Hey there. Dumping a 1-volume adaptation of a novel, by Maruo Suehiro. Edogawa Ranpo's works became public domain recently (and his works have been adapted into manga numerous times). I have another anthology that I'd like to dump after this, so I might do that as well.
>During the Meiji period, this story centers around an unsuccessful science fiction author who masquerades as the dead son of an industrial magnate. With his new family's riches, he creates a fantastical island to satisfy his desires.
>In his manga adaptation of The Strange Tale of Panorama Island (Panorama-Tou Kidan), Maruo strays from his usual style of explicit gore while maintaining his trademark: elaborate, elegant art.
>Sprawling, overwhelming landscapes, a diverse range of uniquely designed characters, and even scenes distorted grotesquely for effect are captured with ease by the talented and experienced mangaka.
>Note: Won the Tezuka Osamu New Artist Prize in 2009.
>Mruo
Also, the original Panorama has been translated and published in English.
This manga was amazing. Suehiro was on-fucking-point with his art.
Fuck yeah, got this last year. I love Maruo's art, and when he's not the one writing the story, the books tend to become really great.
I really can recommend the book.
