Pretty boy looks and is kind of decent when allowed to play anything other than the screamy wishy washy boy. There is something that Kyoani does that other studios simply doesn't even come close to, and that's character animation. Even the Kyoani shows I dislike have character animation far superior than my favorite non-Kyoani shows.

Their characters never feel flat and always have a sense of scale compared to the world around them. They feel like actual people and not just simple 2D characters we are used to seeing.
Its something I really value in my anime.
In addition to that, we have their god-tier character design.

There is also the fact that all of their directors are competent. A director known for its comedy is directing this comedy series, and it has the Kyoani-tier character animation. Kyoani also always improves on the source material. That's how we know its going to be good.

The whole Kyoani masterpiece thing has always been kind of a self fulfilling prophecy for their fans anyway. If you act like everything they do is an unmitigated masterpiece top to bottom every single time regardless of what gets presented of course it's always going to be in your own little world. It's also probably a large part of the reason why the studios output has stayed so utterly stagnant and samey for such a long time now. Really I can't think of any other studio that has been doing pretty much the exact same kind of LN School Romantic Comedy with glitzy visuals show for what will pretty much be a decade now besides Kyoani. Even P.A Works breaks up the whole coming of age melodrama in a seaside town story once in a while to put out a Shirobako or Eccentric Family.
