I use VLC and this is completely untrue.
MPC-HC is just way easier to use, and has way more options.

I feel it is sufficient. I used to hide everything and just use the keyboard for controls when I used MPC-HC, so a simple gui that only appears on mouse over is good enough for me with mpv.
