Getting a final count of what year everyone started coming here and how many oldfags have stuck around till the end.
You should post about things that were happening on /b/ at the time to make it easier to remember.
I remember duckroll was a thing, before even rickrolling. and people disappearing after mentioning candle jac-
ha I remember that. I didn't know what words activated them though, except for niggers
Oh and fortunes.
2005. Oldest memories I have are of planning Habbo Hotel raids on /b/ using my parents Windows ME computer in the middle of the night. Good times.
See you moot, regardless of what's happened over the years, I thank you for creating this website and giving people like me a place to exist.
When did /jp/ split off /a/ again? I first started coming on 4chan around that time, I mostly just hung out on /b/ out of morbid curiosity.
Then I tried /a/, didn't like the experience, and stayed on /jp/ for a couple years until recently when the catalog got integrated and made browsing faster boards comfortable.
Started frequenting 4chan in '06, and moved from /b/ to /a/ in 2008.
I should really move on with my life.
How many of you guy started browsing when you were underaged? Hell, I bet a lot of you still are.
Also I just realized that this is my 10th year browsing 4chan. Goodbye moot, we will miss you!
I'm turning 23 this year and I started browsing 4chan around 2009. So I dunno, around 16 or 17.
Come to think of it, I was in my first year of college back then, a pretty good time to gain new perspectives in life and 4chan delivered it to me.
Discovered /b/ in the summer of '06, migrated to /a/ just in time for Geass.
>Rozen Maiden was mandatory watching to even browse over 90% of the site
Good times. I loved how nearly every RM thread degenerated into all-out war between Junk and Teabitch fans, with a handful of Desufags on the sidelines.
No, I started when I was 20. Yes, I'm old.
I think I came to this site after a friend showed it to me (who still browses 4chan as well), I never thought I'd actually see the day when moot would step down as head admin of the site.
I guess he has better plans for the future but it still sucks seeing him go in light of everything, it just feels so sudden and unexpected.
>tfw could've gotten my Eagle Scout if I hadn't been stuck on the internet during my late teens
I think I first came to 4chan around 2005-2006 cause I was linked to /b/.
I stayed because of the TTGL madness around 2007 and I will be extremely sad to have to up and move elsewhere.
Thank you, moot, for sticking it out for as long as you have. I've made a bunch of great friends here who I will be able to call friends until the Internet dies and permanently separates us.
2007, a bit before that season that had Lucky Star and TTGL. All I recall vividly is the Konata 3333333 GET, though (didn't care much about the Kamina death shitstorm because I only got into TTGL about halfway through the show).
I was still in high school, so either 2005 or 2006. So basically my adult life has been spent sageing shitty RP threads and telling people to lurk more.
I think it's time for a group suicide meetup.
been browsing since 2013. yeah I know I'm a newfag but this really feels like the only place on the internet where I could discuss my passion with people who had a brain and go in depth on any of the series I loved or hated or just talk shit and discuss pointless things. I've been lurking for a while and I know quite a lot of board history but I can't even imagine how it must feel to be a long time user and have moot just suddenly leave.
anyway as much as you all love/hate everyone here, it's been fun these past 2 years for me and I've learnt a lot. don't think I'll ever find a place just as good as /a/, a place where I could visit and always enjoy myself and feel at home.
>inb4 fuck off newfag
One of the first images I ever saw on 4chan was a gif spoofing Zidane's headbutt and DIO's The World.
Fuck off newfag
There is literally nothing wrong with being new as long as you're not an obnoxious faggot about it
Any of you faggots come here for Chanology? I remember a video of a guy dressed up in devil's suit complaining there was a guy in devil's suit in front of the scifag's 'church'. Anyone have that video?
you seem alright to me anon
Candy-ass was a for newfag, you Candy-ass.
2007 MASTER RACE REPORTING IN!
I was underage, but I always though it was quite of retarded to ask people to be older than 18 when moot himself was 15 at the time of the board creation.
200...6? I honestly don't remember the exact year but I do remember that Rozen Maiden was hot shit in /a/ and DESUDESUDESU was the epic meme of the time, Code Gay ass was also a thing, never cared for it.
It's just been so fucking long and I somehow got completely engrossed in the entire fucking thing without having any perception of time of my stay here, it's just day after day after day of browsing it with the frail hope that I'll get 1 good day with a really long, awesome thread with interesting discussion. And it still happens. Pretty often.
28 years old, already starting to feel the age, still haven't read Dorohedoro.
I marked down the date I started coming to 4chan, because I knew I'd want to know later.
March 20, 2011. Started on /b/, made /a/ my home board the next year.
I was 14 back in 2004
Still had a life then
I must have started browsing in 2006. I was underage at the time, but at this point 4chan has been with me longer than any of my friends or acquaintances. It's been a fixture of my life and now I can scarcely imagine what life would be like without it.
I just hope moot's departure doesn't change 4chan too much.
I love you guys and I wish moot all the best
What was the fist anime you watched along with /a/?
I watched this shit here. It was terrible, but I had a blast every week because of all the trolling.
TL: trolling means shitposting
>That wasn't how it worked, though. You'd have to say Candle Jack's whole name, and THEN get cu-
Get what? Get cuckold? It's cuckold, isn't it? Yeah, I bet it is. Candle Jack? More like Cuckold Ja
Heard of /b/ and it's reputation in 2009 when I was a regular on
the Minecraft Forum, checked out /a/ in 2010/11. I was scared at first as I was underage then, and didn't really understand all the jokes and nuances, but I remember wanting to fit in so I stayed quiet and stuck around.
I finally thought I fit in and started posting then immediately got a 2 month ban, I didn't know how to reset it because of a Static IP and decided I'd just morally wait it out. I had a lot of fun with you all, the /ak/ people in particular. A lot of angry, frustrated, tearful, happy and blissful emotions have been spent with you all and I don't think I could have spent my High School years better. You all felt like genuine people, not personas, and that's something that the world is missing. For better or worse, /a/ has helped turn me into the person I've wanted to become. I have a goal and purpose in life and /a/ played it's part in manifesting it.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you very much /a/.
'08 I had no idea what was going on, but I liked it so I came back the next day, and the next day, and the next day, ad infinitum. Its been radical debating about stupid shit with all of you.
Is your galaxy still shining, /a/?
Alright, did anyone else bookmark threads and then wonder why the fuck they were all disappearing after a few hours?
First time actually stumbling into 4chan? Probably 2004. Understood absolutely none of it, so I went to fap instead.
First time actually consistently browsing? 2008. Looks like my class is the majority.
Aw man, Star Driver was so fun. It and Penguindrum were the last shows I really had a lot of fun watching with /a/.
gg's dead, too much shitposting in Yuribear threads. Maybe I just don't like 4chan anymore.
2006 here I got in here looking for raws of HotD for some reason I reached here and never leave, /a/ was my first board and and to this day is my main board...
I will miss you mootkins, good luck faggot if you read this.
i survived rozen maiden and desu, on b the great fur war, the death of /new/ and all the boards that i love changing. I remember when tohou was so big that /jp/ needed to be made. i remember everyone saying that chanology would be the end of us, and how it did change 4chan. and now moot is leaving us.....just end it all
I first came here on April 1st, 2005, April Fur's Day. That pretty much instantly kept me here.
I though for sure that I'd leave after a couple years, moot would sell the site or it'd go under on it's own, and I'd look back on it fondly years later.
It's been almost a decade,
I thought for sure that something would happen on horse board on the 10th anniversary, but now that he's gone I don't even know anymore.
With /a/, I think it was Code Geass, even though I reached here early 2006 I was more into mangas and didn't follow animes with /a/ until code geass. shit was fun even though the show became retarded at times.
>Only 6 people have stayed from 2003.
> Looks like you can get off Mr Bones' Wild Ride
