>>121441632 >Index S3 More than enough material, anime sells extremely well and new LN is coming soon. I see a it being announced sometime this year. >Railgun S3 Enough material for maybe 6-10 episodes if they wait 2 years we might get s3, only thing holding it back is waning popularity and mediocre sales boost. Such is the curse of having such good source material. >Accelerator Maybe within the next 3-4 years. Maybe.
>>121441864 >negative reaction towards the fillers in japan >sales went down during fillers >cute girls doing cute things is not what the fanbase is about When otaku's talk shit about your series, you better fucking listen no matter what /a/ sais.
I love the Raildex series and I want to pick up the LN's. However I'm a slow reader and my mind slips away while reading a lot, even when I find what I am reading interesting.
Now given that I've watched both seasons of both index and railgun + the movie and manga: Would it be worth it for me to bare with the earlier novels that the Animu/Mango already covered? Should I just skim through them or should I try to get my shit together to make sure I don't miss any details that the manga/anime doesn't really cover?
>mfw I have to read every 2nd paragraph twice because I keep on losing focus
Note: I suppose I should just straight up mention that I've gotten myself diagnosed for ADHD and was told that I am, in fact, not a spastic. I just have the attention span of a goldfish apparently. Although they where never really clear about that part.
>Would it be worth it for me to bare with the earlier novels that the Animu/Mango already covered? Yes. Some more than others. Volumes 2, 4, 5, 6, and 13, for instance. You can pretty much skim through the others as they're almost the same as the anime and/or not too important
But it is uninspired and shitty SoL of cute grills doing cute grill things. Nobody would care if Nagai actually gave a shit and made good filler that actually made sense in the setting and had meaningful interaction outside of "WOW I LOVE RICE COOKERS THIS CAKE SURE IS TASTY".
I mean come the fuck on man, look at what he has to work with. Why not Focus on Kongou and Kuroko quarreling at school? Why not have an episode where a Misaka clone takes the place of Mikoto and none of her friends notice much? Why not more ITEM schenanigans with the Railgun Team? Or holy shit, why not animate the Railgun SS1 LN, which was literally a canon version of cute grill SoL in skimpy swimsuits with crazy aztec magic fuckery thrown in?
But no, we get a shitty and generic loli, people being grossly out of character, completely retarded plot points, and Saten some how defeating super advanced war machines with a fucking bat. The SoL was fucking shit, and I really don't understand why anyone happily gobbles it up when anyone who gave half a fuck could write SoL 10 times more interesting and dynamic than was what presented.
>>121442271 >Why not Focus on Kongou and Kuroko quarreling at school? Kongou shouldn't have been there to begin with >Or holy shit, why not animate the Railgun SS1 LN, which was literally a canon version of cute grill SoL in skimpy swimsuits with crazy aztec magic fuckery thrown in? Because then he'd have to animate Saten getting the short end of the stick and Nagai can't do that to his waifu
Dude should take some professionalism classes from the Index manga artist, who had to fucking skip his waifu's arc.
>>121442169 >I can't read for reasons and I'm going to blog about how special it is I lost my mind every time I see people like that. It's fantasy garbage for 12 years old and not some fucking Ulysses. If you have so much trouble then ask your mom to read it for you.
>>121441008 what has that to do with ADHD? ADHD is if he couldn't concentrate on the anime. I have ADHD and have problems with exactly that. he just doesn't want to waste time, which is understandable. I might try this out as well, sounds like a great idea to work out while watching anime.
>>121445052 >Hell, some parts were better in the anime than in the manga.
They even went out of their way to include some of the LN and omake material to make it flow better. It's too bad the first ep and the seventh ep break the immersion so badly. It could have been great as a single cour season with the fluff filler cut out.
>>121445021 >I still get goosebumps when I rewatch episode 05. >Shit was TOO GOOD. same here bruh. >dfw haven't watched an anime that good yet >all the animes which have even better rating on MAL don't give me goosebumps at all
>>121447537 I still have suspicions about the relationships between the Tokiwadai girls. Neither Kamachi, Fuyukawa or Nagai has ever touched directly upon the subject of how Kuroko and Mikoto actually became friends. I feel like there's a major plot twist there with Misaki at the center of it. Kuroko's obsession with Mikoto is literally at its peak while Misaki is deeply suspicious of her, but the two suddenly drift apart as Misaki more directly interacts with Mikoto and warms up to her in her own twisted way. There's not enough evidence to say Kuroko was actually being manipulated by Misaki, but it would certainly explain a whole lot.
>>121448518 I always thought that Kuroko was just so obsessed that she threatened Mikoto's original roommate. After all, she isn't even in the same fucking grade as Mikoto. >>121448559 I'm okay with that, I don't deserve her attraction like Touma does.
>>121448607 Well, yeah. But they never explain why she is so obsessed. Even her journal entries in the omake section of the manga seem to paint the picture of someone going through some kind of unusual and sudden bipolar disorder.
>>121448912 The strength of their Personal Reality from what I can gather. So the more they believe in the reality that they overwrite onto the world the larger the effects from it would be. I could be offbase though
>>121448912 Aleister goes on something of a tangent about it in volume 2 while talking to Stiyl. It can't be anything physical, as Kakine (and to a lesser extent, Mugino) prove a level 5 ability can persist even if the body is destroyed. I would assume its a projection of ones own soul.
>>121449115 I think its moot, if you were to find your self in that world you would be better off going the magic rout and learning magic that lets you nullify electricity. Its more work but you have a better chance to success. You would also need to practice public speaking so you could make better on the fly speeches than Touma if you want to win her heart.
>>121449115 I thought you meant ability as in utility/power. For what the power itself is I would say that you are at some level correct that your DNA map would at some level at least predispose you to what kind of power you would receive. I don't think which power you get was ever discussed at any length though so it's anyone's guess. >>121449198 As the anon above you said though, every Sister got electromaster so it would imply it's at least somewhat influenced by your DNA, unless you're about to tell me clones have cloned souls from the original as well
>>121448518 There's a scene somewhere in the manga that shows Kuroko's diary over the course of the first month or so after enrolling. She started out hating Mikoto because she thought she was stuck up and then after seeing her act heroic in a couple of situations her final entry is something along the lines of "I LOVE ONEE-SAMA." Evidently she kicks Mikoto's roommate out and moves in, which gets them both in trouble so they have to clean the floors which brings them together as friends.
>>121449221 Just because we only see the success stories of the magicians doesn't mean it should be easier to learn magic than to get an esper power I should think, I'll bet you they have all sorts of level 0s just like AC does.
>>121449317 Thats not that point. The point is its a complete lotto if you get a power that will nullify electricity. If you get something useless like the power to slit leaves, then you are stuck with it. The magic side lets you focus your training with a goal in mind, there is no lotto.
Hijacking thread for this question: does anyone have Index light novels from baka-tsuki in epub format? I would highly appreciate sharing, as it so happened that they are now pulled off since Yen Press apparently licensed those, and I used BakaReader to read so I have saved none.
>>121449198 I don't think it can be something that can or will be explained either. If it were the projection of souls, would that imply that two level 3 teleporters are the same in some way? >>121449221 Yeah, but then I'd probably never end up in Academy City. I'm sure if I somehow ended up as an Esper in AC I probably wouldn't have the guts to talk to her. I guess I can always join Judgement and try to be useful somehow.
>>121449402 You're of course assuming you're lucky enough to ever discover magic exists in the first place, the statistics are about the same I would expect, not to mention if this is with the goal of being closer to Mikoto in mind, one of those options places you in the same city as her and the other places you square against being normally allowed in her city.
That there are level 0s in Magic... is not that important I think. Touma's dad created a temple out of coincidence. Pretty sure you could prepare rituals in advance and use wits to make it look like you have powers.
>>121449838 Because their scenes were great and the chemistry worked out. Dash on some "Way more time spent together than anyone else" and some character development from Touma of all people and it checks out
>>121449584 You're simplifying it too much. AC may categorize certain abilities as being similar, but the point is every individual's perception is different and they come to similar conclusions by different paths. The AIM diffusion field wouldn't be nearly as potent if personal realities were so easily labeled or identified by superficial traits.
>>121449962 anon most of NT7 is a blur for me. iirc it was something about being able to use the aim of every nearby esper, and i can't remember why the level fives worked all the time. i really don't understand how her failed attempt at acquiring ib went down, since he cancels his own aim.
>>121450114 He does. I believe in Ralgun or a novel they even note that his AIM is all over the place and doesn't really make sense. >>121450133 She creates a reference point for nearby espers' AIM, or powers in general, since she analyses what's going on with the esper's body to use their power. As for how it worked/didn't for IB iunno.
>>121449809 Being the admin of a Level Upper network grants you access to the abilities in that network depending on how you adjust your own brainwaves. Think about how Kazakiri is only able to manifest through the manipulation of Last Order's brainwaves.
>>121450312 You mean that whole Multi Skill thing the scientist pulled off? That's just borrowing other's powers like Rensa does, we're talking about your own abilities and what would determine them, saying that the clones would make one assume that there has to be some physical aspect to it unless the soul was somehow cloned into them as well.
>>121450458 Like I said earlier in the thread, the clones themselves admit their minds/souls are "borrowed" and not their own. It could be taken in a figurative sense, but NT4 suggests Kiharas actually know how to fuck with that shit.
>>121450594 >>121450543 The Kiharas are able to do that yes, but with the focus that was given on getting Mikoto's DNA map for Raidio Noise I would assume that there is some physical aspect to it, else it would be easier to not have a whole whack of identical girls running around and making people remember cloning is illegal if they happen to spot them.
The only explanation I can sort of see if there is no physical aspect needed and they could have made the clones look like anything and didn't need to screw around with Mikoto to get the electromaster ability into a bunch of them is that it was to ruse Accel into thinking they were clones so he would go with the plan and eventually latch onto Last Order as a way to protect the hub of the network
>>121450910 Now that's some stupid shit if I ever heard it. Even if I don't buy into this whole Mikoto = Nuit thing, you've got to be pretty stupid to think Kamachi would let tangential works go against the setting he's created. There's about zero chance that for example stuff like the Dragons popping out of Touma's arm is not going to be important to Index and that it doesn't get run by him
>>121451237 >Two people met and didn't instantly yell "I know you and have a history with you!" They didn't only do that, they were absolutely oblivious to each other the whole damn time. It makes you think about how things that happen in the Railgun side of the story don't really affect Index in any significant way.
>>121451341 >Two people not immediately acknowledging and talking to each other when they meet, especially when they didn't get along great as is >As much of a contradiction to the story as Mother Fucking Dragons, Level 6 and all the other shit that happened in that arc Stop being so intentionally thick about this, it's obvious as fuck that some things are going to be run by him because they're going to come into play or might contradict rules of the universe whereas little things like Lessar and Mikoto meeting are going to have fuck all consequences to them
>>121451490 It's been how long, timeline wise, since Touma had 8 dragons pop out of his arm? Neither of the times his arm blew up since then have the dragons showed up. Are they resting? Was Touma's tone too harsh when up against Fianma and now they're moody?
>>121451588 i didn't like it a first, but i have come to appreciate how convoluted the entire plan was. >>121451588 there are two possibilities >out of control mikoto was a bigger threat than a magic god or >dragons only form in AC i never liked option 2 because one as far we know nothing has changed since izzard so it being much stronger is weird. two, it is believed that aim is the thing that makes it form but lack of aim didn't stop kazakiri in russia and i don't think it stops aiwass either.
>>121451647 Neither of the other times that Touma's arm blew up was inside AC if I recall, it's theorized that the dragons show up with high concentration of AIM and otherwise is just the invisible thing. >>121451704 Go ahead and point out where they forgot everything, I'll wait. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, ie; just because they didn't run up and hug doesn't mean they don't know each other. If you have a page where Mikoto goes "Lessar? Who the hell is that?" then by all means
>>121451791 On the way to school, Misaka Mikoto stood silently with one of her cheeks twitching. That spiky-haired idiot was once more pulling off repeated miracles that could never happen in a normal life. Who was that imp-like girl snuggling up against him on that bench? Who was the dangerous blonde girl sitting on his lap who he had been seriously fighting just the other day?
>>121451772 I'd need to read the section where Othinus crushed the dragons again but I think they scale with the size of the threat. Othinus is only so tall (heh) so having 7 some dragons pop out wouldn't really be helpful as compared to when some giant ball of death is sitting in front of you and you need to get rid of it asap.
The AC thing is what I throw my hat into myself, but you are right that Kazakiri can seem to go to Russia just fine.
>>121451974 >>121451971 To be fair she reacts the same way she does to Birdway who she just saw the other day. I didn't remember that yes but it's still hardly as important a detail to remember as all the other plot heavy elements in Railgun.
>>121450797 Nuit is depicted as a woman wearing no clothes, covered with stars. Her husband is Seb (the Earth).
Nuit is the main speaker in the first chapter of the Book of the Law and the feminine compliment to the deity Hadit. Nuit is the infinitely vast circle whose circumference is unmeasurable and whose center is everywhere. Hadit is the infinitely small point within the core of every single thing. The union of the two is yet another glyph of the Great Work.
Hadit, "the great god, the lord of the sky," is depicted on the Stele of Revealing in the form of the winged disk of the Sun.
Hadit is the principal speaker of the second chapter of the Book of the Law, where he identifies himself as the point in the center of the circle, the axle of the wheel, the cube in the circle, "the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star," and the worshipper's own self. Hadit has been interpreted as the inner spirit of man, the Holy Ghost, the sperm in which the DNA of man is carried, the Elixir Vitae. When juxtaposed with Nuit in Liber Legis Hadit represents each unique point-experience. These point-experiences in aggregate comprise the sum of all possible experience, Nuit.
In Egyptian mythology, Seb is a son of Shu and Tefnut and a god of fertility and the Earth. He was associated with the goose and the colors green or black. Seb imprisoned the dead souls of evil men and women, keeping them from entering Heaven.
Nuit = Mikoto is obvious, stars and light, etc. Hadit = Accel: winged disk of the Sun (angel mode), the axle of the wheel (vectors) Seb = Touma: god of fertility (harem), also associated with snakes (snake --> dragon), imprisoned the dead souls of evil men (IB)
keeping them from entering Heaven (Heaven canceller? What?)
>>121452142 So he could throw in a scene like Touma having esper powers and that'd be just dandy because "It's just Railgun, it doesn't matter" No, this shit does get run by Kamachi at least to some extent
>>121452366 Kamachi just keeps Railgun within its boundaries. He's not going to make a major revelation in a spin-off.
>>121452478 Learn to read. The point is that events in Railgun have no effect on the Index storyline whatsoever. More so when Kamachi retroactively adds things to have Mikoto do things and interact with new characters, but for some reason aren't acknowledged in Index in any way.
>>121453024 >She had already settled the issue involving a giant **** to increase **** which was very important to her.
>The related incident involving a **** named Dolly who had lived hidden in a tall building was also over for the moment, as much as she hated to admit it. Enough time had passed since then for her emotions to cool.
>>121453396 Except the evidence earlier proves otherwise. A simple backstory doesn't make a whole series relevant, specially when Kamachi said that he had planned it a long time ago and put special emphasis on it, unlike the rest of the plot, Mikoto's antics, and more important events which have been outright glossed over, and never acknowledged in Index.
>>121453573 you know what i mean anon, the things happening are not likely to be brought up unless the characters involved become the center of the plot. if misaki wasn't the pov of nt11 we would not have herd about it. as long as touma is the star of an arc it is not likely the doings of side characters will come up.
>>121453740 A very minor event only relevant to Misaki's character and not the series in general. Again >unlike the rest of the plot, Mikoto's antics, and more important events which have been outright glossed over, and never acknowledged in Index.
>>121453959 I'm not cherrypicking anything. I already gave you the facts that make Railgun irrelevant to Index. Minor events don't make difference in the big picture. Misaki's character is just a lot better handled and written than Mikoto's or Railgun in general. She trascends the horrible indifference of Index to Railgun.
>>121454178 >Spending effort on a moron I've been through this dance before, no matter how much time and effort I put into it I can't cure idiocy, my time is much better spent laughing at you flailing around attempting to make an argument instead
>>121454135 You see, Volume 3's description of what Touma found in the alley is clearly indicating a prolapsed uterus. Knowing a little anatomy will make clear, that a simple blodd flow reversal won't have this effect. Logically, it means Accel sexually harassed 10031 before her death. Probably rape. With vectors.
>A short backstory chapter for Misaki told in Railgun is referenced in Index >WOW, that sure invalidates the other glaring inconsistencies that show how little Kamachi cares about the shit he himself wrote for Railgun while writing Index
I'm impressed at the irony in your post, and how you resort to one-liners and name-calling when you run out of "arguments".
>>121454520 The one who has no "arguments" is you, you have one single instance where Kamachi didn't take into account that Mikoto had met Lessar, and that's about it, you're the one taking that and turning it into "scores of inconsistencies"
>>121454583 >implying the clones were anything more than pieces of meat with the ability to move and breathe for most of the experiment >implying they had any free will whatsoever >implying Accel wasn't manipulated by the clones and the scientists >implying the clones didn't willingly go to their deaths because they themselves even acknowledged that they were mere guinea pigs
ok in the index touma was sighing and considered losing the bet and dancing with mikoto misfortune. while in railgun he was enjoying himself with mikoto and didn't seem bothered at all. which one is canon?
>>121454629 There are other instances as well. None of the arcs in Railgun have been referenced in Index. Not even one as "important" as a new level 6 shift. Most of the other inconsistencies are due to the content being retroactively added and Kamachi changing things to make them work in Railgun, like Mikoto not remembering Uiharu's name when they've been in contact for a while.
>>121454676 >implying you're more than pieces of meat with the ability to move and breathe for most of your life >implying you have any free will whatsoever >implying Accel didn't enjoy the rape implying the clones accaptance of their death wasn't manipulation
>>121454914 Touma recalls events during Daihaiseisai and the things in Railgun never happened. This falls under retroactively added and irrelevant content, since every important arc in the series is always referenced later. No exceptions.
>>121454735 the being afraid of him started when stiyl was making him miss. it just shot out at mikoto too touma didn't even have time to regain his balance from the recoil of having him arm torn off. when othinus did it she had time to go destroy the dagger before it came out. fiamma shot touma and got spooked before touma said anything to the thing.
>>121455127 It shows how retroactively added content for a side story has no bearing on the main story. It shows that it is not integral part of the story and just a bonus. It also shows how much Kamachi makes shit up as he goes.
>>121455257 The amount of shit tier girls that are there only for their tits seems the most obvious one, there's also the fact that the whole chart screams "animeonly fan" those are the most obvious ones
>>121455394 It's a fact that Railgun retroactively fills in the gaps left in Index. It's a fact that it is a side story. It's a fact that it has no bearing on the main story. (so far). It's a fact that it is not an integral part of the story, just a complement to it. It's a fact that Kamachi makes shit up as he goes, most of the side stories being proof of that.
Who are you trying to fool here? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bait.
>>121455330 >Komoe not that important. Sensei is adorable and that's all that matters. >>121455138 Way too much oppai. Where's the weeha? Where's the lessar? Where are accel or Tsuchimikado or even Itsuwa if you like tits so much? Step it the fuck up
>>121456823 The cthulu cabal boss was great, he was damn genre savvy without even knowing it. >My mooks are useless now, should I kill them all as is customary? >No let's throw them a drinking party so they'll stay out of my way >One of them is following me to my secret office where I'm going to do nefarious deeds! Should I kill him to silence him? >"Lay off bro I'm about to get laid" >"Oh sorry boss" The guy was the best, then he couldn't get a jar open and sliced the whole damn top off, literally perfection, I just wish he had a face
