if i recall correctly, the author tried to explain it with some bullshit like "he transferred his character from sword art online and was put in the closest GGO character skin available because GGO doesnt have custom character creation like sword art online did" which doesnt make any fucking sense considering that slut sinon looks exactly like her character..
This was borderline cheating on his girlfriend. Actually the entire season 2 was basically cheating on her in every way besides sexual. Don't believe me imagine them genderswapped and think about the ntr shitposts that would result from it.
>>135752137 He was born that way. >>135752165 >If Kirito had been a trap all along, SAO would've been miles better. >been a trap all along >Then I was gripped by a sudden foreboding and realized what >Kayaba’s present, the <hand mirror>, meant. I raised the mirror in a rush, and the face staring back at me. >Black hair that lay neatly over the head, two weak looking eyes that could be seen beneath the slightly long hair, and a delicate face that made people mistake me for a girl even now when I go out in casual clothes with my sister. >The calm face of a warrior that <Kirito> had had even a few seconds ago was no longer there. The face that was in the mirror— >Was my actual face that I had tried so hard to escape from. >a delicate face that made people mistake me for a girl even now when I go out in casual clothes with my sister.
>>135752165 Like the snippet >>135766884 posted shows, Kirito was always supposed to be a trap. Character designers just overlooked that, and the story really only referenced that in inner-monologue, or the time Klein called him cute as a joke.
“Hey, Kirito! You look pretty good in real life! You’re quite my style!” I smiled bitterly and shouted over my shoulder. “Your look suits you ten times better too!” Then I turned my back on the first friend that I had made in this world and ran straight forward ceaselessly.
>Klein thinks real life Kirito looks good & is "his style" >Kirito replies that Klein looks 10 times better
>>135760959 It's in the books. Kirito actually has a very feminine face and body in real life. That's why in SAO he made an avatar with a tall action hero appearance before they were reverted to their real appearance. When joining GGO the game auto assigns a bodytype/head to you based on your body/face dimensions out of a preset collection.
All of that got cut into the 5 second bit of the older guy wanting to buy his account for the rare M-9000 class avatar. You can't change it once issued, just have to buy a new account from someone else. The higher the number the closer to the opposite sex it looks.
All of this was possibly ret-conned by the addition of the GGO spin off books though. The two main characters made/got/use avatars that were complete opposites to who they are. Have not read them yet.
This is why Kirito looked like a girl, because puberty was not kind to him.
Best parts of SAO: >All battles that Kirito had no presence in >The realization that that "handsome" black fairy was actually your step brother
Best parts of SAO2; >All of GGO before Kirito revealed to Sinon that he was a dude >Happy grenade double suicide (Fuck you, it was cute) >Klein hitting on an AI >Mother's Rosario between the raid and the last meeting
>>135768329 >Happy grenade double suicide (Fuck you, it was cute) Yea, it was cute, but it's like the fifth time I've seen it in a very short time. I don't get why you'd quickly change a detail like that before the official release, like really nigga was hunger games REALLY that good?
>>135768192 GGO avatars were always random-ish. They only kept your gender except in glitches. Kirito got a really rare avatar, because GGO will reward you rarer avatars if you have higher play-time (like 2 year's worth).
Sinon wanted a very scary looking avatar when she created, and ended up with that. She planned to reroll her character, but Kyouji convinced her to keep it. Kawahara just wanted to keep characters with a consistent body-type. Sigsawa doesn't care.
>>135768435 Hunger Games had a battle royale to the die, except it was real life, they get to the end, the two lovers don't want to kill each other so threaten to eat poison berries to get out or both die and leave no winner which is a big no-no. they both get out, the end.
>>135768747 I'm pretty sure it was incentive to transfer over from OTHER games, but that actually makes sense.
You know, Kawahara's future has quite a few scary things.
Orwellian surveillance with cameras everywhere that recognize your face (but apparently teenage murderers can just avoid it) Micro-transactions in character creation taken to the extreme VR software that no one really knows how it works but everyone still uses it And of course Super AIDS,
What are the chances all of this happens? He already predicted that same-sex marriage would be legal in America, one year before the first state legalized it, and 3 years before it became legal nation-wide.
>>135768329 >Best parts of SAO >not including Kirito and Asuna's sappy puppy love scenes Fuck, it was cute. You don't usually get to see an MC go steady with a girl on-screen or the couple fighting side-by-side. It's just the honeymoon episodes didn't mix well with the other parts of the show.
Actually SAO felt like a bunch of shows' premises cobbled together. >fairies
>>135769599 >Actually SAO felt like a bunch of shows' premises cobbled together. Because that's how SAO was written. Especially the Aincrad "arc", which was a bunch of side-stories that the show just cobbled together in chronological order.
>>135770026 >a bunch of side-stories that the show just cobbled together in chronological order Aye, I read the LN & all the main Aincrad stuff minus Aria in the Starless Night was there in Volume 1. The writer didn't expect SAO to be anywhere near so popular so Volume 1 ended with Kazuto in the hospital. Volume 2 had many inbetween stuff.
>>135771523 I don't really find tripfags annoying. I just find it annoying when people post image macros. I mean really, SAO is shit enough already, you don't need to remind me that it's even worse where I'm not looking.
>>135771282 >"Hey, remember that one chick from all the way back in episode 2? Yeah, she comes back." The last time you saw Asuna was in episode 2 when she was a nub. I guess they needed to establish that she eventually became a srs gamer and 50 DKP MINUS end-game guild officer or something in order to properly establish her exasperation during the nap scene of slightly retconned importance.
>>135774758 I remember they said right after Season 2, that they already had in mind who would be voicing everyone in Season 3.
Also, there's already an SAO movie in the works, so I expect Season 3 to come out some time after that.
Of course "better" is subjective. It has its high points and low points. It's actually the largest arc in the series—it currently makes up half of the total number of books, and it's still ongoing, which is why it the anime hasn't covered it yet.
Anyways, my favorite parts of the arc are basically Eugeo and Cardinal (pic related)
