Reposting because anon pointed out that I picked an awful time to post this the first time and most of the participants probably didn't even see it. I've also added some new fields based on your feedback, the results will be posted at the end.
We took a survey of 476 /a/nons to determine /a/'s Official™ and Objective™ AOTY 2015.
Categories include best anime, worst anime, most surprising anime, most disappointing anime, best OP, best ED, best OST, best girl, best seiyuu, shows watched, and shows dropped.
The complete data sheet is here:
And remember, none of this matters anyway because your tastes are superior and you've always known /a/ had shit tastes anyway.
First, the seasonal awards, starting with Winter:
AOTS - Death Parade, with 71 votes
WAOTS - Aldnoah.Zero 2, with 50 votes
SOTS - RollingGirls, with 39 votes
DOTS - Aldnoah.Zero 2, with 57 votes
OPOTS - Death Parade, with 98 votes
EDOTS - RollingGirls and JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders - Egypt-hen, with 25 votes each
OSTOTS - RollingGirls, with 37 votes
Best Scene - Death Parade, with 13 votes
ED starts playing during the conclusion of the episode 8 & 9 arc
Best Girl - Katou Megumi from Sanai Heroine no Sodatekata, with 8 votes
Kato Megumi also took second with an additional 6 votes
Best Seiyuu - Kayano Ai, with 6 votes
Most watched show - Death Parade, with 192 viewers, constituting 64.43% of voters
Most dropped show - Absolute Duo, which lost 50 viewers, constituting 16.78% of voters
Maybe it was just a weak season, but Death Parade dominated the competition. The only thing people liked more than the show was its OP.
It was also the season of the anime original, with Death Parade and RollingGirls snatching up almost all of the positive awards.
Megumi was especially impressive this season, as she managed to overcome the flawed and lazy tallying system to take both first and second place, no wonder Sanai's waifu wars were so intense.
With Winter over we got some actual competition in Spring:
AOTS - Hibike! Euphonium, with 65 votes
WAOTS - Denpa Kyoushi, with 33 votes
SOTS - Etotama, with 38 votes
DOTS - Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu, with 23 votes
OPOTS - Kekkai Sensen, with 41 votes
EDOTS - Kekkai Sensen, with 64 votes
OSTOTS - Kekkai Sensen, with 50 votes
Best Scene - Kekkai Sensen, with 10 votes
At the end where Leonardo Watch runs towards William.
Best Girl - Oumae Kumiko from Hibike! Euphonium, with 15 votes
Best Seiyuu - Hayami Saori, with 10 votes
Most watched show - Hibike! Euphonium, with 149 viewers, constituting 52.46% of voters
Most dropped show - Denpa Kyoushi, which lost 54 viewers, constituting 19.01% of voters
KyoAni proves that they've still got it, grabbing AOTS on the strength of their unparalleled ability to produce best girls and blatant yuri baiting.
However, despite being a music anime that's also actually about music, it was beaten in every single musical award by Kekkai Sensen.
Etotama may have only won a handful of AOTS votes, but it still managed to surprise everyone with 3DCG that didn't suck ass. Too bad the sales made this zombie franchise even more dead.
Nagato Yuki-chan wasn't the worst anime this season, but that didn't stop it from pissing Haruhifags off to no end.
With six different shows winning awards, the competition was at its fiercest during Summer:
AOTS - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 71 votes
WAOTS - Charlotte, with 37 votes
SOTS - Rokka no Yuusha, with 28 votes
DOTS - Charlotte, with 48 votes
OPOTS - Overlord, with 25 votes
EDOTS - Overlord, with 23 votes
OSTOTS - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 30 votes
Best Scene - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 8 votes
Renge learning to ride a bike.
Best Girl - Sakurada Akane from Joukamachi no Dandelion, with 6 votes
Best Seiyuu - Yuuki Aoi, with 8 votes
Most watched show - Charlotte, with 161 viewers, constituting 58.33% of voters
Most dropped show - Gangsta., which lost 49 viewers, constituting 17.75% of voters
Surprising no one, NNB takes AOTS and heals our weary souls. What might surprise you is that fewer than half of you actually watched it, making it the least watched show to win AOTS.
/a/ sure loves trainwrecks. Charlotte, despite getting WAOTS and DOTS, still managed to garner the highest viewership this season and a sizeable number of votes in all other categories.
Rokka no Yuusha is the Strongest Surprise of the Season, either because it kicked its fantasy setting out in favor of Batman solving mysteries or because it was a LN adaptation that was actually faithful to the source right up to the hook for a sequel that we'll never see animated.
In stark contrast to the comfy OSTOTS, Papa Bones' loud electro won OP and ED OTS.
With Sakurada Akane, Kasuga Ayumu won over our hearts and our dicks with more flat, twintailed goodness. I'm sure the incest didn't hurt either.
Finally, we reach the end with Fall:
AOTS - One Punch Man, with 99 votes
WAOTS - Comet Lucifer, with 36 votes
SOTS - Osomatsu-san, with 36 votes
DOTS - Comet Lucifer, with 29 votes
OPOTS - One Punch Man, with 76 votes
EDOTS - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 32 votes
OSTOTS - One Punch Man, with 38 votes
Best Scene - One Punch Man, with 25 votes
Saitama vs Boros
Best Girl - Tatsumaki from One Punch Man, with 8 votes
Kirima Sharo and Kafuu Chino from Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? are the top two if you combine their different spellings.
Best Seiyuu - Inoue Marina and Yuuki Aoi, with 5 votes each
Most watched show - One Punch Man, with 209 viewers, constituting 77.41% of voters
Most dropped show - Comet Lucifer, which lost 58 viewers, constituting 21.48% of voters
There was fierce competition between the top five this season, but OPM still wins an overwhelming victory in several categoriies. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the sheer number of people that watched it.
Osomatsu-san proves that you don't even need a full season to surprise us. Just hope the second half can keep it up.
Despite having less than half the viewers, GochiUsa manages to put a dent in OPM's winning streak with lolis and rock paper scissors. It also managed to produce 3 strong candidates for best girl and would have won if this poll wasn't so broken.
Now on to the yearly awards:
SOTY - Himouto! Umaru-chan, with 18 votes
DOTY - Charlotte, with 34 votes
OPOTY - One Punch Man, with 53 votes
EDOTY - Kekkai Sensen, with 44 votes
OSTOTY - Hibike! Euphonium, with 33 votes
Best Scene - One Punch Man, with 27 votes
Saitama vs Boros
Best Seiyuu - Yuuki Aoi, with 12 votes
Surprisingly, Umaru managed to surprise someone. I don't really understand this one either.
Charlotte manages to disappoint in every possible way.
Even though it didn't win in its own season, Hibike! Euphonium manages to make it to nationals with OSTOTY.
Maybe it was shit or maybe we've just forgotten it, but Winter didn't produce a single show to win a yearly title.
The important announcements are about to start, but first let's put things in perspective by letting you know just what shows /a/ was watching.
Most watched shows:
1 - One Punch Man, with 209 viewers, constituting 70.13% of voters
2 - Death Parade, with 192 viewers, constituting 64.43% of voters
3 - Charlotte, with 161 viewers, constituting 54.03% of voters
4 - Hibike! Euphonium, with 149 viewers, constituting 50.00% of voters
4 - Aldnoah.Zero 2, with 149 viewers, constituting 50.00% of voters
6 - Himouto! Umaru-chan, with 144 viewers, constituting 48.32% of voters
7 - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 136 viewers, constituting 45.64% of voters
7 - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season, with 136 viewers, constituting 45.64% of voters
9 - Owarimonogatari, with 133 viewers, constituting 44.63% of voters
10 - Gakkou Gurashi, with 132 viewers, constituting 44.30% of voters
Most dropped shows:
1 - Comet Lucifer, which lost 58 viewers, constituting 19.46% of voters
2 - Denpa Kyoushi, which lost 54 viewers, constituting 18.12% of voters
3 - Absolute Duo, which lost 50 viewers, constituting 16.78% of voters
4 - Gangsta., which lost 49 viewers, constituting 16.44% of voters
5 - Koufuku Graffiti, which lost 48 viewers, constituting 16.11% of voters
6 - Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen'eki, which lost 44 viewers, constituting 14.77% of voters
7 - ClassroomCrisis, which lost 42 viewers, constituting 14.09% of voters
8 - God Eater, which lost 40 viewers, constituting 13.42% of voters
9 - Heavy Object, which lost 34 viewers, constituting 11.41% of voters
10 - Kantai Collection: KanColle and Jitsu wa Watashi wa, which each lost 33 viewers, constituting 11.07% of voters
It's no wonder /a/ can't come to a consensus on anything when only three shows managed to break 50% viewership.
Perhaps even more surprising is the mixture of liked and hated series in the top 10. They say popularity doesn't equal quality, and that's as true here as it is anywhere else.
Now for the most important part, finding out who is the most beloved character of 2015:
5 - Akaza Akari, Midorikawa Hana, Speeddraw Fremy, Koshigaya Komari, Yuigahama Yui, Kafuu Chino, Oshino Ougi, Iki Hiyori, and Oshino Shinobu, with 4 votes each
4 - Hestia from Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka?, with 5 votes
3 - Tohsaka Rin from Fate, with 6 votes
2 - Tomori Nao from Charlotte, with 7 votes
And the title of Best Girl 2015 belongs to:
Oumae Kumiko from Hibike! Euphonium, with 11 votes
Before we get to the best, it's time for the worst. /a/'s most hated shows of 2015:
5 - Chaos Dragon: Edgy Garbage and One Joke Man, with 15 votes each
4 - Absolute Shit, with 16 votes
3 - IRC! Umaru-chan, with 17 votes
2 - Charlotte, with 21 votes
And the Worst Anime 2015 Award goes to:
Aldnoah.Zero Fans 2, with 27 votes
Finally, let's begin the countdown for AOTY 2015.
5th place goes to:
Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 21 votes and 208 points
However, Death Parade takes 5th place on points, with 14 votes and 229 points
Owarimonogatari, with 21 votes and 295 points
Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 44 votes and 431 points
Hibike! Euphonium, with 46 votes and 444 points
You split the moe vote. You know what's coming.
And your 2015 AOTY, with 69 votes and 664 points, is:
One Punch Man
Congratulations to the winners.
It was a fun year and I look forward to doing it all over again with you faggots in 2016.
But before you start shitposting about the results, here are some alternative measures that address some of the more common complaints so that you can damage control even harder.
>but popular shows will obviously get more votes than hidden gems even if their quality isn't as good
This is what the AOTY - Weighted field is for. It takes the total number of votes a show received (filtered to those who also filled out the Completed field) and divides it by the percentage of people who gave it a shot (completed + dropped). This equalizes the votes as if each show had the same viewership.
That makes it a bit more fair, but it also introduces inaccuracies from the lower sample size (a lot of people didn't bother with the completed fields) and has a tendency to skew extremely low viewership shows to unrealistic numbers.
3 - Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus 2, with 1 vote and 2.01% viewership, totalling 50 weighted votes
3 - Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono: Spin-off Puru Purun Sharumu to Asobou, with 1 vote and 2.01% viewership, totalling 50 weighted votes
3 - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 21 votes and 28.19% viewership, totalling 50 weighted votes
2 - Hibike! Euphonium, with 46 votes and 54.70% viewership, totalling 53 weighted votes
1 - One Punch Man, with 62 votes and 74.49% viewership, totalling 62 weighted votes
So, while results end up a lot closer with this method, it doesn't unseat the really big titles.
I claimed her first so back off faggots
>but the poll is overrun by casuals whose votes shouldn't be counted
To account for this, I made new fields to filter out votes from people who didn't complete a certain number of shows per season. This should give results from only the serious fans without including all of those filthy casuals who definitely don't comprise a large portion of our board.
The main problem with this is sample size. Between the people who didn't fill out the completed field and those who didn't even watch more than 5 shows a season, we're down to 119 voters.
>5 shows per season
5 - Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku, with 6 votes
4 - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 7 votes
3 - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 9 votes
1 - Hibike! Euphonium, with 13 votes
1 - One Punch Man, with 13 votes
While OPM loses the most votes by far, it still manages to hold first place.
>10 shows per season
5 - Houkago no Pleiades and Death Parade, with 3 votes each
4 - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 4 votes
3 - One Punch Man, with 5 votes
2 - Hibike! Euphonium, with 6 votes
1 - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 7 votes
The first AOTY scoring method to unseat OPM and the last of these measurements to hold even a little value, I'm sure plenty of you will claim this as the definitive ranking.
This is definetly the /a/ vote, if you didn't watch at least ten shows you don't belong here
>15 shows per season
4 - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, Houkago no Pleiades, and Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, with 2 votes each
2 - Non Non Biyori Repeat, with 3 votes
2 - Hibike! Euphonium, with 3 votes
1 - One Punch Man, with 4 votes
And we're back to where we started.
>20 shows per season
2 - 11 other shows, with 1 vote each
1 - One Punch Man, with 4 votes
Now with a sample size too minuscule to even pretend it means anything.
>25 shows per season
2 - Yoru no Yatterman, with 1 vote
2 - Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, with 1 vote
1 - One Punch Man, with 2 votes
>30 shows per season
1 - Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, with 1 vote
Where did it go all wrong, /a/? Is this the end of this board?
> if you didn't watch at least ten shows you don't belong here
Maybe he has no business voting, but there's no reason to have an arbitrary amount of shows one must watch before they're deemed worthy of being here.
I didn't say that and I sure as hell didn't vote for OPM, but if you honestly think there are ten shows worth watching in any of this year's seasons then that's pretty fucked up.
It opened last Monday night because that's when the last couple 1-cour fall shows had their last episode.
It stayed open for about 2 days because I needed time to finish building the sheet and nobody was voting after the thread died anyway.
So basically KyoAni found a way into our hearts again?
Sure you have kid
>>almost every show the whole year was a complete waste of time
>not that I watched more than 3 of them
Yeah I have a disease where I actually like anime
Hello meme garbage eating crossboarder
You should have posted the poll every three or four days for two week so people who weren't able to get on /a/ at the time could have voted.
It wasn't my case though. The poll had so many questions that I kind of got bored and ended up not finishing.
Then why are most of the threads full of people getting mad at/u/?
This is the truth behind the vote, don't know why someone actually competent didn't make one this year
Nice wrong opinion, lad. Here's your (You)
it was a decent year outside of TV because of the expo, but yeah I agree
>I actually like anime
no other fandom has this mentality
fans of music or film or literature don't parade themselves around as people who can consume the most shit
why is this a thing for anime?
Winter was the only terrible season, anyone with enough time to kill and broad enough tastes could've easily watched 10 or more shows in any other season this year. Of course, if you don't like anime that much it will seem absurd, and if you mostly come here to shitposting and memes which is usually the case you won't have interest in unpopular shows anyway.
AotS/AotY threads always are.
>watching some popular vidya streamer
>"Hey guys, you should check out One Punch Man its awesome!"
Sure they do, do you really think people only reading best sellers and highschool required literature get taken seriously? Drop by /lit/ once in a while
Too many crossboarders
Fucking hell. Also if only 69 people voted for something out of 467 with google accounts, how is that representative of the giant number that occupy this board. More people voted on a seasonal vote or a best girl vote for fucks sake.
Just trying to say how silly these AOTY threads are. Pretty much just a silly excuse to shitpost.
>>watching some popular vidya streamer
>watching some popular vidya streamer
>for two week
The new season would have started by then and people who only browse /a/ every week or two are less likely to represent /a/'s opinion than people who are here every day.
>Shirobako is no where on this list
>One Meme Man AKA Normie bait the anime wins top awards
you people disgust me
People who are here everyday sometimes can't be here for a few days, especially at the end of the year. And there's nothing wrong with letting the new season start, in fact it might discourage memeposters who are turning their attention to it.
>>Best Scene - Death Parade, with 13 votes
>>ED starts playing during the conclusion of the episode 8 & 9 arc
>literally the scene that made me drop it
That was the edgiest scene I've seen in years.
The Didn't Quite Cut It Award for most honorable mentions:
Charlotte and Etotama, with 4 mentions each
Not what I meant, this tiny, google account poll is a fucking joke
I was just chevking interest, I'd be interested in seeing some actual results but no poll is fine too
The Hipster Award for the show with the lowest viewership to get an AOTY vote:
Hana to Alice Satsujin Jiken, with 2 viewers (0.67%) and 1 AOTY vote
The It's Not My Favorite, But... Award for most AOTY points by a show without a single actual AOTY vote:
Wakaba＊Girl, with 0 votes and 67 points
Every fucking poll is a joke. A bad one, at that. If you're so bored that you literally have to participate in that shit, it really just means that you don't even want to watch anime.
I dunno. I watched 5 shows in Winter, some 18 in Spring, about 6 over Summer and another 6 for Fall. Not everyone watched a lot of shit every season, and sometimes we'll watch half of what's airing.
The Universally Loved Award for most AOTY votes to a show with no negative votes:
Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??, with 21 AOTY, 0 WAOTY, and 0 DOTY votes
The Controversial Award for love it or hate it:
Himouto! Umaru-chan, with 14 AOTY and 17 WAOTY votes
The Seasonal Waifu Award for most Girl of the Season votes to a girl with 0 Girl of the Year votes:
Sakurada Akane from Joukamachi no Dandelion, with 6 Girl of the Season votes and 0 Girl of the Year votes
The What Was Her Name Again? Award for being unfairly disadvantaged due to having four different names:
Speeddraw Fremy/Speedraw Flamie/Speedraw Flammie/Speedraw Fremie
Ohmuro Sakurako/Omuro Sakurako/Oomoro Sakurako/Oomuro Sakurako
Toshino Kyouko/Toshinou Kyouko/Toushino Kyoko/Toushino Kyouko
The I Survived Award for sticking with it to the end:
Denpa Kyoushi, with 54 (18.12%) dropped and 30 (10.07%) completed
The Contrarian Award for liking it just because everyone else hates it:
Absolute Duo, with 2 AOTY and 16 WAOTY votes
The Patrician Award for the show with the most AOTY votes to not lose any when filtered by >5 shows watched:
Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes TD, with 2 votes, which it also keeps with a >10 filter.
>Not having a Google Account
I bet you use cock mail
Because I'm an incompetent fuck who just copied all the shows into a list instead of sorting them out.
In hindsight TV series, movies, shorts, and OVA/specials should have been sorted into separate categories as they aren't really comparable.
Akagami was really good.
Not my AOTY, but in my top 5 for sure. Maybe top 3.
Pretty interesting to see that the only person who watched more than 30 shows per season voted it as AOTY.
Shitposting is what I do when not watching anime
>Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus: 3.69%
>Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus 2: 2.01%
>Dio, Genos, Saitama, Slaine, Tachibana Makoto, Izaya, Joseph, Zack, Koizumi Itsuki, Jyuushimatsu, Mikaela, Jesus Christ, Hacka Doll #3
Some people just want to watch the world burn
You're blind, anon. That's an exclamation mark, not a one.
I don't see an AOTY poll on other boards that states OPM won, only on this one, /v/. Why don't you go and ask your friends?
>All these entry with OPM as AOTY1 and the rest leave blank
I smell spam
>the title returns to OPM at 15+ shows
>OP makes a super-autistic google doc that takes a day to fill out and requires a jewgle account
>Everyone is surprised the only people that could be bothered to fill it out are normalfags, casuals, and /v/ermin that didn't even know the non-localized titles of the anime listed in the doc
>NEETs putting in effort to fill out a survey
>NEETS with google accounts
It's probably just OPMfags being lazy fucks, and those entries aren't counted for the alternate measurements anyway.
It had 476 votes, but only ~60% of them filled out the completed field so those numbers have to make do with a lower sample size. Ideally, they'll match up, but it's probably true that some shows, especially the really popular ones, will have more people unwilling to invest the time needed to fill out the whole thing.
This actually got me curious, so I tallied how many people voted for a show that didn't fill out the completed winter field. OPM had 23 and NNB had 22, so it would actually be NNB that had the highest percentage of lazy votes.
I'm glad Rolling Girls got some recognition. What about Ninja Slayer though?
It's at least 7 people's AOTY, which is the same as Rolling Girls.
Okay guys, I've taken in all your feedback, and I see the problem. I will be using a new format for 2016's poll. Happy?
For this year's poll, you will have to shave, shower, and apply deodorant before casting your vote. No Google account required
>>Shirobako is no where on this list
>First episode air date: Oct 9, 2014
>Toshino Kyouko/Toshinou Kyouko/Toushino Kyoko/Toushino Kyouko
I've added them to the sheet.
WAOTY - Weighted
5 - Peeping Life TV: Season 1??, 37 votes
4 - Denpa Kyoushi, 39 votes
3 - Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen'eki, 44 votes
2 - High Speed!: Free! Starting Days, 60 votes
1 - Vampire Holmes, 75 votes
WAOTY - >5 shows per season watched
5 - Dungeon ni Deai, Lance N' Masques, Charlotte, and Absolute Duo, 4 votes each
4 - Tokyo Ghoul A, 5 votes
3 - Denpa Kyoushi, 8 votes
2 - Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen'eki, 9 votes
1 - Aldnoah.Zero 2, 10 votes
>High Speed!: Free! Starting Days, 60 votes
Unless you watched it in Nippon theaters, there's no way people watched it.
Then again, its not like its surprising that people actually haven't watched the series on that list.
Not with people who watched CL being a fraction of those who finished A/zzz
But there was poll like this last year and there was no problem. It's better than shit like proxyxpoll.
OP, continue you good job next year too, but make voting time at least week long so number of votes would be bigger than 1k
>check the complete data sheet
>think "wow, that guy has fucking nice taste" at some point
>mfw it's me
>Star Mu (High School Star Musical) - In the last episode when they all say "See you next year" but you know you won't because this shit flopped hard and only a miracle will be able to give me and the others two anons who watched it until the end a second season.
Fucking anon, you didn't have to remind me. I'm crying again.
Doesn't Starmyu currently have like over 8k sales, making it the best volume 1 original anime show of 2015?
It is assumed that the following volumes will drop very hard, but for now, it actually has nice numbers.
5 people watched it (1.68%) and 1 voted it WAOTY. That's the flaw with doing it this way, shows with 1 vote and low viewership get boosted up to the top too easily.
Then again, if 500 /a/nons had watched it instead of 5, it probably would've ranked pretty high.
Vampire Holmes and Peeping Life are in the same boat.
It does. >>135641263 is wrong.

Definitely not a flop
WAOTS - Winter
>THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls
Best Scene - Summer
>THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls 2nd Season - the scene where Uzuki starts crying
Did you really watch the whole series just to see Uzuki suffer?
My only issue with Euphonium is that there is no way high school students play that well. I was in the best band of our state and we didn't sound even close to that. Maybe if it was an all-state band, or if there was a commune of musicians who trained all their kids at their respective instruments since birth.
I thought it would at least take surprise of the season for Summer, but fuck.
Apparently nobody watched this gem.
Sorry it wasn't edgy enough for you.
And it's a shame, because it's one of the few that really doesn't feel much like a shoujo series. There's no major drama or people competing over the heroine. It's cute and there's romance but that's where the similarities end.
In other words, Hibike and NNB are /a/'s actual AOTY. Seems fine and expected.
OP, I've missed every single one of the voting threads (since I hope and assume there have been multiple). When do you start them and how many and how long to you have them for? The sample size is pretty small, so I'm just worried you didn't have all that many threads.
Great initiative anyway.
It sure is convenient to dismiss opinions just by labeling them.
You guys spend too much time in your general threads, poke your head out every once in a while and you'll see the whole board isn't a haven just for your taste.
It was just one thread, but it was up for a couple days. I posted it late Monday night and it died sometime Wednesday evening.
I wanted to avoid spamming the board with it like the tripfag who never delivered did with his back to back threads since meta threads tend to attract shitposting and are toeing the line between what is and isn't allowed.
Also, for some retarded reason I thought posting results on New Year's was a good idea and rushed things to meet that deadline.
If I do it again, I'll leave it open longer and pick better release times, amongst other things.
Only retarded shit posters use terms like "moeshit" and the like. You don't see me running around calling anyone who likes shounen a shounenfag or anything, and anyone who does is a retarded shitposter too. Some people like more than one thing family.
>be certain a person doesn't submit twice
As if making multiple accounts was hard.
You can make a lengthy and bothersome enough voting process to discourage people from voting more than once and have countermeasures against spamming scripts, like captcha and jumbling the order the questions are made each time. But I don't think you can completely deter someone from voting multiple times if they really want to and have the time.
Always nice to learn from your mistakes.
Only one thread definitely doesn't seem like enough, even if it was up for multiple days. You should make the first thread on the day that most series have finished, and then create a thread once or twice a week until a day or two before the new season starts, (like you did with this thread).
I work as a software tester for a company that makes online surveys with advanced reporting etc. I could easily make a survey that was long enough and randomized with full anonymity and automated real-time result charts.
OP, if you're interested.
Those terms were invented here, bud. People who think "cute girls doing cute things" is a praiseworthy premise for a show are delusional and deserve to be ridiculed.
Your new is showing.
>create a thread once or twice a week until a day or two before the new season starts
There's really only a week between when the last show ends and the first new one begins, but I agree that two or three threads spaced a day or two apart is the way to go. The poll itself doesn't really cut into that time since it and the formulas can be done in advance, but processing the text inputs does take some work that can only be done after the poll closes.
What are you asking me for? If you can do it better and you want to do it, then do it.
I'd love to have a poll that doesn't require accounts, I just hate bots spamming shit more.
Well, it's fairly complex software. Also, in the spirit of anonymity, I don't want to share my workplace unless it's gonna be put to use.
Do you have an email or some way of contacting you privately?
Well, I don't know much programming. Our platform is online and is used commercially world-wide, and has a lot of functionality.
The biggest problem is that the current official release's trial users are only active for 30 days and can only have 30 respondents. And I doubt anybody is interested in buying a subscription for more than 1000 eurobucks. But since I work there, I might be able to figure something out (like using one of our "paid" test accounts).
Should be said I can't promise anything though, so I'd rather be in correspondence with someone while figuring out my possibilities.
Not redo, no. I was thinking future polls.
Also, we're working on a huge ass update that has recreated the entire system from the bottom, and we're nearing the finish - and most importantly trial users currently don't have a limit to number of respondents. So unless they change that, once we release the update (which is only a couple months off probably) I could even do it legally.
That was what I was thinking.
But again, I can't strictly promise anything. If all goes well, I think I should be able to at least do a test poll in april for winter season. Also to get an idea of how malicious people are with repeatedly filling it out. I can't put any sort of "only-one-answer-per-person" wall up (without personally inviting people via email) other than making the poll long and tedious enough.
>Top 5 AOTY basically dominated by /a/ staple genre CGDCT except no.1
>still bitching and moaning how crossboarder ruin the poll.
why cant you faggot just admit it OPM is legit patrician show deserving its spot on /a/?
>We took a survey of 476 /a/nons to determine /a/'s Official™ and Objective™ AOTY 2015.
You can't be serious. Regardless of the poll results, the opinions of 500> voters does not in any way represent the entirety of the board.
Are you seriously implying a significant portion of /a/ is your particular brand of tinfoil hat wearing crazy?
500 isn't shit, 50 is shit. And that is what people are basing the NNB win on for >10 a season.
>NNBfags assmad that OPM is genuine quality
>I can't put any sort of "only-one-answer-per-person" wall up (without personally inviting people via email) other than making the poll long and tedious enough
Then what's the benefit? You can do the same thing in Google without having to worry about dealing with corporate software that doesn't exist yet.
Why the fuck is this a thing, who the fuck cares about the 'best' of the year. We've never had this before and there's no reason to start now.
This is literally reddit-tier posting, fuck off.
>based on not even 500 votes
>NNB is AOTY, we decided it in January!
One /g/-tier anon is very butthurt about it requiring an account to vote and some others would prefer if there were a better way to prevent spam. You can turn that requirement off in the poll, but doing so opens it up to spam.
Randomizing and making a shitton of fields required is also possible, but that means even fewer voters and more susceptibility to vote spamming.
1. /a/ likes an action manga (for YEARS, with healthy threads)
2. An anime adaptation is announced.
3. /a/ loves it
4. The anime adaptation is hugely popular with normies
5. /a/ hates it
See: Terraformers, Shingeki no Kyojin, Shougeki no Souma.
I know there's more because this happens so fucking often
Stop going on about how 500 is too small. You've obviously never taken a statistics class in your life. 1000 responses, if truly random, can accurately reflect the entire United States. The problem with this poll is in the obvious biases in the method and timing. I only saw one thread for the poll beforehand and apparently this was posted on /v/ several times, which is not the sample population. Furthermore, the requirement of a Google count may inflate some responses, ie. those who have an account may watch anime more accessible to the West, thus making the proportion of people voting some anime as AOTY appear greater than the true value. There are also so lazy and stupid decisions made by OP that are somewhat inexplicable, like not combining the various spellings of different character names. Also, in the name of determining AOTY, some may have seen the poll as too long because of all the extra questions, giving a nasty non-response bias. At the end of the day, these polls will always have some bias because of their voluntary response nature, but a true random poll is impossible to do. However, the errors made here go beyond the acceptable threshold even given the circumstances.
Alongside those retards are reasonable people who can accept those results even though they aren't their preference.
And then there's platinum mad faggots like you.
NNBfags are mad that they couldn't rig the poll to their advantage against the OPMfags.
Now the rest of /a/ gets to see them fling shit at each another. It's kinda hilarious. Like watching two dumb monkeys fight about who can suck dicks more.
Also thanks for all the effort OP, you did a great job.
3rd against in a vote that got spread to /v/. I'm impressed that it even got that with all the crossboard votes. But whatever let's you sleep at night senpai.
You think I give a shit about what polls say? I don't care whether they agree with my tastes or not, but this sort of orchestrated account-linked shit isn't in /a/'s history. This is ridiculously similar to what other anime sites spam to get lists out.
You seem to confuse a recurring thread with /a/ loving something. /a/ shows backlash to "popular" shows that blow up when they start flooding the board with newfags and shit. It's not people on /a/ turning about-face on what they like to be hipsters. It's people calling out shitty behaviour for something they once ignored or tolerated, obviously with plenty of baiting, trolling and false-flagging thrown in. Pretty much the entire internet loved Code Geass as it was airing, and there was no backlash on /a/ both because it was a different time and because there was no preexisting community to tumorize.
That and the sheer length of it. The other one was posted non-stop for about a week and only required typing a few names in and it got ~1200 votes with the same account requirement.
>Moefags lack even the motivation to create throwaway accounts for a poll
>still blame anything and everything (especially /v/ crossboarders, which is essentially a fucking buzzword at this point) to excuse thier laziness
Can't even be arsed to find a better picture
What are some alternatives for this kind of stuff anyway? The Google account requirement does prevent spam, but it also makes it impossible for others without it to vote.
Just make a bunch of required questions and hope for the best?
So why the salt? Why are so many mad if only "cancer" would care, why would you even post. Claiming apathy would imply you wouldn't even care enough to enter the thread, unless you are here for the salt? (which i could understand)
> Pretty much the entire internet loved Code Geass as it was airing, and there was no backlash on /a/ both because it was a different time and because there was no preexisting community to tumorize.
Code Geass was an anime original, and has nothing to do with your argument. newfags didn't attach to Code Geass until much later - only with the advent of crunchyroll and LQ streams did newfags start watching currently airing anime. DEEN's UBW aired not a year later, and /a/ turned on Fate, despite the fact people waited on VN translations like nothing before.
And its not just a "backlash", when SnK anime aired there was a huge difference in thread quality despite the fact, SnK funposting was in full effect (remember when Frodo threads and the Sasha potato scene were posted near daily?), for almost a year before the anime aired.
I wouldn't say shit, you're not the problem. It was an alright show, i don't know why people like >>135650376
I can see why the NNB people are a bit mad, OPM was a good show, but the fucking fanbase was absolute trash, it's like having someone say "ahahaha! My Korean puppet show is better than yours ha suck it! It's a better anime" But what am i saying, it would have been the same if NNB won. You just can't win with the shitposters.
He posted the data in the announcement thread, but he didn't process it and obviously never will. And since it was done with text fields and people call shows by different names, you'd have to tally the votes manually.
To counteract bots, you could generate random HTML IDs for each form element. To prevent individual users from submitting the form multiple times, I guess you'd set a cookie, restrict by IP, and just have a lot of required questions. There's not much more you can do without doing some sort of account verification.
Would this be the fourth stage of grief or the tail end of the third?
You guys need to chill out. This thread is open season for trolls.
The problem is that the NNB-fanbase contains some genuinely autistic morons who don't funpost, they really want NNBR to be the aoty-2015 so that they can rub it in everyone's face.
Just keep pretending that NNBR is the best aoty of 2015.
We all know that it's Euphonium anyway.
>apparently this was posted on /v/ several times
You can't actually believe this.
Also, the not combining various spellings only impacts that one field, not the overall poll, and the data is still there if you want to count it up and find the real winner.
Hey, Death Parade actually deserved its spot. /a/ just got hung up on the first episode and proclaimed it SJW shit.
NNBRfags spammed every poll this year except this one
and look at the result
Suck shit NNBRfags, you are absolute cancer. Euphonium was the superior moe experience this year and One Punch Man managed to outdo it with brilliant animation, music, seiyuu work and an all around fantastic adaption.
We moefags could have won if we didn't divide ourselves between NNB and Eupho
Eupho deserved it more anyway. Now Normies have the AOTY
>so many people were actually disappointed in Charlotte
You fags should have adjusted your expectations significantly knowing how well Maeda handled Angel Beats.
>/a/ just got hung up on the first episode and proclaimed it SJW shit.
You must have really poor memory, guy. The first episode and the resulting shitstorm was the only good part of death parade. It was shit from the second episode onwards, when it took all the ambiguity away and just started explaining everything is bland exposition dumps and steered clear of anything interesting, contentious or controversial from that point onward.
It was a premature ejaculator, which is why the series as a whole was utter mediocrity and wasted potential.
thanks for unveiling the truth faggot. this is it people this is the reason why the thread is still alive and controversial. faggottard just butthurt over OPM winning it nothing more. dont give me that sample size s too small or googledrone excuse or whatever,it wouldnt been a discussion if other CGDCT won it anyway.
>Euphonium was better liked than NNBR?
>Better blame /v/
Fuck off, even if OPM wasn't in the top 5 at all, we both know you'd be screaming just because NNBR wasn't #1.
But please keep responding with ad-hominim, strawmanning and special-pleading.
I think some people missed Angel Beats in the OP/ED section. It's kind of interesting that an OP from 2011 had a crack at it, especially one that was so good, despite what the show turned out as. I think that it had a good case for OSTOTY as well.
I figured Anger was them calling everyone crossboarders and OP a faggot. Then Bargaining was them claiming the poll was biased and too small of a sample.
Now they're saying polls are pointless, which is kind of nihilistic so I figured Depression?
Do you realize the irony of of you complaining about ad-homenim here? Keep attackinf imaginary fanboys and ignoring the fact that this poll is a fucking joke regardless of who won
Objectively speaking only crossboarders and newfags think OPM is worthwhile outside of it's animation. The comedy just dreadful, the parody aspects are lazy and simplistic and the plot is shit
I'd say back to >>>/v/ if it wasn't a buzzword.
I didn't watch much at all this year.
But I did watch and like Non Non.
Little anime girls from NNB who would totally watch the anime OPM.
Thus, proof that the 2Dworld is superior to the inferior 3Dworld, where there is only strife and intolerance.
Fuck your shitty poll, AOTY 2015 was already decided by the secret committee of true taste.
Hotarun likes the girly stuff like Precure. Renge might like OPM.
I had tons of fun with summer shows. I'm pretty happy with 2015.
So much QUALITY that it wasn't even funny.
I considered dropping a few times, but kept giving it the benefit of the doubt, for which it would reward me with a decently amusing arc, before turning to crap again. Then the final arc went full retard, but I'd already sat through most of its shit, so I figured 'I might as well finish.'
I can agree with these results. The best part is that if you claim that /v/ took over, and dethrone OPM, Hibike sits on top, which is even better to me.
>asshole MC using his shitty power inventively to get ahead in life
>generic SoL school club anime with hunting down weekly power users
>depressed, delinquent MC drowns his sorrow in fast food and arcades, which obviously leads to stabbing gang members and doing drugs
>secret organization fighting government sponsored scientist that kidnap children needs MCs help
>MCs power wasn't useless and he's actually the strongest
>actual terrorists attack and people fight for their lives
>MC leaves to tour the world and beat everyone in a fight
>all powerful MC gets beaten by a crossbow, saved by courage, and loses all of his memories
It was trainwreck of the year. Every time you thought it was doing something, it went in a completely different direction, but never the right one.
