The Masked Heroes ace monster was suppose to be something special to Judai like Neos and Yubel are for his anime counterpart he finally got to at least show it in the SP1 duel chapter (Constrast Hero Chaos) But he never got the chance to draw the backstory for it. But he had messager of peace so necroface could not atk and he could not atk over it. I watched dubbed still because its what I grew up on and from what I can gather the sub doesn't offer a better experience at all, if not it seems worse (YES I tried but did you hear Yugi and Kaiba's voices? So retarded in the Japanese version and Joey just isn't as loveable).

With that said I didn't watch 5D's or Zexal so IDK how good or bad their dubs are but I heard they are bad series anyway so it doesn't really matter...

I think it's fair to not like Atem's, at least at the beginning of Duel Monsters. He does grow into it a bit by Battle City but it's definitely not the best at the beginning.
