I swear the watch makes this whole scene
I want a watch exactly like that
I actually just randomly marathoned this over the past 2 days.
Kyoani has slowly become the best studio out there in regards to all around quality releases. The art was fucking gorgeous consistently throughout the entire 13 eps. It was layered and had consistent depth and detail. I used to hate the Kyoani 'moe' style, but lately they've really stepped up their game in terms of animation quality and also moved to a medium between moe and serious/artistic character designs. Their serious characters are rockin sexy.
Yeah I didn't get this. Reina straight up confessed she wanted sensei cock, but then the story consistently showed her being all yuri with Kumiko. The bit before the solo competition felt a bit forced though, came outta nowhere.
DESU, I'm not personally into anime/scripts where a 'hobby/profession' is focused on in a typicaly japanese obsessive way. I only picked it up because I heard there was Yuri shit, which intrigued me. But I was pleasantly surprised at the very high production quality of this show. My artfag senses were tickled in a good way. The story itself was written well too... the 14th ep (OVA) is sort of a must watch to fill in the gaps for the drama scenes.
>Kyoani has slowly become the best studio out there in regards to all around quality releases.
Hibike! was the best looking release KyoAni has done since Hyouka, which was released 2012. I've been of the opinion that ever since K-On! money ran out, it had been down hill from there. Chuu2 and Tamako were trash visually.
Will cactus-kun return in season two?
You're not real. For all I know you could be a long abandoned Soviet AI program languishing in some forgotten Siberian shit hole since the fall of the USSR.
This show has the worst character designs since the Key days, coincidentally also directed by Ishihara. The guy has appalling taste in art styles. He apparently requested the character designs in the Key shows match the VNs as closely as possible, so it's impossible to deny how poor his aesthetic sense is. He wanted all the asses to be fat in chu-2, which you may like or dislike depending on whether you're black or Irish.
Hibike looks bad because he wanted everyone to look shiny and greasy, even while they're standing in dim lighting because the cheek pimples/hair gloss halo is baked in. He used those instagram filters more hamfisted than either Takemoto or Yamada.
Still, it's the best show they've made since K-ON.
I liked the art style for the most part but I wish the girl's cheeks weren't pink for the whole show
Hibike had really great character designs all around
We need more Taki-sensei in Tuxedo and Reina undressing him with her eyes.
The only nice things I can say about it are the lubricated waifus bring back some of the feeling of '80s shading except without any consideration given to light sources, and that Asuka is physically perfect.
Are you surprised that kyoani takes cues from cheap ecchi shit in their character designs? Intense sexual pandering with high production values is the main selling point of almost all their shows
I just watched the first four episodes. It's really nice. It's the first kyoani I really like besides FMP.
It has the best hairs.
Now that you mention it, is ecchi where this overused blisters everywhere style started? There is something about it that makes me subconsciously associate it with fan service. Obviously it looks like they're covered in oil which is sexual, but I mean have ecchi shows been more prone to using it?
I hope Kyoani doesn't go down this path. Unless they're willing to go all the way, perhaps.
Why are daddy issues sluts the best?
That's cool, keep it casual. I like sluts.
So these two will become a pity side yuri couple when Kumiko will be made to like her male childhood friend in s2 like in novels?
Basically Chuuni2 with Shinka x Deko.
Don't you ever wonder how a beauty mark can draw so much attention to a character?
I came onto this thread and expected to see a lot of hate for the show, but my god, there's a fanbase?! I was recommended this show by a friend because I played Baritone in highschool, Believe me, I tried to give this show a chance. It was so fucking boring. It was terrible. The characters were generic garbage, I physically cringed about 3 times in the first episode, and I though everyone else felt the same way. Guess flies swarm to shit no matter what kind it is, whether it be a K-on clone or K-on
"Ecchi" in the way you're using it isn't a real concept in the first place, so it's pointless to ask whether that's where it started. It's just something that became a trend in the bishoujo aesthetic (which KyoAni definitely subscribes to) and once the technology and knowledge became available to add it in animation affordably, it gained traction there too (even before that attempts at depicting rosy cheeks are hardly anything new). Obviously if a lot of skin is shown there are more places where it can be applied.
I'm having trouble seeing how people perceive these as blisters, though. Is the skin around your elbows not redder than the skin around it?
> I went into a thread thinking people wanted to talk about a show they didnt enjoy
>not thinking they went into a thread wanting to talk about a show they enjoyed
How can someone be born so retarded
>I'm having trouble seeing how people perceive these as blisters, though.
It's not the redness alone, it's the white dot in the center that's supposed to be glare but because skin is non-reflective it looks like a pimple/blister. And my elbows aren't redder, personally. My palms are but I've never seen an anime with darker palms.
My first impression on K-on was shit. I play guitar for 20 years and I was triggered on how inaccurate the show was to reality; on how bands actually works, and thought the show was garbage. But I gave a second chance and I realize that K-on is the best anime that ever made. It takes time to appreciate the show. And it same goes to hibike. Don't be a pleb, and start watching Hibike again
>how inaccurate the show was to reality
It is accurate. You just don't have any friends.
Which character(s) did you have biggest misconception about prior to the anime airing?
Not really, they're just friends.
And Kumiko did already have some feelings for Shuuichi in season one.
>no mention of best girl Hazuki anywhere
>not even a picture
Let me fix that.
I don't want to see her suffer anymore. Being rejected by someone you love is the the worst feeling
That's my man.
>no Midori hugs for you. Ever.
That's a Timex brand. Weekend series.
There are so many models like this in the series.
Search for Timex (weekend) in amazon.com and amazon.co.jp
>yfw shu1's role is just to be a plot tool and convey shit to Kumiko since he's such a shitty character
what was the purpose of him being a childhood friend of aoi again?
>not harassing her junior even though she try her best and not elected during the audition
>still treating ribbon-chan as a friend even though she is such a bitch towards her on early episode
>not meddling in that audition drama
>very understanding towards her juniors
Do Japanese kids bump fists or is it some random kakkoii forced gesture intended to create a moment, like the finger slide on the face or Kyon tickling Haruhi's face? Was either thing in the novel?
I marathoned the entire thing yesterday, had avoided the threads that time. Good Lord, the yuri(baiting) parts had me giggling like a retard when I imagined the shit storm the mountain episode would have caused.
How butthurt were the yurifags afterwards?
>Do Japanese kids bump fists
In all my time around Japanese kids, I don't believe I've ever bumped fists with them, but I imagine they might do it.
>Was either thing in the novel?
No. The finger slide was a cheek poke, and the fist bump was them putting their hands together. I don't remember if they did something as lewd as actually hold hands.
Yurifags were very pleased that they won. Hetfags were pretty butthurt though.
Legit question. Why do people like Asuka? She's an actual two faced bitch, mistaking that for "she doesn't care about drama" is missing the point when she really only cared about her reputation as evident by the whole student prez ordeal and staying neutral. Come on even Shu1 called her out on this shit, that she has a facade.
Then her fake personality is aligned with the "xD I'm so random" tumblr tier of humor it's fucking grating to watch.
In the early episodes she seems like the best senpai among others. The most welcoming and she is pretty and have nice body. A lot of people probably starting to like her during that time.
>So like a high five?
No, like putting their hands together and keeping them together for a while. I think there was a bit about feeling each other's warmth, too. I don't know, what do you want for me, I'd have to read the scene again.
It's completely understandable to like a character even if they're unlikable. Just like how it's easy to dislike a character who's generally nice and likable. It's about how their personalities and the characters themselves affect the story, not how they would affect you if you actually knew them.
A huge portion of /a/'s population bases their opinion of a character on the things that they do rather than how entertaining or interesting they are. Luckily this isn't the case with Asuka.
God damn it Anon, now you've made me go back and read the damn thing.
I was a little wrong. They interlock their fingertips and keep them there for a while. Also, Kumiko was the one who initiated contact. Huh. Forgot about that.
>Please go watch Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!
>It all started with that
Made me laugh. Have some rare Midori.
She will never date him anyway, it's just childish crush which will pass with time when she will finish high school.
And Taki is too decent guy to date mentally challenged student.
Out of curiosity did this get any resolution in the novel version?
She's never giving up on him. Hers is not a simple crush, it's true love that makes her do autistic things and not care about anyone but him.
>Out of curiosity did this get any resolution in the novel version?
You're quite new.
Why did she have sex with Kumiko then?
>Some people do grow out of their autism, anon.
Reina won't grow out of her love for Taki. It literally is 90% of her character.
Anyways, Taki didn't actually reject her, nor did he accept her either. He gave her enough hope to make her not want to give up on him though. So who knows? maybe he'll go for it when she's legal.
More like Reina will find even more mature and serious guy at university and will then go after him instead.
Her love is the typical puppy first love, so no, I can't really take it seriously.
>It literally is 90% of her character.
No anon, her character is being a self-righteous autist who thinks she's better than everyone around her. Liking Taki is a consequence of that.
Also, if Taki doesn't reject her outright, that is out of character for him. He's not the kind of person who will entertain a young girl's fantasies.
>More like Reina will find even more mature and serious guy at university and will then go after him instead.
Difficult to do when all she has in her head is Taki's D and trumpets.
She has no trouble distancing herself from people. Hell, I'd even go as far as saying she enjoys her solitude. So she wouldn't long for social contact as long as she has a goal in her mind.
Seriously, the only person who can affect Reina's mood greatly is Taki.
>Her love is the typical puppy first love, so no, I can't really take it seriously.
Not at all. You don't exchange schools when you know it might affect your music career just because of your "puppy love". Reina's big resolution is her love confession for crying out loud.
She's aware of the pros and the cons, and even after her love for him is revealed she doesn't give up. She understands full well what it means, and she'll still go after that.
And yes, Reina is all about Taki in the novels. Literally.
Taki, Taki, Taki.
What you've posted in that image is exactly how I would expect a teenage girl with a crush on her teacher to react to that answer. If she were actually serious about him she would ask for a straight answer instead of running off like a child, happy that she was able to confess at all.
> If she were actually serious about him she would ask for a straight answer instead of running off like a child, happy that she was able to confess at all.
Reina does confirm Kumiko after that confession that she's not giving up on Taki though and something along the lines that she will grow for him.
Anyways, Reina is going overseas to study music. She's already studying English to do so.
We all know what happens when the girl goes overseas and comes back as an adult.
It's painfully obvious.
Reina and Taki will be endgame.
Exactly, Taki see her just like any female student he teaches, not like a candidate to date to replace his dead wife.
Seeing that spoiler Reina reaction is exactly of a girl with puppy love for a teacher, her abandoning better school just to follow this one-sided crush pretty much shows why it's childish and with zero hope for the future.
Of course Reina can catchTaki drunk or in low point in life where he will want to score her, so maybe thats her only chance for shotgun wedding.
>We all know what happens when the girl goes overseas and comes back as an adult.
They both meet other people in the several years they are apart? Do you really think Reina will continue to hold Taki on a pedestal among college professors, virtuosi, and proper members of symphonic orchestras? Whose to say she'll even come back? There are far more opportunities for symphonic musicians in America than their are in Japan.
The best for suffering and smiling.
Because she couldn't be a good buchou, she wanted to be.
>implying she doesn't look gorgeous all the time.
Just finished watching this today and I loved it, my heart fucking melted everytime Kumiko made an adorable face and the yuribait scenes, I'm glad this was the first moeblob show that I chose to watch
Still only a 5/10 at best though, sorry /a/
Here's another rare Sapphire
Kumiko seems very different when we're not viewing things from her perspective.
Just a little pre-competition confidence booster.
It was still pretty obvious during the rest of the show, it wasn't uncommon for her to just go into a totally unrelated thought monologue despite being around others. The OVA was still interesting for that though.
The chick hanging out the window all the time with the lazy eyes. I wanted to pound her against that window, she was actually really hot with her cool and laid back attitude. She was also quite sexual in a way.
I love how Kyoani shows give a life to each of their background characters.
No one else ever stood a chance.
except almost asuka.
Buchou. I just want to cuddle with her and tell her everything will be okay.
Not-Seo a cute
I FOUND ANOTHER ONE.
It was quite rare. Please handle it with care. Ask me if you want to share.
Mind if I save your rare Kumiko anon?
Mein gott, those tits.
Why are daddy issues always sluts?
Outgoing personality to match. At least superficially.
No, this can't be happening. I'm only now noticing that strand of hair in front of Asuka's face never moves. It's always between her eyes. That means she isn't entirely physically perfect thanks to 1 strand of dumb anime hair.
>joined tennis club in the junior high so most probably have pretty nice body compared to those bandgeeks who more of indoor person and eating junkfood most of the time
>looks cute with or without hair clip
>I actually fuck girls
KyoAni still pulling back.
I really don't see how you interpreted it like that. She's had a boyfriend prior but that sentence still tacitly makes her pure if you wish her so.
Natsuki is cute!
It's funny because they're not actually gay. Though they have top banter and you'll see a lot more of them in season two and three if that ever happens. In fact they step up to be important characters.
Yuuko and Natsuki even become president and vice president respectively when the senpais graduate.
They put Ribbons in charge of the whole thing?
Alot of people here love this show. Generally the more people who come into threads who hate something are contrarian edgelords drawn to something popular so they can feel cool about themselves for hating it.
She's not, just some mad respect that seems very gay to our Western eyes.
Asuka was her only fair weather friend. How was Kaori fake? She's a good person.
Anyone have the unedited version of pic related?
I noticed that, too. >>135644287 may be true, but due to still being able to hear her monologuing, I never really noticed her detachement, since as a viewer we were still somewhat involved, though maybe I'm just not paying enough attention. It was really cool seeing a character we know mostly by sharing the same POV being interacted with from a different angle.
Also Kumiko was actually kind of cool and reminded me of the people you were seeking approval from due to them acting so 'distant' when I was younger. Like >>135652068 said, it felt real.
Though I know I just wrote that, but do we actually hear her monologuing? I might need to rewatch the show soon, it seems I forgot a lot of it already even though I really enjoyed it. Also I might be able to pay more attention to Kumiko's detached and cold personality.
She had inner monologues fairly often, though some of it was just to explain the ongoings of the club and the music competition. There's also some personal things though like in the first episode when she remarks she only chose the school for their uniforms.
>I thought that the yuribaiting was in the novel as well
There is "Liquid rescale" plugin for GIMP. To make a video you'd have to extract individual frames, distort them, and put it all back together. I guess.
Here you go.
