Did anyone else like this? I really enjoyed it. I just haven't had anyone to talk to about it.
>>
Casshern Sins is like a poem in animated form.

An absolutely trashy one, because it's fucking shit. 9/10 at worst.
>>
>>120779761
I enjoyed it greatly
>>
Glad to see you guys liked it. The first like 7 episodes were pretty slow, but then that payoff with Hope and her song was just like hooollly shit. I bawled when Lyuze died, no shame, just tears.
>>
>>120779761
It started at a slow pace, and kept with that pace, which is good. Show is amazingly animated, good writing, interesting characters, and the plot thickens every episode and the opening is pretty cool, as well as the soundtrack. I liked it a lot. Bought the DVD collection. Dub's pretty good as well.

I can't seem to find anything with decent seeds.

To be honest I liked the dubs more.
And yeah that pacing. It was painful, but in a good stretching your heartstrings way.

Despite how obnoxious her character was, I really didn't mind Ringo.
>>
>>120779761
i liked it a lot
>>
>>120779761
It did what it needed to do and more. A reboot in a different perspective is exactly what this series needed. Its dark, gritty, intriguing, thought provoking, and is overall enjoyable. Some of the characters are forgettable, and the plot is pretty slow paced. But the actions scenes, the animation, the soundtrack, the dub, all make it worth watching.

I read blame! then I watched this..

I should have watched something b4 this, I would typically like it but damn was it slow for me, interest was slowly waining cause i could already guess the direction this was all going.
>>
>>120780576
It can be predictable, but the events with other characters are what really drives the show and makes it interesting.
>>
>>120780465
Maybe I don't think the ending was bad nor hat is was a good conclusion.
I just think they did a really bad job with Braiking boss.
He just appears at the end out of nowhere. It's like if they forgot about him.
That being said. I would love a spin off or a OVA. I fucking love the art style. Madhouse payed respect to the 70's so well.
>>
>>120780544
I feel like most people can't make it all the way from episode 2 through to episode 8 (Hope's episode) on account of how slow 3-7 are
>>
>>120780544
Its so generic and simple yet its sublime.
>>
>>120780606
An OVA with Casshern returning and rezzing his waifu would be the greatest.
>>
>>120780606
An OVA is long time due for this series. Sadly, we will never get it. This show is still amazing. The ending was predictable, and Braiking boss was never really the vocal point of the show, but they could have handled him better. The ending was a conclusion. Not bad, not great, just an ending, and thats all it needed to be.
>>
>>120780650
I just need more torturous feels.
I agree with your idea on the ending.
>>
>>120780624
It paid its respects to old anime style, while adding in modern aspects of anime.
>>
>>120780677
It had its good share of feels throughout the show. I agree, the ending could have been more feelsy, but that would have ruined the overall tone and goal of Casshern Sins.
>>
>>120780617
Indeed. Its a show you have to really immerse yourself into in order to really enjoy it. You have to understand its darker tones, and depressing atmosphere. Its action scenes are amazing enough to bring in casuals, but the intellectuals will stay for the ride and appreciate it.

Toonami plays it all the time, and the "acceptable" dub only makes it more accessible; dub-only fags and filthy Netflix/Adult Swim casuals rave about it, I don't know where this idea that it's trending toward the obscure side comes from - unless you mean just on /a/, in which case no shit /a/ doesn't talk about good shows.

Cassherns immortality was never meant to be explained other than subtle hints. Dio's immortality was never explained as well. I do admit that they should have told us more about Ringos origins, but the show didn't want to give it all away.

>>
>>120781167
To be honest, I think it's just the dystopian setting.

If there's one thing I've learned by now, it's that the majority of people who watch anime are incredibly shallow.
Kaiba has the lolsorandumb settings/characters, but it actually requires you to figure out what's going on yourself, which immediately turns off any casual viewer after 2-3 episodes.
That's my theory anyways.
>>
>>120781241
You're fucked
>>
>>120781241
Neither Dio nor Leda are immortal. They're being taken by ruin, which Leda in particular is obsessed over as she wishes to stay eternal and beautiful. Before the ruin though, the three were nigh indestructible to any conventional means of harm.

That should be the gist of the OVA, most of the characters that did survive the series come back and do *something* cool.

>>
>>120781868
The scene when they break the bell made me so sad.
The secondary characters are really good and feel so fleshed out.
>>
>>120782115
Yeah. The show focused more on the side characters, rather than Casshern himself. Which is fine by me, it made the series feel more enjoyable and more about Casshern's journey seeing the world he has destroyed.
>>
>>120782115
Let's see for me the episodes that hit me in the feels the most were
8, 18, 19, 24 three of those were focused on secondaries

Also, all of the Dune episodes were 10/10, but not in the feels way
>>
>>120782194
I remember seeing something on this. I didn't check it out, I really should.
They wanted to make you feel like you were Casshern and not watching as a 3rd party.
Because of that, you must make the main character quite emotionless and, like you say, put a huge amount of emphasis on the side characters/journey.
I was never attached to casshern but felt quite close to all the other characters.
I guess, it makes you wonder: What would you do if you would destroy the world?
>>120782313

I love all the character designs and the animation itself is gorgeous. The reason why everything looks so amazing is because of the literal setting of the story. There isn't much going in the backgrounds, gray colors and static backgrounds that look like paintings, but all this just helps the overall tone of Casshern Sins and it looks amazing. Plus, with the lack of color and complex backdrops, they were able to focus on everything else.

>>120780724
I love the entire OST. And it really adds to the tone of Casshern, not a lot of anime can say that.

>>120781868
There is a bell suspended in the sky-- ding dong. I can hear it in my heart and it resonates.

>>120782115
The secondary characters make the fucking show. Casshern isn't about action and shounen level of fighting. It's about the people and the characters and the world itself.

Its was too preachy, they should have focused more on cool battles instead if trying to shove their ideas about life and death down our throats. I feel like it tried way too hard to justify the ruin, their stance would have only been fair if we were able to see what life was like before the ruin, instead they simply say "X is better than Y, but we will never show you Y". Even Casshern contradicts himself by saying that life has no meaning without death, yet through his interactions with others he is able to find meaning and worth in his own existence despite being "immortal", but lets be real, if its possible for you to be destroyed, then you aren't really immortal.

8/10 show though.

I would strangle a few creatures to get Tohru Furuya in lead rolls for anime again.

But this sins holds a darker tone
>>
>>120784034
The show was never about battles. Any viewer would know that right off the bat. Only casual viewers or shounen fans would think that battles should have been the vocal point. The greatest strong point about Casshern Sins was the desolate world around Casshern, and him coming to terms with himself, and seeing how his actions caused the impacts on other lives. The fights are cool, but not the main point. He admits life is meaningless without death, but he admits that he is dead on the inside. No memories, no personality, nothing. He's an observer, not a character.
>>
>>120784084
Eh, as an Italian this makes me chuckle a bit.

I remember that my mom gave me VHS of anime from her time and one of those was Casshern, however, we were one of the fews that used to call it Kyashan, quite curiously.
Once I saw the announcement for Sins I was a bit puzzled because I didn't expect it to actually be the "Kyashan" I watched as a little kid.

I think he is supposed to be contradictory. He appears to have this nihilistic view on life and death, but he goes so far out of his way to help others and help them live, whether through literally saving their lives or helping them realize something within themselves to make them want to keep living.

>cas$hoes will never help you find meaning in your life

>>120784336
He's supposed to be a dynamic character by these tropes, as well as a blank slate to learn and develope from other characters, which made him perfect for the kind of show Casshern Sins is.

>The show was never about battles. Any viewer would know that right off the bat.

I know that, I'm just saying it would have been better off focusing on what it was doing right, instead forcing something that they themselves had no clear grasp on. It could have been a GOAT action anime instead of decent drama.

Also, rainbow crystal.

What the hell? One or two years ago when I made a thread, most anons agreed with me that it was incredibly slow paced and boring. I literally fell asleep watching it. I admit it had good art direction and animation but it was lackluster as fuck.
>>
>>120785076
>implyign

It was GOAT all around.

Hell the action wasn't even that good outside of Dune vs. Casshern/Dio or Casshern vs. Dio

Dat last fight between Casshern and Dio tho

Immortal does not mean invincible, they are two different words and I wish more people would learn that.

Poor Dio, the idiot died happy because he landed a punch that would have killed Casshern IF! he wasn't more powerful than him, maximum fucking kek on that loser.

im·mor·tal
i(m)ˈmôrdl/
adjective
adjective: immortal

1.
living forever; never dying or decaying.

If I remember correctly, everyone thought they were immortal yet ended up dying or decaying. There just can't be a middle ground between the 2, you either can do or you can't.

The plot was hollow and even so managed to be inconsistent. Calling me underage won't make your anime less garbage. Just look at the thread, everyone comments about the visuals and whatnot, but ctrl+f plot and you'll see that no one talks about it. You already know why they don't.
>>
>>120785944

It wasn't that it was the only thing it did right, its that the other things it was trying to do came up short imo.

Cowboy bebop is structured similarly in that there is action, but also a lot of down time and drama, but its done well! In Casshern the drama bits just aren't that good, with some episodes being sort of hit and miss.
>>
>>120786306
>Muh plot

Fucking no one watched this for the plot you shithead, we all were in it for the characters.
Keep crying about muh plot, muh character development, you're still a tryhard kid and you should really go back to watch your anime of the week instead of trying to criticize something you don't understand.

It's like I said that I watch Kinnikuman for the deep plot and lore, you're fucking retarded if you truly believe what you just typed.
>>
>>120786306
You are aware that you can discuss plot without saying the word plot, are you not?

Furthermore, the show isn't plot driven. So I don't see your point.

>>120786306
Plot isn't everything. We don't talk about it because it is rather simple, but that doesn't matter. It's not the point. Your perceived pretension comes from the aesthetics of the show, which again, is not for everyone. No amount of explaining is going to make you "get it" if you don't already feel it.

>>120786948

Nah I'm pretty sure I'm spot on. Before the ruin robots were "immortal", Luna was killed which brought about the ruin which ended their "immortality". My argument is that if death was ever a possibility, they were never true immortals, just very fucking durable.

Its pointless to debate these things anyway, there is just too much unexplained shit in CS.

>>120786306
Want to talk about plot, huh, faggots?
I mean, feel free to not like it, but fuck you for saying that it lacks "plot" and that's why it's bad.

The plot is simple. That's the fucking point. Everything that happens in this show and all of the feelings that it evokes are directly related to the primary and secondary characters.

"The Angel of Ruin"

I think this is one of the best episodes because it really shows the manic state that all the inhabitants of this world are in. She so badly doesn't want to just wait for ruin, that she embraces her fighting spirit and tries running head on into her own ruin on her own terms.

>>120787135
I always took it as the robots could always die from destruction, but never from age and just simply being. And now they are all looking at their mortal lives and freaking the fuck out while struggling to find meaning.

And that's why I love the episode "The Angel of Ruin".
Beings coming to terms with death and time and realizing life is what you make of it and there's meaning to life outside of living your own.
>>
>>120788171
Original commercials, textless songs, trailers and a Pre-Air Event, whatever that means.

Not much, but I think the visual quality is worth it.
>>
>>120788554
That was actually the only episode I didn't really like. It was good, but Sophita was just...trash.
>>
>>120788554
The plot is obviously simple. But its open ended enough to interpret it in anyway.
>>
>>120779761
You faggots are making me want to start watching this again, even though my backlog is already full as fuck.

Last time I watched it I stopped somewhere where other robots similar to Casshern appeared. Dunno why I stopped, though.
>>
>>120791556
That would be Dio and Leda.
You really should finish it bring Puffs
>>
Best ending to an anime.
>If you are the life who saves them from meaningless death
