I dunno, at least with Vitamin C you have some control, and can return to normal, you're just really fucking soft. GER is just fate, you will die, but you will never die the same way, it's nasty, but at least you aren't experiencing the same death endlessly. Act 4 is horrifying though. No matter where you go, what you do, who you are, you will be trapped. You can never be moved from where you are stuck. You will stay there, you will die there, and you will rot there. The entire arc was a callback to Kakyoin. Hazamada contrasted Kakyoin heavily despite sharing so much in-common with him. It might also be to show the difference between a new stand user and someone born with an ability like that.
Maybe someone who was born with it feels more inclined to use it responsibly.

If we're talking about changed plot points, I always figured DIO's stand power was meant to involve teleportation of himself and others at first. "The World" referring to an ability to appear anywhere in the world. That would've explained how his assassins always seemed to pop up in the Joestars' path (since DIO was scouting them with HP and sending them there, providing a legitimate reason for D'arby to know the secret of DIO's stand - another potential dropped point) as well as this whole scene which hilariously makes no sense if you consider what The World's power actually ended up being.
