crazy skills he'd still be pretty powerful.
You're missing the point. He has the best items in the game. He has a guild weapon on par with the best items. He has a absolutely loyal army stronger than anything in the world.
Cash shop items don't really matter. Their just a part of the setting at this point, yet another facet of Ainz overwhelming power.
I thought it was trash. I don't like power fantasy "wow let's all jerk off to how great momonga is" stuff, and sucked on top of that.
The fact that everybody is literally programmed to like him makes it kind of pathetic.
I'm not missing the point, I'm disregarding it since it is already a matter of fact that we know he is the most powerful entity in New World if you factor in his remnant of guild that transferred with him.
The cash shop items are like a unknown chekhov's gun, they're introduced but not to a big degree due their variability and author can too easily pull out them when plot so requires as modifiers and whatnot.
The Twenty one-use super uniques are a decent kind of asspull, even if pulled out suddenly during a crisis, they have been introduced as a category and you know they're one-time use albeit extremely powerful. It would be stupid if said item would have no effect or it landed on his left hand after he used and made it respawn with his right hand.
>The fact that everybody is literally programmed to like him makes it kind of pathetic.
I was fine with it because he doesn't enjoy it at all. If he got any sense of relief from their undying loyalty instead of hilarious misunderstandings it would bother me too.
So you're mad that he has secret OP items that you believe will get him out of a jam when even his Wish ring didn't dispel the MC on chair?
If anything the cash items just made it possible for him to have a fight that Albedo begged him to not do because it was a bad matchup, and even then all it did was make a very entertaining combo viable.
I don't think they qualify as chekov's guns if they aren't plot related.
If he does pull out some ridiculous shit that lets him squeak by where he would normally die like a bitch I'll complain too, but for now I'm fine with the p2w items as they are only adding flavor to the series.
Not that he couldn't just strip nazarick naked and steamroll the NW anyways.
Mad? What shrooms are you on, they're "could do without" level of shit. They just feel way too quick asspulls and cheap compared to the already established divine and world class items.
Sure by 9th vol I'm not bothered by his quick cast p2w item but just like he spammed p2w items to remain out of sight in the BD extra, author could just invent all kinds of oddball items if the situation so arises that he writes himself into a corner.
Hence I hope the use for new kinds of modifiers like that remains very, very limited and author refrains from introducing too many of these on top of those fast gear switch / instant cast / undetectability / invisibility p2w items.
It has its moments. I find it entertaining enough. Momonga does think/act like a dick from time to time considering he was a human not too long ago, but I guess being spooky does that to people.
Gotta love Albedo's antics though...
If you're not baiting. Less videos games, mostly D&D in real world. Good times.
>I don't speak Chinese
That is Japanese actually. Unless you have links to a chinese translated version.
>Imagine fucking Lupus
Ok, it is that time again.
>Momonga does think/act like a dick from time to time considering he was a human not too long ago
I don't know how many times it needs to be said that he's a spooky skeleton who only has vague traces of emotions left and views humans as bugs.
Actually, I have this nagging voice telling me that S2 might be announced together with Vol10 of the LN.
It is announced at the last BD release.
It's an interesting take on a stale, generic, insanely overdone premise. So while it's cool that the MC is a skeleton with a demon army, I'm starting to get tired of the "stuck in an MMORPG" setting.
>views humans as bugs.
Narberal is that you? You venture out with Ainz-sama for so long you still don't get it?
>mfw some jiggerboo thinks a single title a season and some light novels is overdone
>probably jerks it to magical battle school mcs with hidden powers and a tragic past
I'm just saying, posting your opinion on something you've never read is silly. Give it a shot anon. You might like it.
>v10 is months away
>we were all expecting it in December
Are you baiting? On the off chance you're not, he hasn't TLd that yet because he doesn't have the Chinese raws yet. He only translates shit from Chinese. He said he will get it sometime but I forget the date.
My opinion is Momonga needs to hurry up and find a way to give Albedo the hard dicking she needs to calm her down.
I'm just going off what some anon said, that its taking awhile because he doesn't have raws and its 200 pages or something
The only way I see it happening is when he finds out about the true purpose of the Strongest Squad and realizes he needs to figure out a way to control her because the groundings don't work.
I imagine he'll give her a fellow Overlord from the library to molest and leave the rest to demiurge to MC her.
For someone who don't play MMO rpg, incomprehensible.
Also, for a megalomaniac like myself, exercise of power without any prospect of gain is a horrid waste.
I like the character design etc, but as whole I could not understand what's so exciting about it.
the issue isnt that he views humans as bugs
its that ainz really doesnt view anyone in the new world as human until they have a face to face talk with him. he recognizes someone as human like nifria or gazef since he talked to em hes nice and perfectly willing to treat em like humans. but everyone else is an generic npc or job title in his mind. ainz still thinks the new world is a game it took him like 8 volumes before he started thinking of the guild npcs as actual people and not just liking em cause his guildmates created them.
On top of it, he is helping out with other LNs.
And a real world job.
translations hard work and its supposed to be huge. What the hell happened to the artbook though? one anon had it in his hands and was posting a few pages he doesnt need to translate shit just scan the thing and upload it
> before he started thinking of the guild npcs as actual people and not just liking em cause his guildmates created them.
when did this happen? I thought he still viewed them as dolls made by his friends and so he viewed them as 'children' since ever
He is done with vol10 around mid Nov. The publishers are the one deciding on the release dates.
Maybe they need to to further edit the story, get artwork, printing company vacancy, etc.
Depends, author said he has planned the series to be 18 volumes at shortest but "if people so want" ie, sales are strong, he has ideas for taking it further or a longer route.
The chinese scans only a few pages.
The artbook have 2 Anons on it.
1st is a Anon got the artbook and sending it to another Anon to scan.
2nd is a Anon got the artbook, but his scanner went dinosaur.
Both Anons have since disappeared from the Overlord threads.
Vanished Anons included
The BD purchasing Anon that scan the PPP short story and stuff. You guys should remember him by the Risk map he used to place his purchases on.
The GB Anon. Guess he gave up.
Early days translation Anon.
>there's only room for one Mistress in the Tower, my lord!
LET ME TELL YOU WHY THAT'S BULLSHIT
>fucking around with the series
Suddenly Overlord got Magical girls, Mechas, School girls after senpai, op character that dual wield swords and waifu grade female characters.
We probably saw that coming 100 miles away.
I wonder how alfredo came into existence
>so you've got a vampire loli huh?
>yeah isn't she great!
>no, we need a succubus right?
>b-but we have demiurge!
>this is for the male demographic you know?
>o-ok maybe a succubus
>and she's smart
>and she's crazy
>a yandere, isn't this a series with a yandere
>but isn't that wish fulfillment? I just want to make my dnd fantasy real...
>this is the industry you're in now
the whole point of the NPCs is watching them grow and become their own people.
hell Albedo literally creates her own secret deathsquad to hunt down the other guild members.
cocytus gets his lizard friends. Demi has his happy farm and shalltear drinks herself to undeath
>Early days translation Anon.
You mean the one that did the Volume 2 spoilers/summary?
Because that's me. I also did the cleaning and leveling on some of the early Overlord illustrations.
I think albedo's obnoxious begging is there to make ainz feel guilty about changing his friends settings. He feels like the rest of the group are his last hold on his previous friends but albedo has been defiled by his meddling and is no longer a true representation of her original maker.
and as for pandoras actor im sure if any of the other characters saw their characters they would be just as if not more embarrassed
Looks like an interview.
Wonder if someone could translate this in its entirety.
Wait a minute - how many chapters were in Volumes 1 and 2?
Translation from Uxtef
Lord Ainz has been gone for so long, it's lonely here...
Is there anything interesting around here?
Albedo looks lonely...
We must cheer up madam Albedo!
Welcome to the Pleiades
Pleiades home shopping network
home shopping network!
What are you...
We were in a hurry, so please turn a blind eye towards this.
Well then, let's look at
Volume 3 of the Overlord manga.
That lovely figure on the cover... Is that lord Ainz?!
I want it! I'll buy it!
This supreme volume contains
lord Ainz disguising himself as a human and going on a mission.
I want 2 copies!
Now why don't you girls also say something about it?
It's full of very tasty looking creatures.
I'm looking forward to Narberal's souvenirs.
There's some cool looking animals...
/a/ has fluffed over half a dozen different RPG-inspired manga over the past year, and a couple of them are actually pretty fun. Overlord, however, doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
Now, I'm not to here to insult your taste or anything like that. I'm just a little curious as to what you think of the other RPG-inspired manga that have found some degree of popularity on /a/.
Do you think Overlord is the best in its genre? How do you think it stacks up against other similar manga?
>The Rising of the Shield Hero
>The one about the Slime
>The one about the immortal rape wizard
Though DM and Helck are both something a little different, they're still set within an RPG-inspired setting and make references to game mechanics.
Basically, I want to know what separates Overlord from everything else, because it's by far the most popular series in this category. This was the case even before the anime came out.
I just don't get it.
I'll buy 10 copies! (Idiot)
No, make that 100! No! 1000! (Big Idiot)
No! Just sell me everything you have! (Super Idiot)
... And so,
Overlord Vol.3, filled with all of the above content is now on sale.
Thank goodness madam Albedo has cheered up...
Look for it in your nearest bookstore!
Nazarick residents can place their orders over the phone.
Albedo, I need...
Did you need something, Demiurge?
I'll come back later...
The cover illustration.
Overlord volume 3
Now on sale!
That's it. Thx to Uxtef for Translation.
I came to Overlord for its art. Stayed for its DnD inspired story.
As for your list
>The Rising of the Shield Hero
Started off good. Rapidly turned to shit.
>The one about the Slime
Never really appealed to me.
Didn't enjoy how it's written.
>The one about the immortal rape wizard
Couldn't get past the edge.
Pretty good. Can't really compare it to Overlord since their focus are completely different.
>Do you think Overlord is the best in its genre?
Why is there a need for ranking? Who cares about that?
>Basically, I want to know what separates Overlord from everything else
Read the LN
Good character design
Characters Dying off screen
6/10 on a good day
>Why is there a need for ranking?
There isn't really a need for anything we do here on /a/, yet here we are.
The reason I'm curious is that I can't see what makes Overlord special and different, especially when compared to some of its contemporaries.
>Read the LN
So it gets good later?
It's manga about a level 99 human hero who wants to become the demon lord. It's pretty good, you should check it out.
The Anon that drew these >>135778034
He actually help got me going full CYOA with this.
Those early Overlord days where kinda fun.
Started off interesting, turned into haremshit.
Kind of rubbish with massive japanese culture wank, stupid neverending powerups that he keeps getting, but he never ends up using because he's so overpowered that he doesn't need to and the severe lack of world building.
Dungeon meshi is actually quite fun. I mean, the formula is more or less the same every time.
Run into trouble, solve it by somehow figuring out a way to eat whatever monsters are nearby. Rinse and repeat.
He seems to be winning on the polls.
>literally one of the biggest gary stu
and i thought /a/ hates gary stu
>let me explain my skill before i use it to you
>your attack so weak, let me explain why
>i wont lose to you!let me explain why
i expect ainz vs shalltear would be a good battle and thats what i get
Can't say I liked it after watching the first season, it was too much jerking off and too little actual plot or even a setting.
>MC is already insanely powerful when it starts (in the game).
>Gets moved to a much weaker, blander world.
>Like, just a freaking medieval world where the strongest warrior from the kingdom can't even compare to him.
>Every character we're introduced to at the beginning absolutely adores his guts and does everything he says without any doubts.
>Every character introduced afterwards takes one or two episodes to become the same because Momonga is just that good and perfect, as a mage, warrior and leader.
>Only characters that don't like him are the bad guys, presented as completely irredemeable assholes that die instantly after when Momonga just casually massacres them and everyone goes "OH GOD HE'S SO COOL".
>Albedo is there literally to be his whore.
>...and then it turns out Shalltear is too even though this time there's not even the "oops, I fucked around with the coding" excuse.
>The one time someone could harm him at all he starts pulling more and more spells, items and shit so no matter what happens he wins.
There is quite literally nothing interesting at all in the series outside of watching this guy do stuff that takes him no effort and elicits no big reaction from him while everyone else masturbates to it.
Not to mention the stuff he does do is just "alright, let's build a base and explore a bit" and everyone treats it like he's the military genius of the century.
Most of what you listed is a positive.
Overlord is escapism. You're supposed to self-insert as the MC so it feels like all the characters are fawning over you.
If you don't understand that then this sort of story isn't for you.
>hei, perhaps you are a transfer student?
>even if (this game) was recommended by Peroronchino-san, you don't need to force yourself so much...?
>her eyes are more lifeless than a death knight...!
>I wish they at least they had a similar splendid white bone figure like momonga-sama
>something- memorial (the game box demi is looking at)
>there was download content for necrophilia fans
>there was such a thing!?
>they are both lacking, aren't they
>the right one is a bit better
>I can't tell!
>and that's why I hate spiders
Spiders don;t have Antennas Anon.
He have probably Fetishes across the spectrum.
What was Momonga's role in the group anyway if he was playing an RP build?
Generally speaking, minion master builds tend to be quite bad in most games.
Though in all fairness, the universal weakness of minion masters might not exist in Yggdrasil.
That weakness being that of AI.
If one could make custom behavioral patterns for the AI to follow, then they would be quite powerful when used correctly.
Such a function could have been possible in Yggdrasil, making MM builds viable.
I like both solution and lupus because they are good actresses. solution is still my fav one but lupus grew on me a lot during vol 8, I just love her "I do whatever I feel like doing" attitude displayed in carne village
>What was Momonga's role in the group anyway if he was playing an RP build?
More like the "odd one" role in a grp. You played MMOs before right?
Imagine you are in a game with active PvP, you are continuously hunted down, and one day you meet up with a few ppl that happen to grp up to prevent getting banged daily. You party with them since then. Then you found out that the are all RP builds, only you are geared toward PvP.
Will you leave them? Or ask them to switch? Chances are, you still roll with them, since they are the only ones you can trust.
Momonga is a RP built, but the others didn't mind since they are together since troubling times.
>Though in all fairness, the universal weakness of minion masters. That weakness being that of AI.
Actually MM in a PvP game will play as a "nagging" role. consistently making your enemies having to shift their attention away.
Healers getting attacked my minions?
Either someone else have to get rid of them or the Healer need to kill them themselves. etc
And looking at his Super tier skills of Fallen Down and Creation, it seems like he was the oddball rp build that twaddled bit in to a support role (his debuffs/movement restrictions with summons and time stop/combo wombos with p2w & 700 spell library).
And as a tactician (like Punitto Moe). I mean, he did class spells from 18 systems of magic? And he mainly prefers summons, necromancy and gravity/time spells as far as we know. And shit like lightning/fire and Shark Cyclone. What system would the last one even be? Geo/Wind?
>Shark Cyclone. What system would the last one even be? Geo/Wind?
If you ask me, it looks like a custom spell. Take a spell, like Tornado, wind dmg, modify it to do Wind + Physical dmg.
If Ygg is as customisable as we think it is, the might also be modified Tornado spells and name them yourself, that does Wind + Fire (Burning Tornado) or Wind + Lighting (Nature's Rage), etc
I really wish one day Ainz will cast a Tornado that contains Cats, Killer Rabbits and Badgers.
>Furball Chaos Tornado!
Eh, he was good enough even without being a top tier PVPer. At least he knows his abilities, rather than a wannabe PVPer who can't use his class abilities right.
Besides, he's not so good at PVP but if this is anything like D&D, being a master of instant kills lets you bypass trash encounters and play Russian Roulette with the bad guy's life.
Lurking anon here, suprised non one posted the new confirmed spoilers for BD4:
Momonga thinks of food as something just to fill the stomach. You can literally drink a Beef Steak away. DMMORPG involves the usage of a) nanomachines b) brain plug in system (think the matrix or GiTS) c) Special helmet that records user logs. That is also how people access the internet. Most people lived in Biodome Cities. At least two were confirmed in Europe due to a news about conflict between both cities. Momonga lives in a single apartment. His most expensive furniture is his chair. Momonga developed skills due to swearing not to be a Pay to Win player with Perorocino and another player (not sure who though). Perorocino however break the rule because he wanted to add special effects to his armor. Touch Me likes Kamen rider. His action Yggdrasil is also a tribute to his favourite hero of justice.
Here are also some uncofirmed spoilers, from mandarin translators, that I don't know if are bullshit or true about Ainz being transfered to NW:
Yddrasil was actually part of a larger project (Eden Project) by this group known as unbrella. Momonga's real world is dying from excessive pollution. Several Bio-Domes in Europe have fallen. He was targeted cause he was basically a loner. No one would question his dissapearance. A larger backstory was hinted about his background. One of the researches is a woman and has a male avatar. At least 16 people were transferred to the new world before (subjects 9-16) are hinted to be the 8 greed kings and also to be a group of teenagers wanting to dominate the world.
They have been on and off in the threads except for the first one. I hope that one means he doesn't care what to fill his satiety in (as human) and not that he would actually fix himself a beef jerky parfait ala ar-tonelico.
They have credibility from the
biodomespart but it's not that hard to fabricate bullshit using latest info.
And it wouldn't really make sense for narration to reveal the amount of transfers to NW if the MC somehow doesn't get wind of it at the same time.
>BD4 took two weeks to arrive
>manga volume 3 didn't even get shipped yet
>Comp Ace Feb' 16 Issue is still on its way
Truly a harsh start for my Overlord needs. I feel left behind.
It was quite odd if it indeed is true (from BD4 extra) that
you can't change the guildmaster or guild name after creation. Would the guild get dissolved if he deleted his char?
Momonga was more or less perfect choice for it either way, not a cult personality, not a tyrant or egoist and just wanted everyone to get along. His only bad habit being the naming sense.
>Generally speaking, minion master builds tend to be quite bad in most games.
wasted potential , liked the first 3 episodes since it looked like the conflict was going to be about a salary man clumsily trying to fit into a role he is unfit for but then it just became another power fantasy battle harem.
Anon that started "shizu cuts your dick off because she found it useless" here
did ya miss me?
I'm right here. GBAnon.
Shield Hero manga rips apart Overlord manga like wet toilet paper. The only merit of Overlord manga is how cutesy everything is for reaction images.
The anime for Overlord when compared to the LN is absolute garbage. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise from an objective standpoint it retcons for no purpose and only breaks apart future storylines, as well as being nowhere near the animation level of say, OPM. All it has going for it are the excellent VA and occasional cutesy moments.
But both series skip out on tons of shit from their novel counterparts, however with Shield Hero a lot of it is in the same territory as LMS/Re:Monster/Slime Tensei/Wordmaster/etc where it's just RPG level up + new loot fluff.
With Overlord all the RPG mechanics are tied to the plot or sub plots. An easy example that literally happens in volume 1 is
the foreshadowing that Gazef has an item that lets him level up temporarily entering heroic tier. The value of this information is tied in the fact that the ring is made out of Dragon magic which is supposedly different than Yggdrasil magic (also possible it's just Super Ranked magic that's mistaken for something different) and ties into PDL.but unless you paid incredible amounts of attention to the detail it wouldn't even occur to you to be possible before hitting volume 6, and then finally confirm it in volume 7.
The only thing that goes along those lines for Shield Hero is
Bitch Goddess and how she's just a bratty gamer exploiting the mechanics.. Everything else is really in your face.
But ultimately what makes Overlord the most popular is because of skeletonfags and edgefags and evilfags cause let's face it, there's not a lot of options for that kinda thing. Everything else is more supplemental rather than being a core reason.
And here I thought there was still a remote possibility that
the 8 greed kings are the other 8 founding members of Nine's Own Goal. You know just for that despair factor to Ainz once he finds out.
Considering the world they live in it's kind of a fair point.
>Anyone equipped with world item World Savior
Kind of depends if the person using is competent and not just some idiot who decides to play hero (aka Climb).
>Any two of the 100 level NPCs working in tandem
Nah Ainz could still take 2 of them, unless all of them decided to go against him.
>World Champions. Particularly Muspelheim's.
>MMA Champion in real life
>#1 WC in the rankings of all 9 WC
>Muspelheim's Fire Giant lands are owned by one of the top 3 guilds that Ainz considers a threat to AOG
All from WN so the credibility isn't rock solid, but it should give you a hint on what the author initially planned. Also #2 WC is Touch Me as Alfheim's WC, but he has lost to #3 WC in direct combat before, whatever the fuck that vague shit means.
Also in the WN Sebas is confirmed as Caucasian looking, and since Touch Me modeled Sebas after himself that almost confirms he's a white guy or at least half white.
I'd like to think the one underwater is just one person, going from how PDL spoke about 'her'.
But then again, 'she' might not be a dragon lord, could possibly be World Eater, or could be the newest WC that took over the WC that got deleted after turning into a World Class Enemy.
And that's just skimming the tip of possibilities. But what you said is indeed another possibility.
I'd doubt any player or guild was that laid back that they would stay hiding if they had as much influence to be a considered a party or better yet, have functioning guild hall (like Ainz and 8GK).
If there are players still around from times before Ainz got there, they'd probably be singular entities like the Minotaur Sage or demihumans living with their "kin" outside of the human domains' influence.
On that hand I'd hope Ainz at first would actually run into a demihuman player that has been molded by their avatar like Ainz is losing his humanity to the lichdom.
Ie, a beastman demihuman player finally lost his marbles and is now instigating the war against lolimilf dragon queens people for mroe meat.
Or since Akemi has been hinted on so many times, maybe she could be there, hiding from Theocracy's tyranny with the rest of reclusive dark elfs (or wood elfs). Or with the elves that packed their shit and ran out from the forests/areas around Azellerisia mountains.
And Akemi would be a player that would be accepted by both Ainz and Nazarick as a "guest" very easily, making her a good introduction to the story. She can't be a threat to Nazarick or undermine Ainz's control over Nazarick or the loyalty of the residents.
>Kind of depends if the person using is competent and not just some idiot who decides to play hero (aka Climb).
You don't need competence for World Savior. It's a weapon that has grown without limit so it's probably +10 quadrillion damage by the end of a long running MMORPG. Ainz thought that the entirety of Nazarick at the height of its power would have no chance whatsoever against someone wielding World Savior.
That would be just too cruel. But either way, Akemi would be the prefect instrument to introduce the elven races and Theocracy at the same time. One stone, more casualties than BS is going to have when Ainz gets his hands on them.
>On that hand I'd hope Ainz at first would actually run into a demihuman player that has been molded by their avatar like Ainz is losing his humanity to the lichdom.
That's probably going to happen when Nazarick gets involved with Dragonic Kingdom.
That doesn't matter, it's still objectively a better adaptation than the Overlord manga, simply by means of the vast disparity of the source material in how well it translates into a monthly manga medium.
I'm not talking about subjective stuff like haremshit. It's just the way the novels are written. There's a reason Overlord is an actual novel, not a light novel.
Would read of adventures of Warlord Enri & her entourage with co-starring Aura & Mare (and some Nazarick support) to coach them as mercenaries/actual military and they present themselves as mercenaries for hire to the lolimilf queen.
The problem (aka the entertainment) is that Aura and Mare wouldn't know jack shit except teaching the beastmasters how to train their animals better. The twins are almost Shalltear level when it comes to general knowledge outside of their jobs even Cocytus who is made to be a pure warrior is absolute shit at strategy and tactics as shown in vol 4.
Ok, here's what happens if some NW got the sword:
>"I have come to defeat you Ainz Ooal Gown!!!"
>Swings at him
>Ainz casts [Grasp Heart]
>Guy dies and Ainz gets another WCI
It has to be a lvl100 player and he has to be able to hit Ainz, Ainz could just fly or teleport and bombard him with spells, use another WCI or use GOALIT and kill him after 12 seconds.
That's an assumption. Who knows, it might increase the statistics of the user accordingly, making even a child holding it into an onslaught without end.
>+10 quadrillion speed
>+10 quadrillion evasion
>+10 quadrillion debuff resistance
We don't know anything about it except that it can single-handedly defeat Nazarick.
>It has to be a lvl100 player and he has to be able to hit Ainz
That's dubious logic. Literally AOG at their peak, with all 41 members with Rubedo and 8th floor and all of Nazarick would crumble from 1 faggot with the stick, meaning all 12 of their WCI and all of Punitto Moe's strategies would be meaningless.
In fact, if it's just a matter of hit or miss, then AOG wouldn't lose to 1 guy because WS is a 20, so they just have to outlast it by rotating their fighters instead of trying to gangbang the guy.
Yet that clearly wasn't possible given how absolute the statement was. It's bullshit is beyond trickery.
What's with the 4th leaflet manga? Has it been uploaded and translated somewhere?
Do they want it? Yes? No? Maybe?
Thus it would be a learning experience for them too, and they have to cock it up at some point too. Rest of the guardians have already experienced their personal challenges and A&M aren't going to walk away without theirs.
Of course Ainz wouldn't throw them out there alone but with a proper quest and more guidance. Aura & Mare have scouted lands and so on for a long time and they are at least socially adaptable, albeit bit childish.
No idea, someone found it somewhere, another Anon did a little translation.
I guess ppl here would prefer a more clean translation.
At least Nemu would get to play dress up with A&M. So far even the Emperor himself fell for the ruse. I doubt anyone other a pure child would be able to see through the disguise at this point.
Wait a minute did you got yourself a new set?
Btw you got this pic? Without the sample word?
Here come the "Workers did nuffing wrong" defence squad.
>inb4 explanation squad rage.
So, doing it like always then would be the best.
Doing it ourselfs is always the best.
Nope, it's my old one. I forgot what I posted already and what not. I think I posted everything but the Comp Ace Issue with Shalltear on the front cover and both manga volumes.
>Btw you got this pic? Without the sample word?
Nope, but I got an order in transit with Overlord posters in it. I don't know if its part of that set.
it's called Overlord for a reason; I was just slightly upset that the asshole of the group got a quick death while the others were eaten alive and/or tortured.
That being said, whose voice did Entoma steal? Arche's or Imina's?
I hate MMOs.
I hate his inner monologues where he spergs about being an autistic salaryman.
I hate the lack of any substance. He's already overpowered as shit, has all these fucked up P2W items and any real issue stems from his paranoia, letting devil man dictate his actions or his harem getting too attached to him and the other guild members.
The setting, side characters and NPCs seem wasted.
Hmm.. If I'm not wrong it seems like Aura is trying to break Hamsuke psychologically, for some reason.
I hope Ainz just gave them a long sentence and lets them off the hook after they serve their due time.
Kind of like how the Eight Fingers woman got broken in and let off the hook for further use.
So you thought it would be a good idea to bait that exact response?
One thing about this show that really rattles my johnnies is the shitty attempts made at producing western-sounding words
What the fuck is "ainz ooal gown" supposed to mean? Why does that noise have to grate my ears a dozen times per episode?
It's probably a reference to his current situation: Ainz Ooal Gown
One all gone
Ainz sounds like eins which german for "one", and the authors shown he has some knowledge or love for german stuff has shown with PA.
Yeah, the only way for a NW to leave a good impression to Ainz and Nazarick is to survive the first 10 seconds and not be too antagonistic.
If you aren't worth "collecting" like Ainz and Aura like to phrase it, you better not make the mistake of raising your finger against them on that fateful encounter.
Why is best son so fucking based everytime?
>no dick to fuck your waifu
>too much of a kek to be yourself in front of your minions
>tormented by your own fantasy
>pawn to those you're supposed to lead
>too shortsighted and stupid to value sentient life
Could momonga be any more pathetic?
>no dick to fuck your waifu
Small price to pay to be able to summon fuckin Lovecraftian monsters and black holes, also polymorph.
>too much of a kek to be yourself in front of your minions
They could turn on him or take away control of Nazarick from him if they found out.
>tormented by your own fantasy
>pawn to those you're supposed to lead
Not really a pawn if you just go with the flow.
>too shortsighted and stupid to value sentient life
Why should he care about insects?
SAO was better. It actually had more than 2 minutes of choreography. The source material was just inferior but the adaptation itself was vastly superior. It says a lot when Gary Stu dual wielding nigger dildos has more action than Ainz vs Shalltear in melee or Momon vs Clem or Shalltear vs Brain.
I mean come on, Gazef was only missing DEMACIA during his fight against SLS to be a bonafide assfaggot.
But the majority will never acknowledge this, simply because they can't take 2 minutes to separate the vast difference in source material quality. SAO wasn't the fucking anime that had their best choreographed fight be exclusive to the opening and have the in-episode version of that fight look like dog shit with CG.
No, he's not funking Mr.perfect-best-player-ever like Kirito. he atleast has character flaws, I agree that in terms of adaptation SAO anime is better but the LN is way than SAO will ever be.
Also stop baiting.
Finally, feels like one of those old Overlord threads
Hopefully Nigel/Early days translation Anon sees this.
>Small price to pay to be able to summon fuckin Lovecraftian monsters and black holes, also polymorph.
Interesting way to compensate for a dysfunctional social life
>They could turn on him or take away control of Nazarick from him if they found out.
As expected from a cowardly NEET shut in, he's too afraid to take charge of his life in the fantasy world just as much he was in the real one. Pitiable
He spends his entire free time practicing mannerism. Don't pretend this isn't torment.
>Not really a pawn if you just go with the flow.
It's his goddamn fantasy turned reality. Only the ultimate kek would dedicate the opportunity to paranoid delusions.
>Why should he care about insects?
Just because he's playing dress up doesn't make him any different.
Nope it's baiting. Being retarded would mean they either come up with new shit or get angrier over time and sperg out real hard.
Climb-sama however, is a consistent, persistent, methodical shit poster who goes about it step by step repetitively. Just like in the novel.
Sounds like someone that doesnt have disposable income for P2W games.
>not really a pawn if you just go with the flow
Trusting a manipulative devil man with free will while having inner monologues about not knowing how to lead his employees/henchmen doesn't help Momongainz's case.
>he's not funking Mr.perfect-best-player-ever like Kirito.
but he is , no one in that world even comes close to being as strong as he is , the strongest swordman in that country could be one shoted by his summons i'm not even sure what the conflict in this show was suppose to be about,
it seems like just the same kind of power fantasy , just one for some reason or another clicked with certain people in a way that sao didn't and now they are too embarrassed to admit they are into power fantasies and then try to rationalize it away.
SAO was wasted potential with horrible characters that author even admitted being personal self-inserts. And nobody would deny Overlord isn't a power fantasy, you can just drop your shameful validation quest at this point.
>but he is , no one in that world even comes close to being as strong as he is
That's not the game world.
In-game Momonga is only mid-tier at best, he'd get blown the fuck out by Touch Me or Ulbert who are actual PVP superstars.
The whole character is a representation of the NEET demographic. People who are indecisive and impotent despite having everything to move on in life. Similarly, the character has all that and much more, but is held back by his own fears and character flaws, which is the reason the audience relates to him.
>SAO = MC straight out powerfuck everything up, basically, 0 Fucks given to every problem, as he can just stab and slash his way around.
>Overlord = MC can fuck everything up, but try no to screw the fuck up as he is trying to make do with WTF he knows is going on.
There is a huge difference Anon. What you saying is like Fried Chicken taste like Stewed Chicken since both are chicken.
Dungeon Meshi and Shield Hero are the only ones in that list that didnt come out as dreck.
I specifically dropped RE:Monster, because what looked to be a survivalist journal turned into a Coldsteel the Hedgehog level nightmare the moment he upgraded to super special snowflake ebin ogre.
>ranged attacker with a bow rushing forward
You do notice that the 2 behind him are spell casters and they have lower HP and AC.
I really want to see it animated. Damn good fresh idea.
Are You YurifagNo.1 or 2?
>Ainz is bad at PVP
what? it was literally stated in vol 9 that if anyone ever fought Ainz a second time you would lose due to his planning and countering skills. Ainz would even forfeit the first round once he got enough info to come and win the second.
This is also how he beat Shalltear despite her being his direct counter. Since he had all of her data before going into the fight.
A Djungarian's life
H: Tis I, Hamsuke.
>H: Following Ainz-dono, I have arrived at the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick
>H: I-I am the new recruit, Hamsuke.
>H: I may be inexperienced, but I hope you will take good care of me.
>Likewise, pleased to make your acquaintance.
>Feel free to ask us if there's something you don't understand.
>H: The people at Nazarick were (unexpectedly) very kind. I am relieved I was able to start my new life without a hitch.
but anon you were right the conflict is about a salary man clumsily trying to fit into that role. He sits in his room practicing regal hand gestures just to trick people.
the 'power fantasy' is just to slowly turn him into the OP villain of the NW in the eyes of everyone else.
also its not a harem, at least not yet. only albedo and shalltear want the bone currently
>H: Tis a great day to work hard
Later that night...
>H: At this rate, I...
>H: I will be skinned alive by Aura-dono...
All of Aura's bubbles in this are 'mofumofu' which basically means fluffy.
>What was Momonga's role in the group anyway
Guild Mascot, as well as the autist that puts in way too much money in the game.
>H: I implore thee...
>H: Please do not skin me!
>M: I don't think terrorizing him will amount to any good...
>A: What are you talking about? Psychological attacks are the basis of any animal's training.
>A: I'll definitely make him mine.
>H: Don't skin meeeee
> Imagine fucking a Lupus.
Anyone here there is luking or posting long enough in Overlord threads will know the story of this pic I posted.
Why would I keep reading it if my conclusion after an entire season was "walk away as fast as you can"? Even if it got better afterwards I wouldn't enjoy it because I already dislike every character and everything they do.
There isn't enough content for a OPM Season 2 + Madhouse and gathering all the freelance talent again is unlikely so kiss your bullshit pipedream goodbye.
Calcium Lord will have S2 before One Cour Man.
Theres a lot of cringe worthy shit in the LN, but if it didnt bother me before, why would it bother me now?
Talking about Demiurge and farm. I remember recently I saw a pic of a doujin showing Demiurge giving Mare a tour of his farm, with the female captives treated like Fatal Pulse milking cows.
>Renner and Demiurge decide to experiment and conceive a child that outwits both of them by magnitudes.
Child calls Ainz the Slow Uncle and nobody knows why yet still praises Ainz like he is lowering himself to amuse a child.
>workers dindu nuffin
Here we go.
Have anyone here thought about Lupu and Clementine could be best friends forever?
Imagine the shenanigans.
>What upsets me about this whole thing is the notable lack of fanart of her fate in the WN.
There are quite a number Anon, you sure you looking at the right place?
Although i agree Overlord is a power fantasy. The fights aren't the point of the story, they don't need to be flashy or even exciting. If you ever actually played either D&D or even baldurs gate you'd realize most fights are about class specific skills, buffs, spells and counterspells and the effects of magical weapons and armor. What happens in the NW and the characters as the results from the fights is what interesting. Overlord is mainly about exploration and management, every single thing that happens is done to either gather information or spread Ainzs/Momons fame across the NW. Ainz and his guild although insanely strong still are in danger in the NW , the Shalltear incident proved this. I think Maruyama showed Ainz at almost full power in the Shalltear fight just to get it out of the way so people arent always waiting to see him get serious. He goes into insane character depth for a reason, to show how these characters think, and how they would deal with a character like Ainz.
and for the last time stop comparing Overlord to SAO or log horizon they aren't trapped in a game for fucks sake. its more similar to shieldbro.
It was Arches voice, remember they used every part of her body, nothing went to waste, Imina and Warrior Bro went to have a fulfilling life together, raising children.
>but he is ,
He is completely paranoid that somewhere down the line he meets a player, because another player has the tools and mindset to wreck his shit.
Thats why his standing rule for the lvl 100 Npcs is runaway if you meet a player.
>I still think it will be Renner that will kill Climb after he loses her "pure eyes" for her
Though that's probably what's going to happen because the japanese have shit taste, I still think it would be utterly hilarious if Climb embraces and goes full M once Renner reveals her S side
Nah, she didn't confirm that analogy from the conspirators to way or another, why would she condemn her offspring to be retarded as Climb?
That would be a worse crime against humanity than the 6 million, wasting her genepool and intellect. Her view on love is just that twisted.
Yes do you have a problem with ranged attackers closing in to close range?
Renner doesn't give a damn about genepools or the legacy of her intellect, and only cares enough about her inheritors to give them a comfortable life. And she very clearly wants those inheritors to be Climb's.
>Missed the keychains preorders
>Can't find the Iphone cases anywhere
>Only things left are the low-quality posters and bags/shirts
>still no Alfredo or Heinz figure
Why is life so hard, Papa bones?
Brain will eventually become Shalltear's vampire slave.
Climb will then ascend to forever being a "cursed hero"; the one that always leads in a massive army, only to be the sole survivor every time, with people wondering why he's the sole survivor. Not knowing it's really because of the deal between Nazarick and Renner.
Evileye will go full Vampire and join as Shalltear's slave too, with both of them lusting for skeleboner.
The 16 people doesn't match up with the general timeline we have though:
600 years ago:
- 6 Gods
500 years ago:
- 8 Greed Kings
400 years ago:
300 years ago:
Maybe around 200 years ago, if not 300:
- 2 human-type players; presumably one newbie and one veteran who were power-leveling together on the last day.
200 Years ago:
- Minotaur player Boastful Sage appears in the Beastmen tribes
100 years ago:
- Momonga and Nazarick appear
Confirmed informatio so far from the Prologue.
) Momonga thinks of food as something just to fill the stomach. You can literally drink a Beef Steak away.
2) DMMORPG involves the usage of a) nanomachines b) brain plug in system (like in the movie matrix) c) Special helmet that records user logs. That is also how people access the internet.
3) Most people lived in Biodome Cities. At least two were confirmed in Europe due to a news about conflict between both cities.
4) Momonga lives in a single apartment. His most expensive furniture is his chair.
5) Momonga developed skills due to swearing not to be a Pay to Win player with Perorocino and another player (not sure who though). Perorocino however break the rule because he wanted to add special effects to his armor. Touch Me likes Kamen rider. His action Yggdrasil is also a tribute to his favourite hero of justice.
>what? it was literally stated in vol 9 that if anyone ever fought Ainz a second time you would lose due to his planning and countering skills
Not him but this needs to be cleared up. He isn't invincible during a rematch, this is a fact since he's still listed below Ulbert and Touch Me, whom he would obviously have many chances to duel against if he wished for it and have way more information on hand about them than any of his would be opponents.
It's more that in a re-match, Ainz would be fully prepared because he's the type that drills his DDR patterns into his head. He's a very typical type of gamer who can't react outside of what he's prepared for, kinda like 99% of PvE raiders and Arena/Duel fags that excel at memorizing match ups and exact chess patterns.
It's not surprising that he wouldn't excel at all forms of the game, and based on the fact that even all of AOG adheres to Punitto Moe's mentality which is basically don't pick battles that you aren't prepared to win against, it's very likely most of AOG weren't reflex monsters capable of dealing with whatever shit flew in their face out of nowhere.
This is supported by how they sperged out when one guild Ouroboros'd their mine, and they despite having Punitto Moe, still spilled enough spaghetti to force an attempt to retake the mines, culminating in them dying at least once and losing some rare items.
They are still capable of being flawed even if they were hardcore gamers.
Now I want to see this.
Nemu would have been a nice test subject, if her sister and the village weren't already swearing loyalty to Ainz.
They also mentioned spell creation and spell alteration in the past, so it would work out quite well.
>Although i agree Overlord is a power fantasy. The fights aren't the point of the story, they don't need to be flashy or even exciting.
This is very true, yet unfortunately it translates very poorly in real time aka anime. For instance, the scale of speed was done very poorly considering Gazef spinning like a retard was arguably faster on-screen than Shalltear charging Ainz.
Though to be honest, most adaptations are like that, novels or manga. The source material simply never had to account for it. I think Claymore might be one of the few anime that kept the scale properly as it progressed power levels, considering how even up until the final North town arc, only the characters specializing in speed or being hot shit like Leo, Priscilla, crazy Clare, and Teresa could make speed lines. Everyone else had to be animated properly.
He lucked out and got to fight Hamsuke. Mostly because Ainz deemed him pointless to practice against. He also had the worse party to test defense mechanisms, so that was ironically what saved him from more suffering.
Though assuming he had real pride and not fake pride, you can't say he didn't suffer. A giant hamster treated him like trash after all.
Nemu is innocent enough to be the best convert into Nazarick evangelist ever. Altered Roberdyck and time-fwd'd Nemu touring countries with minions, preaching about Supremacy of Nazarick when?
Aside from the WN version successfully being converted so that his faith in some other god grants him magic power, did we ever get his fate in the LN aside from being captured?
Also, would Nemu end up dressing like White Mage and going around acting like a saint, only to secretly enjoy violence due to some fucked up training with uncle Cocytus?
>so that his faith in some other god grants him magic power
Wait did that happen? I thought in the WN they converted his god into some random shit, and then he couldn't use his cleric powers afterwards, so they turned him into a lump of self regenerating meat ball.
I don't remember the exact setup; but I just recall a discussion where in one version the altered faith conversion still lets him keep his powers, but in the other version, it fails and he becomes infinite meat.
For sure the other faith-based member was eaten alive by roaches. Robdyck was experimented on, but I don't recall which ends he got in which version. Could have mixed up experiments though.
It's very hard to make a general opinion with Overlord. There's people that love it, there's people that hate it.
Both have reasons to do so( spooky skelly with lack of morals/self insert powerfantasy)
As always, thanks for your work.
>Only characters that don't like him are the bad guys, presented as completely irredemeable assholes that die instantly after when Momonga just casually massacres them and everyone goes "OH GOD HE'S SO COOL".
>Albedo is there literally to be his whore.
Well, that only happens with the two first enemies that he encounters. And one of them wasn't even that kind of an asshole, and other group just crossed his path.
The real antagonist here are an ancient Dragon trying to save the world from players as they trend to destroy too much and their NPC are highly dangerous to the world, a young Emperor who has created an stable, rich and powerful nation by his own and struggling to survive the threat that Nazarick posses to all humanity, and your typical shonen hero trying to make his kingdom a better place.
So, usually Ainz comes up at the bad guy. I mean, he kidnapped hundreds and stole all what he could in the Kingdom's capital, just to use the bodies for experimentation and food for his servants. He tricked people to come to loot his house and then proceeded to experiment with them as well.
Oh, and let's not forget how he ended up colonizing the lizardmen just to prove a point, how he murdered other adventurers just to increase his fame, how he took control of the most powerful criminal organization in the nearby nations using torture, kidnapping and mind control...
Ainz is not a nice guy.
i give it 7/10
a bit above mediocre but not especially good
points for originality and doing the mc stuck in mmo best i saw so far but its just unfinished and suffers from some weird ass time skips and tone shifts
also since it has no ending and will never have one, i would never reccomend it to anybody
Every fucking time. Thanks.
Nah, they're just making a living in a world where almost everything can eat a human, most monsters can destroy a village, and once in a while a monster shows up and casually destroys a city.
> Nazarick members are nice to recruits (barring exceptions.)
I want to see Tsuare's 'adventures' within Nazarick.
Everyone knows she's Sebas's "lover", even normally dense Ainz (because Demiurge told him) with Sebas in semi-denial.
>The Theocracy became the most powerful country in the human world by removing all non-human rights, persecuting them and using them as slave workforce.
/pol/ was right again.
>Everyone knows she's Sebas's "lover"
I bet they are just as scared of Ainz being mad with them that Sebas blowing up their heads with a single punch.
Although she is the only member of her species, so it probably doesn't matter and she can't reproduce nor does have any genitalia.
Sorry anon but
it never will most likely, because we know Momon stays as a heroic legend to the likes of the guy in vol 6's CD drama with no hint implying they knew he was Ainz.
>but I guess Ainz didn't know either at first.
Hamsuke revealed her belly as an act of submission the first time around remember? So unless Ainz just didn't connect the two together, which is totally Ainz-like, it's more likely that he just gave her a bad name, which is again, totally Ainz-like.
There's nothing out of place. Ainz is just that kind of person. His naming sense is arguably Weed-tier, easily worse than Rudeus.
Actually, most of the 'loser' MCs have bad naming senses. The geniuses usually just either make references to Nippon stronk or Nippon nostalgia like Ernesti.
The hint was that when she rolled over, Ainz didn't comment on a giant hamster showing it's disgusting ballsack to his face which would have ruined the cute nostalgia moment and potentially made him kill her.
But like Gazef's ring, it's hard to guess anything without context.
