>monkey suddenly gain OP super power out of nowhere
What the fuck is this bullshit?
It's a shitty power considering how she isn't even good at mahjong.
>didn't score positive in the semis
Why take her seriously again?
Achiga sucks. Shinohayu is infinitely better as a side story.
>Achiga-hen was a mistake they said
>Ritz would retcon everything for the main manga they said
>Shizu will get raped in the finals they said
Achiga haters blown the fuck out
Achiga will win the nationals
In a show filled with insane powers, Achiga crew is so lame.
At least it wasn't all bad. We did get one of the best couples in series from it.
If it makes the captain match more intense I'm all for it. God, the semis feels really lacking especially with Usuzan fumbling and Sawaya's excuse for not using her ability. This is as bad with what they did Eisui with the 'lol random gods'.
>out of nowhere
you didn't read or watch Achiga, right?
No, it shows that she can release her power at will now. She needed preparation matches ("gear 100") and nearly the whole semifinal match to release it before.
No, we posted about her in the last Saki thread.
When's Ritz gonna release all the Saki doujins she has stored?
Why do Ritz like to draw big boobs, while hers are small?
Also, all Usuzan hype confirmed for fear of Sawaya's rape power.
Daily reminder that Hayari could have accomplished something in her life if it wasn't for idolshit.
>fapping to doujin and fanart of series you haven't read
Is that what they call poetic justice?
Around Chapter 100 of the main manga/Volume 12.
>the semifinal of side B had around 50 chapters from 153+3=156 in total
Oh well, at least Mako had some development.
That reminds me that there are perhaps enough chapters for a new volume which means that we will get color pages either in the next chapter, 154, or in Chapter 155.
The new volume should be released in spring with bonuses and perhaps additional bonuses because of the 10 year anniversary of Saki.
Hmmm, let's see how this goes:
That's also what your mother said when explaining why you're retarded
>Complaining about asspulls
>mfw there are Hidabuisnessschoolfags in this thread right now
read the OP - it's a not tanoshii thread.
Poor Subara - nothing to Subara! remains.
She will get her own cover soon, right? Volume 16 or 17...
Remember when we thought that Sawaya was a Super Templar Christian Mahjong Overlord with CHRISTIAN LIONS as summons?
Then it turns out she was the biggest heretic all along.
Most people here don't even know what Mancoy is anymore.
Tanoshii has changed.
yes, because you know from the beginning she is strong.
Shizu is just some cunt who is mad Nodoka, who she abandoned, is a big shit on TV and is jealous and wants to play her but she never plays her because she's in the team match.
>backwater retard nobody from a spinoff
>the worst shitter in her team
>suddenly becomes some kind of fucking mahjong god in the final chapters for no reason
>it was all canon
AND they have a power that you see when they first play.
Shizu is literally fucking shit at mahjong. She didnt score positive in the semis and she probably wont in the finals.
Teru has skill in addition to her powers, yet.
Take as an example the round in Achiga-hen where Toki declared Riichi. Teru then discards a safe tile, and Subara, seeing the tile is safe, discards that same tile.
Teru pons it to shift the draw order to interrupt Toki and ultimately win the hand.
That is SKILL.
Monkey has skill too (like the final hand of the quarter-finals, she reforms her hand into a chiitoitsu helped by her ability AND her own quick thinking), but Ritz made sure not to display it at all in the semifinals, instead making her a bratty little shit who taunts Awai.
Speaking of Awai, if you want an example of someone who relies only on their power, look no further.
Whatever anon. Like I say haters gonna hate. At this rate we are going to repeat arguments no different like it was 3 years ago. Waste of time.
You either move on or forever butthurt.
The only way I'll move on is what WILL happen.
Shizu gets a couple flashy pages and then does fuck nothing.
Shizu and Achiga then get less screentime than kyoutarou except for kuro.
Is it really allowed in Japan or is Nodocchi super lewd ? Going out with this kind of dress is like begging for rape.
Probably because in the first three chapters that were released before the proper serialization there is no mention of the team tournament, but she introduced all five players of Kiyosumi already.
So instead of cutting a member she made 5 player teams - just like kendo and in some karuta tournaments.
Actually, she does make the link about Saki joining the club letting them play in the nationals in the first chapter.
How do 4 player teams even make sense for mahjong? Why would you need the team to play within itself during the competition? 5 players is better for the club because you can have one sit out.
I see nothing wrong with her outfit.
>AND they have a power that you see when they first play.
Shizuno's power is revealed the second time you see her play. (The only time before was the last hand of quarterfinals and it lasted for one hand). Hiding a character's power until her second game is not uncommon is this manga at all, Nodoka's power stayed hidden even longer.
If that's correct then it's another thing that the Yenpress release did correctly and the scanlation not.
Except that player sitting out is pointless almost every time. As a team game, there's no reason you can't have 10 or 3 people. But as a club, why does there need to be more than 4 people actually entering?
One player can record the hands and the scores, or make tea. Also if a player is late (Hisa for example is also the student congress president), or sick, the remaining players can still play normal games.
As we've seen from flashbacks that's really not something that happens, they just stand around and talk. As for Kiyosumi, that's why they have a boy there.
There's always mahjong parlors if they need to.
All I'm saying is, you could make a list of 1 character to take out of every team and you wouldn't even miss them.
In the first chapters Hisa after waking up checked their scores in the PC (which means that they had to take breaks and type them). Well, perhaps the automatic tables from 2050 can do it themselves.
Daily reminder: Saki has conquered the highest mountains
>She plays several games
Which aren't shown. The first time she is shown playing is the last hand of quarterfinals and that time lasts for one hand. Just admit you can't read, you coudn't even read the post you've replied to.
Point is, there's no hint of her powers before semis despite us knowing about her playing for a long time. Every other character with powers was introduced as someone strong so there's nothing wrong with them having those powers/showing new ones later.
In Shizuno's case it's pure bullshit.
>some mahjong players can paralyze other peoples' hands with their power
okay, this is no longer just supernatural mahjong power. This shit is Shinsekai Yori tier, people in the Saki-verse have full-blown psychic powers. Them only being applied in mahjong seems to be a coincidence, as they could easily be used to take over the world instead.
that seems quite silly.
>Point is, there's no hint of her powers before semis
Because they avoided focusing on her playing or even commenting on it. Just admit you can't read, you coudn't even read the post you've replied to.
Have someone the Saki FanArt?
I want check the original illustrations.
Yeah, Kasumi is easily the biggest.
Shizuno hikes the mountain ranges of Nara frequently.
Shizuno lives in the mountains.
Mount Yoshino is a mountain located in the town of Yoshino in Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture.
Kimpusen-ji is the head temple of a branch of the Shugendō religion called Kimpusen-Shugendō in Yoshino district
Shugendō is a highly syncretic Buddhist religion or sect and mystical-spiritual tradition that originated in pre-Feudal Japan, in which enlightenment is equated with attaining oneness with the kami .
This perception of experiential "awakening" is obtained through the understanding of the relationship between humanity and nature, centered on an ascetic, mountain-dwelling practice.
Shugendō literally means "the path of training and testing" or "the way to spiritual power through discipline."
The resident buddhist deity, Zaougongen... isn't one buddha, but a trinity of:
Gautama Buddha (representing the past)
Guanshiyin Buddha (the present)
Maitreya Buddha (the future)
This is supposed to represent the eternal cycle of salvation. This is why Awai never had a chance.
It's probably something with my internet it happens with big images.
>We did get one of the best couples in series from it.
>Image not related
Anyone want to make guesses about the finals?
Hisa hell wait is her lifestyle too.
Did Shizu's yuri levels increase as well?
I'd be more interested in which girls from each team score the most and which lost the most points.
Kuan Yin is a Bodhisattva, not a Buddha. It would be absurd to have 2 Buddhas in the same time period and the same realm represent past and present, too.
From what I understand of Shugendo (by the Japanese wiki), ascetic practices and trials are less about bringing about enlightenment or enlightenment experience, but simply to gain psychic or spiritual powers. This is consistent with Shizu's situation, as we saw no indication whatsoever of her being a particularly spiritually exalted person, but she did undergo many trials in the mountains in her own way, and developed Mahjong-related powers as a result.
Allusion to Zao Gongen might not actually have too much weight aside from driving the point about Shizu's powers home.
Hell even just another tournament would probably take a decade for Ritz to finish.
But the individuals just seem like the same stuff repeated again. I still think the series will continue (I don't think it'll end before Shinohayu, and that one just barely started), but I'm not sure how.
It's already da finals. Monkey's already there. Individuals don't count for anything. RM's just fiddling at the beach as the world is about to burn.
Yuuki is gonna be a badass. If she's even more speedy than against Satoha, she may be able to stop Terutime once or twice by herself.
Her defence is the problem but she showed progress.
She is slowly becoming more versatile.
>Teru needs to win because she's Teru
>Yuuki's anti-Teru tactics need to have an effect
>Kuro can't be shit the entire nationals so she has to do something
That leaves Satoha to lose, but that's also hard to imagine.
>Kuro can't be shit the entire nationals
She did good in the very first round we were shown, right? That ought to be glory enough for a player of Kuro's "calibre". She's bad, face it.
Kuro as a character has a lot of potential. Her mother thing is still a mystery, and her mother's relationship to Harue isn't really developed yet. I think she'll redeem herself in the final.
Any other Teru pairing is ridiculous.
Why does everyone hate Shizu's new flame powers as if they came out of nowhere?
When she first revealed the 'mountainside' powers in Achiga-hen, an unexplained flame effect was behind her, and started making a circle that wasn't completed in the end, because the match ended.
And yet now everyone is complaining as if it came completely out of nowhere?
Even at the time, everyone commented on how Shizu had 'yet untapped powers', or something to that effect. Is everyone complaining just people who have never watched/read Achiga?
Of people who have watched it just so they could feel like their complaints were more legitimate
I mean it's obvious Ritz thought about Shizu's power before, so the question is why wasn't it more clearly hinted at earlier in the show. Why didn't Harue react to it either in the past or when they reunited?
I really like the characters in Achiga (even more so when after reading Shinohayu you re-read it through Harue's perspective), but there's just so many instances of stuff that Ritz could have just told the readers before or better illustrated. It just comes off as sudden and done for shock value.
By "Everyone commented" I meant in the manga. As in, people around Shizu commented on her powers and said there was still more to come.
Achiga is already shit-tier, considering all of their players have bad powers and lack the flash and flair others have, but why would people get mad when one of them finally gets a power worth its salt?
Sorry Teru, I'm not into books on philosophy. Also why would you read a book with someone else? It's not really a team activity.
>Why wasn't it more clearly hinted at earlier in the show.
Shizu started developing her powers during middle school, that is, in the time skip, after Harue left the children club. Also it's not an aura that she has the whole time or that she can instantly switch on, she needs preparation (practice games before the match) and she could only release it fully at the end of the final match.
The first hint that we got was against Koromo (flame symbols and later Koromo's warning), that's pretty early considering that the qualification tournament ended in a few pages.
Also remember that against weaker schools (qualification tournament, first round in the national tournament) Kuro and Yuu smashed their opponents, the later players only had to win swift cheap hands. That was a complaint of FunaQ, she couldn't completely understand Arata's playing style from the previous records.
But I agree that they could have done it better in the quarterfinal match.
>The first hint that we got was against Koromo (flame symbols and later Koromo's warning), that's pretty early considering that the qualification tournament ended in a few pages.
I thought that was way late. I mean if she's extraordinary why not hint it right from the start? Why not have the characters just discuss her development, or Shizu herself comment on it prior to the semi.
The entire Achiga part suffers from so much rushed development, and it's not even stuff that should require several chapters to fill in, just a couple of panels would suffice.
How much would we be hyping up Shizu if Achiga-hen never happened?
For the finals, where there's no reason to gimp anyone's powers like they did with Jindai? Definitely would be interested to see this apparently monster-class opponent of Saki and Awai.
If the Achiga chapters in the main manga are still in then we'd probably be praising Ritz for all the foreshadowing or something.
sorry, I didn't remember correctly. But when did we see the playing style of the other girls (except Kuro)? Quarterfinal for Yuu and Ako and semifinal for Arata and Shizu.
>Shizuno has managed to completely break Nelly's power
>Nelly's body remembers experiencing Sawaya's technique
>Nelly climaxes in the middle of the finals
>Nelly becomes possessed by Sawaya
>Everyone else in the table climaxes and can't play properly
If anyone cares, the first chapter of Tohai has been released. It's still pending approval on Batoto but you can grab it here.
I wonder if Nelly's "former world player who could paralyze opponents" is a reference to Niemann.
Hope we see more of her alleged magic powers, in addition to the hypnosis or whatever she used on Nana.
>...something even tastier that I ate a long time ago
So it's pretty much confirmed now that World Level Mahjong is Koizumi level batshit insanity right?
Goddamn, I'm now even more hyped to see Grandmaster in action. She's a player who once Ranked 2nd Strongest Overall on the World-Level Mahjong.
What the hell was her power? Making enemies boobs explode?
>tfw Scam Saki is canon.
Really, Scam Saki anon wasn't a Crazy Master of Dank Memes, he was a goddamn prophet.
Or maybe it's some kind of Puella Magi Sukoyan Magica thing
Paralysis is a lame mahjong superpower.
So what if your opponent can't move their arms? You still have to wait for them to draw and discard. It doesn't affect the match, other than maybe to scare people.
A real superpower is to get into someone's head. Generating tulpas and telling the future.
amina was actually a brown loli
suddendly everything makes sense
Is killing someone allowed if you use psychic powers to do it? That seems to be the direction we're heading in right now. The international tournament will be a bunch of girls trying to murder each other with their x-men powersets while trying to keep the charade of a mahjong game going on.
After all, if the opponent dies you win by default.
>if your opponent dies you win by default
>Implying Nelly constantly thinking about Sawaya isn't going to bring about the next evolution to her playstyle
>Implying feeling Sawaya's power didn't make her realize how weak money truly was in the grand scheme of things
Quick Question, why is Saki's ability Kans and Rinshan Kaihou? Her first on screen RK was merely so she could use her real power of table/score manipulation and getting +-0. Does that mean her real power is to get whatever hand she wants and she just never uses it?
Everyone actually hyping up Shizu before monkey magic happen. Something like MC no give up power that increase the draw when she fire up.
If archive not dead you can see people love Achiga manga. After asspull happen they just hate everything about it and start finding other weakness like Yuu x ray vision and why Kuro so useless.
Her real power is increased tendency to form kans, being able to detect when a kan can be made, and what is contained in the four dead wall kan tiles. She simply uses those kans and feeding others calls to control the table and get +-0. It seemed like kans and rinshan weren't the main deal way back when because she didn't need to rely on it to get +-0 then - she lowered the value of certain hands because she was doing too damn well even without using it. In rough spots like Koromo however, we see her using it frequently because she needed it to win. The table and point control isn't a power, it's a result of her using kans and sense. The quarterfinals are a good demonstration of what she does and how shes does it.
Never lose heart, Verdant Knights!
The Ryuuisou in the finals sergeants' match is as good as ours.
Nelly never shown real power anyway in semi to please the sponsor because they loves underdog.
Saki have tulpa nodoka and she don't use it yet.
Shizu probably have lots of asspull yet to show.
That leave Awai as a point fodder.
Speaking of monkey, we missed her mom's birthday on December 29.
HITASURA TENPAI WO SHITE RYUUKYOKU
Since the semis are over, we really do know all the final matchups now. People theorized Yuu allowing Mako all green, but it seems it might actually be happening now. It gives off the feeling Sumire and Hao will be the less notable though. I wonder who Sumire will try to target.
On the other matchups there's
I expect Teru to only be up like 50k-70k points with Satoha managing a low positive score.
I expect Hisa to mindgame against Takami extremely here. I can't imagine Ako doing well here. Though I do expect Hisa to seduce her.
This will easily be the most boring match of the finals unless Seiko manages to lose even harder somehow.
Infernal Magic vs Jew Magic vs Monkey Magic vs Space Magic
live futaba thread:
Mako a cute. That is all. So what if she's essentially forgotten?
I tried to make the worst list I could but it wasn't even that bad.
As expected of Ritz's characters.
She was rather shitty player with "some sort of power we haven't seen yet, most likely connected to her fighting spirit" for years, wih not a single achievement. Then in the finals she turned into a complete monster. It's fucking retarded, I have no idea how people can argue with that.
All the "hints" happened DURING the semifinal match. For example Koromo being wary of her though her history of playing with Shizu was continous rape train, it's just that Shizu wasn't mindbroken at the end. The only thing that could count as explanation (very short and weak one) also happened during semis, in a chapter of main manga - not in Achiga-hen.
Toki raping Kuro, Teru time and Senriyama/Shindouji chapters were good though. First chapters of Achiga seemed nice as well. On the other hand I think it would be better if Achiga-hen never existed so I probably agree with you.
Post whole page.
Scanlation is much better.
Yenpress version makes literally zero sense.
ツモ doesn't always mean tsumo - above all else it's just the act of drawing a tile from wall. Nodoka is surprised Saki discarded 5p which she drew just now. "Risky" isn't stated but is heavily implied, it's the sole reason why Nodoka is surprised so we can't say null translation is bad. It's liberal and changes the words used in the line but conveys the meaning well.
>scanlation is much better
Not really. The first volume is also filled with errors.
"I got hit by a sanshoku" - nope, Saki went out throwing away sanshoku and perhaps tanyao by ronning the 1-pin.
I don't mind the westernized terms (even if I joke about them), but the errors in the official translation.
Null has them too, see >>135618585
and here: Hisa says that she's the President of the Student Congress, not the Student Council. Null's line works too, but it's not translated correctly.
Can someone explain to me the reason why Saki is so cute?
What not really? Yenpress not only has terrible mistake, it doesn't even make any sense.
Translation is perfect on page you posted. Ritz was the one who made mistake.
If you want to comment on translation quality you should first buy original volumes or at the very least lurk Saki threads for more than a week - you would know Ritz makes a lot of mistakes.
Null's line makes sense at a face value, but in reality they completely failed to translate the meaning of the line and invented one on their own.
>they completely failed to translate the meaning
It's the opposite. They translated the meaning correctly but using completely different words. In original the meaning was implied while in Null's version the meaning is stated.
>implying those powers were not perfected by these hands
Yes, I misread that anon and though he was negating sanshoku - so I just glimpsed at the page and was satisfied seeing 三色 being used. My fault for going too far with stating translation is perfect when I didn't even check it.
Meaning: "She discarded the 5p she drew?"
Null didn't translated the "tsumogiri" term at all, and that's the main point of the line - Nodoka noticing Saki's little tile trick. "Risky" isn't anywhere in the bubble. It's probably something Nodoka is thinking, yes. But interpolating lines from context is exactly what bad translators do.
I know what original line is. I'm saying Nodoka is surprised about Saki discarding tile she drew for just one reason - because it was risky. It isn't directly stated but it's the obvious in this context.
Otherwise there's nothing strange in discarding what you drew.
>But interpolating lines from context is exactly what bad translators do.
Nope. Bad translators are known for directly translating each word J -> E without paying attention to meaning.
Mind you, I'm not saying Null's translation is good here - however it can't be considered wrong, as it conveys the meaning to the reader - and that's the goal of translation.
"points" is unnecessary here, original had just:
Are you people forgetting that Saki's already tasted Shizuno's power?
It's very autistics to go into depth in this but the Japanese "はい" doesn't always translate to "yeah" or anything that shows agreement. In many cases, like the はい after ron, it simply something like "okay".
I dislike how they remove tiles from bubbles, they are a nice touch.
Saki's はい isn't "yeah" or "right" in this case. "Here" would obviously be a better translation given the context. What is wrong with translators these days?
When I didn't know mahjong the words after winning hands like riichi ippatsu tsumo sanshoku pinfu uradora sounded like magic incantations to me. Now I know mahjong terms but yenpress is like a foreign language.
