>[HorribleSubs] Death Parade - 01 [720p].mkv
I think the truth is moot. bartender said he was just an "arbitrator" and at the very end matchy said she had an affair, whether true or not she sealed her own fate, maybe because she wanted to save the man she loved soul? or made she was just a slut that deserved to go to hell? its for you to decide
on a another note is every episode going to be one gets saved and one not? cause thats going to get boring no matter how interesting the games are
idea is not bad, but first episode was just a rehash of the OVA.
Luckily the after credit scene and the preview looked interesting, because if every shows always features a game I'm going to lose interest very soon.
We still have quit e a few characters to properly introduce/flesh out ago I imagine we are getting part development of the guys in from the OP and maybe a game or two to help them in that development
yeah but the plot hasn't told me much more of what I already knew from the OVA.
I know it was necessary, but they should have added something more to keep the attention high on the OVA watchers too.
Yeah the ending seems like there will be some room for a better story. I don't know if an episodic game show would get boring, but having something with the black haired girl could be interesting.
>Little Witch Academia gets a kickstarter to crowdfund a sequel
>Meets goal, but sequel nowhere in sight
>Meanwhile, Death Billiards gets its own TV series
I will forever laugh at this.
Yeah, but that ain't helping LWA out now, is it?
>no moeshit or haremshit
based Madhouse saving this shitty season
>Well only the whole "YOU HAVE TO STAKE YOUR LIVES ON THIS GAME OR ELSE YOU WILL HAVE TO DRINK MARTINI SHAKES FOR ETERNITY" thing.
The objective is not seeing who wins the game, but making them play the game.
The game is the last test for the people to ascend into illumination.
Like the old man from DB and the wife who lied about the baby, they left their desire to keep living and trascended to the void while the young guy or the husband who were still attached to their strong human feelings re-incarnate because they still have a lot to learn.
>Human feelings are bad
I never want to achieve illumination, then.
Anybody else on their 20th play of the Op?
>BOOM BOOM BOOM
Trigger already stated that they were offered enough money to do TWO COURS series for LWA, but they refused because they wanted creative freedom in their anime. That's why they did the kickstarter.
And now ironically they are doing haremshit adaptations.
I really hope they don't have to explain the organ rule everytime, and then have the characters realize they're dead because they were bad people. It's going to get kind of repetitive.
the quality drop from the OVA to the TV series was something I expected but damn, this got hit pretty hard.
Did this bomb? Because it was pretty good.
>Wants creative freedom in their anime
>Turns down an opportunity to do 24 episodes worth of world-building and creative showing
>Instead, crowdfunds it to where it can only be a movie, effectively limiting the amount of freedom they can have with it
Trigger is so smrt.
>And now ironically they are doing haremshit adaptations.
They must have a poor memory, the production values of a single short should typically be a lot higher than one episode of a series, but in this case they matched Death Billiards in production values I'd say, at least for the premier.
Of course it didn't look as smooth as Billards, but overall it had the same amount of animation and attention to detail regarding body language ect...
And Parade has a fucking amazing OP where Billards had none.
You retards are so fucking funny. They would have had to made a shit load of compromises to make it happen. Meanwhiloe your precious Death Billards is already different from the original by adding fujoshi centric characters and a loli just to push it and it'll still bomb and be forgotten by the end of the season.
>already different from the original by adding fujoshi centric characters and a loli just to push it and it'll still bomb and be forgotten by the end of the season.
Oh man, 'cause it's not like other characters don't exist in the Death Billiards universe. No, it has to be NotGinko, his assistant, and that's it.
It's called world building, you dumbass. They only become bad if it's evident they're written to be one-dimensional, self-inserts. They're fine if they're written well.
SHOT THROUGH THE HEART
AND YOU'RE TO BLAME
Reminder to change your color output range if you watch funishit and want to be able to see anything.
>Get out of elevator
>Faggy-looking barman tells you you HAVE to bet your life on some stupid game
>Can't leave until you play he says
>Don't play and enjoy free booze until the end of time
"I chose not to choose. The reason? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got
A rare case where I wish this was one of those mature anime rather than a "mature" anime. Neat initial premise, but the descent into sensationalist ghoulish LOL THIS IS SO FUCKED UP AND DRAMATIC RIGHT!! lets it down, just like it did the original short a little.
I'm actually more interested in the recurring characters and side shit at this point.
As far as the fluids thing goes, that wasn't even exaggerated.
When you really cry over something that is incredibly serious to you it's at least as bad as that, I've only done it once in the last 15 years but I was basically pissing snot and tears from my face.
As for the character's actions being a little exaggerated, sure, but that's par for the course in anime and this was at least an incredibly serious situation that would decide the fate of both of them rather than some unimportant highschool bullshit which Anime melodrama is often reserved for.
The guy was trying to deny the possibility of him killing his own child.
The woman tried her best to play the role of the bad guy, so he can find some sort of peace out of it.
If you cannot even image people doing such simple human things, you are indeed unable to have sympathy or/and just an edgelord who thinks of himself as very intelligent.
LWA 2 was gonna happen regardless of Crowdfunding, it was originally going to be shorter by the Kickstarter was made to extended because fans loved it. They were mever planning to do anything more but the outcry convinced them to. Death Parade got made because Madhouse likes to lose money on shitty anime apparently.
Imouto Battle and Little Witch Academia are unrelated to one another and you don't know shit about anime production.
Oh man. I'm just reading through the old thread where the one autist tries to infer what happened to the wife from 空. Hahahaha, the word used was 虚無 which means void or nothingness just like the translation says.
Real talk, if they make a dub of this, I kinda want Travis Willingham to voice Decim since he voiced Ginko in the Mushishi dub.
I feel like it would be the only right choice.
>caring about dubs
>knowing dub voice actors
I'm actually a little disappointed to hear the games aren't the focus of the show, I think you could have done a lot with an episodic sort of format and maybe a gimmick or two to keep it from getting stale.
I may be basing this on nothing, but the rest of the characters don't seem that interesting. I know for a fact I don't like their designs, green and yellow gradient hair what the fuck.
People secrete copious amounts of fluids when they flip their shit.
Hey, I'm just encouraging people to do their own research and not eat up shit with no valid citations. It's why any discussion of sales or anime staff is filled with retards who only parrot hearsay.
Not necessary. He gets to learn some info about them. He learned for example that they actually knew each other and probably died together.
It is more likely that not choosing to play means staying there. He said he doesn't recommend it and he probably doesn't like his work a lot too.
Fucking sexist anime.
Why women has gone to hell if it husband who was driving the car? It's obviously that his jealously got them killed.
Holy shit I would never have expected anything like that even though I loved Death Billiards.
Are we getting good subs at any point? Shit, feels like Funi has sunk their claws into most of the best shows of the season this time.
The husband started going crazy when the waiter told him that he would lose if they both missed the rest of their darts. He didn't know the stakes of winning or losing at this point, only that his wife was going to win. That's all it took for him to turn into a distrusting piece of shit that would abusive his wife if she ever wronged him. I'm not saying the wife was god's gift to man or was a pure as white snow or anything, but I would rather have her reincarnated than someone with a shitty personality like his. What a cunt.
So the game is just a way to stress people out enough that they reveal hints of their inner character? And the place is only for people who die at the same time? What sort of setup is that? Man, the afterlife must suffer from budget problems.
>"Heaven or hell"
>reincarnation or the void
Shitty afterlife is shitty.
>That elevator end
Decim confirmed for messing with fate.
>NoisyCell doing the ED
FUCK YEAH, I LOVED BARAKAMON'S ED. FUCK YES.
Seems like she did. Otherwise, her getting kicked into the void doesn't make much sense.
Him getting all distrustful was because he was rightly catching on to her cheating the whole time.
Did she make all that shit up because the husband couldn't deal with the shame of murdering his own kid, so she went to hell for him, or did she actually cheat on him and make that shit up about having a friend?
reminder for people who have ADHD that she was actually cheating on him
As I understood it, it's only for pairs of people with unresolved circumstances. It gives them a chance to come to terms with things and discover their true self.
Of course the setting is a work of fiction which was chosen to keep things interesting for the audience.
I'm only watching this and Jojos right now though
This has nothing to do with what I would do. As others have said, this is about exposing who these people are. When push comes to shove, this dude would smack around his wife to make himself feel better.
PUT YOUR HANDS UP
The OP makes me want to dance.
And then what about this scene?
Yes she cheated on him, but the husband's accusations were probably false. She loved him and the child was his. The reason she admitted the whole deal in that exagerated way was to help her husband who would be devastated if he knew the real truth. This is probably the reason she went to the void as this is a good thing in buddhism.
Yeah, that pissed me off as well. Not to mention one flippant unconfirmed comment was enough to make him drive them off a cliff, as unintentional as it was. That jealous fucker would have done something sooner or later even if they didn't crash. I get the feeling that he may have been an abusive husband in general, the way he talked to her (even if the situation may have been justified) hinted at a familiarity, that he's laid into her like that before.
Honestly if it weren't for that shot of her cheating I would have assumed she didn't cheat on him at all, that perhaps the 'other man' was who her husband used to be before he grew paranoid and jealous. But I double checked and the decor was different. I think it is worth noting though that the 'other person' in both situations are sitting on the right side of the bed messing around with their phone. Perhaps they're trying to parallel the situation and it really is her husband.
Stop thinking this is about the western concept of heaven and hell. If it is really about ressurection and disappearing into the void, it's more like getting a second chance and ending your life in satisfaction. Noone really loses.
She could have been punished, sent to some sort of hell, or the mask means something I don't know.
It's not really the point of my post, which is to point out this is not a Christian/western show, people should watch it keeping this mind.
And for people who think she didn't cheat, she still threw darts at him during the game. They were subconsciously throwing darts at each other because they hated the other. That's the point of the game, for them to bear their souls. She probably regretted cheating on him but there was something that pushed her to another man. Her husband is a doctor, he probably overworked and neglected her.
She spilled it all out at the end because she knew she deserved the worst fate over her husband. She wanted to save her husband but she didn't make up that she was cheating just to do so.
There were things wrong with both of them and nobody was really right in the end, just some people were more wrong.
Also pic related.
Not that anon. But thats wrong for most cases in asian mythology.
Becoming one with the world ghost/breath/thingy and breaking free from the circle of reincarnation is actually a goal that people want to achieve.
>she still threw darts at him during the game
Once because they didn't know they were real
Once because she was hurt
Once because the guy made her do it
This is coming from someone who thinks she cheated on him.
NOT IN THE ASS
That last throw that him in the heart didn't look very subconscious though. Throwing from that position with that force is basically ridiculous. But if you assume it's intentional everything makes sense.
I implied no such thing, but you're seriously saying that because he made a mistake while driving that he's a wife beater?
Getting worked up because you just took a dart to the heart and had the reveal that you just killed yourself, your wife AND your unborn child, only to have your wife mock you doesn't mean you were chris brown all along
Dude wasn't a paragon (should've said something beforehand instead of trying to just ignore it until he couldn't take it anymore), but you're trying to make him out way worse than he is
This. Neither of them were 100% wrong or right and they weren't blessed or punished for what they did. One of them lets go, the other doesn't, and their fates are decided accordingly.
Would actually be interesting if the guy or some other character that gets resurrected comes back and learns something from their new life, perhaps escaping the cycle in the process.
Most of the time life was pretty shitty for people. That is why religions became a thing. So after you die things get better.
Jesus gets you into kingdom of heaven.
Allah gives you pussy and all kinds of stuff.
Odin drinks beer with you all day.
And for that matter you break the cycle of reincarnation into shitty ass lives and start becoming one with all things. Thats not really idiotic.
>But losing everything that is you, every memory of all the good times in life is a bad thing. It would be different if those stayed but you literally just end.
How's that any different from reincarnation? You lose with both, but at least with the void you don't go through all that shit only to die and be sent to the game table again.
Because neither of them were good enough for the nirvana so she went to a hell to purify herself while the guy wasn't able to let things go so he's sent back?
She escaped samsara but still has to pay for her bad actions.
Yeah they have, but we are talking about Death Parade. That one girl even said she went to the void, so resurrection should be the counter part to it. Well have to wait for more episodes to shed light upon this.
>And for that matter you break the cycle of reincarnation into shitty ass lives and start becoming one with all things. Thats not really idiotic.
Yes it is, because it implies that
- reincarnating into something besides shitty medevial farmer is impossible
- there is literally never any joy or enjoyment at all to be had in such an existence, which would've meant that everyone would've killed themselves and japanese people would've exist
Technically, you don't really go through that shit again since your memories are wiped and you're given a new body. At most there's maybe some guy with a personality like yours.
It's a shitty end both ways.
Not that anon but he did you guys read his post? The point was not to see thing in black and white. i think the anime was trying to do the same. Humans are assholes, but they differ in how they carry themselves.
We discussed this in the last thread. She did cheat but she lied about not loving him and the baby not being his. She wanted to take on his guilt for killing her unborn child so she made herself out to be the bad guy. That's why we don't see her face before she goes off on him and why Ginko was so surprised about the way she was acting. The whole I'm a crazy bitch thing was just a charade, that's why she went to the void.
I liked Death Billiards. I was hoping for it to get an anime.
I like this show. I'm looking forward to this Parade, pun intended.
His suspicious, jealous behaviour based on his misinterpretation of the bathroom conversation probably drove a wedge between them and led to her cheating.
Doesn't make it right but it's still sad it went down that way.
how can the kid be his if they never have sex?
>His suspicious, jealous behaviour based on his misinterpretation of the bathroom conversation probably drove a wedge between them and led to her cheating.
but they specifically point out that he wasn't letting it show, and that she was cheating on him before he found out
Not him but their arument is actually valid. You have to determine first if the flashbacks are the truth or just fabricated. But because noone denies that the husband's flashback are anything but the truth, the same should hold true for the wive's one.
tldr, she probably cheated, but everything is ambigous in this show so who knows.
Looking again, now it looks like she may have cheated but didn't love the other guy. And she just bullshitted and played along when she lost her temper too.
Without being able to confirm this shit about the void and reincarnation, it's hard to say.
It's ok to believe what you want, it was done like this so people can discuss and interpret it. That said, do you really believe that everything shown to you is real? it's a visual medium, they can show a "story in the story" even if it's a lie and the narrator knows, first example that comes to mind is Imprint form Masters of horror.
Science. He is a doctor after all.
Probably no point in asking but were you ever in a relationship where one partner was suspicious at the other? Yeah you don't say anything to her face but you sure as hell don't love her the same as before. It's like hating your boss but you sure ain't telling him he is an asshole.
I think it's worth noting that her face is pointedly hidden here, and she isn't shown chilling out and enjoying herself.
So they're intentionally not playing up the "gold-digger who has someone else's child and doesn't love her husband" angle.
I like how Death Billiards is already a better show for discussion than Yuri Bear. Ikuhara's writing style can get pretentious at some times.
>that she was cheating on him before he found out
He never found out. He found out about something else. Whether she cheated first, or he started suspecting her because of the misunderstanding first wasn't made clear unless I missed something.
>Probably no point in asking but were you ever in a relationship where one partner was suspicious at the other?
I have, but that has nothing to do with anything
Because she was already cheating on him before he found it, so your point of "him being jealous drove her to it" is total horseshit
>Ikuhara's writing style can get pretentious at some times.
There was quite literally nothing 'pretentious' about the writing in YKA's first episode. In fact, it was relatively straightforward if somewhat clunky, vague terminology aside.
>but they specifically point out that he wasn't letting it show, and that she was cheating on him before he found out
Clamy down stable boy. My comment was on this part anyway.
Also, where did they say whe the cheating exactly began?
>Without being able to confirm this shit about the void and reincarnation, it's hard to say.
it was confirmed, watch the end.
Actually reincarnation is a bad thing, and following to the Void is a good thing cuz it is what behind this world, its true nature.
If u dont unerstand smth u can ask, but Girl is confirmed for being good after all.
it depends on which sect of buddhism. Some Buddhism does have places that are straight up equivalents of heaven, sometimes the Void refers to how the universe was at the start before the gods got to work on it, sometimes the Void is a state of mind, and sometimes it refers to a place.
The thing is that people mix these things up or sometimes people just parrot others and don't know what they're talking about.
I can't even find the word they're using for void. Can't make out the sounds worth a damn.
I think I hear a kyo but none of the words fit.
Not necessarly, I think she's sad about the entire conflict between that married couple
Staying in /a/: emotions, actions, consequences. There is no beginning to this cycle but that it can be ended through perceiving reality.
Watching anime: in the Buddhist tradition, anime is described as the extinguishing of the fires (flaming) that cause suffering.
>You can only enter the bar with someone else
Buckle up you fucks. Someone of you is coming with me.
what game are we going to play?
I'm sorry it doesn't involve cute girls doing cute things, anon.
WHERE IS MY PEANUTS ANIME MADHOUSE??
FOR WHAT REASON DID YOU ACQUIRE THE LICENSE IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA USE IT??
Husband was suspicious of his wife cheating on him, but never had any concrete evidence
Wife actually cheated, but still loved him in the end and the child was the husband's
Husband gets reincarnated due to him being unable to move on and accept his wife cheating on him.
Wife gets sent to the void because she is able to move on
Did I understand the general jist of the episode correctly?
Death Parade -> Desperate
A deliberate pun or just a coincidence?
The people are in a desperate situation so I guess it fits.
And forgot my image.
Just how I like 'em
>I'm sorry it doesn't involve cute girls doing cute things, anon.
But you're fucking wrong.
I think it looked silly because there was not enough time for the audience to be attached to the man. Had we come to that point after like 12 episodes the situation would have been different. The point was that he was pretty much at his all time low but it's not like I could have given any shits about that since I had only known the character for 10 minutes.
