A traumatic experience. I did not enjoy it. It just showed me how fucked up anime can be and how negative and evil the good guys can be. His dad was evil to such an extent. It's just depressing, confusing and you can literally feel the world coming to an end with every episode.

Fighting scenes looked cool, but the plot was a mess. Something about depression, being unable to open up and aliens who just happen to have human hunting as hobby. Also, Kaoru was the moment when all suspension of disbelief went down garbage chute. Ending - I didn't care by that point, it was pretty evident that writers wouldn't be able to make even a decent one.

It made me determined to get things done and live a happy life, even if things might go to shit. Very beautiful movie.

It was a life changing experience. It made me feel vulnerable; I saw my weaknesses in most of the characters and was forced to confront them all. It was, to tell the truth, a little frightening. The series started off somewhat light hearted and ended on a contemplative/upbeat note but toward the end it just began to tumble down into the darkness and then off came the band-aid.

Honestly, to sum it up, it made me feel vulnerable but also to have the courage to face my insecurities and in the end, the world is what you make of it.

Truth being OP, if you actually are depressed and not just having meme depression, I mean shit like overwhelming ennui, suicideal ideation for long periods of time, dysthymia etc, if you are genuinely experiencing those nothing will save you. Not be to a pessimist it's just there's a reason suicide rates drop suddenly past the age of 30. Here's a hint, people don't magically start turning their lives around.

You're fucked, I'm fucked, we're all fucked, it's just some are able to ignore it or trick themselves a bit better for longer periods of time. Depression and suicidal thoughts are perfectly natural responses to this current "reality" as it is. I wouldn't worry about trying to procure meaning, you're just going to continually disappoint yourself.

I learned how to fall a sleep while watching anime.

I felt really attached to the characters even if most of them were pieces of shit, they felt really human, and i could somewhat understand Shinji's feelings and relate to them.
