Currently living on campus at my uni and theyve been known crack down to crack down hard on any piracy they see. I could get my own router and ISP if I really wanted but I think I can deal with it for a semester
I use one because Germany has been really cautious when it comes to torrenting in the past few years.
It's not exactly uncommon here that piratefags get sued and it may be only a matter of time until they're actively going after anime too.
I don't think they would use ressources on someone because they downloaded seasonal unlicensed chinese cartoons.
Then again, I'm not german. I don't know how things work there.
Another germanfag here, this is news to me.
Nobody I know ever got sued or just got a letter from his ISP for downloading shit.
And why would anyone here care about anime anyway?
99% of anime doesn't even get licensed here in germany. Who would bother when nobody is trying to sell that shit here?
You support crooks who don't have any right to profit from other people's works. It's no different from buying bootleg DVDs.
I honestly don't care if someone watches CrunchyRoll streams. At least they're official.
>99% of anime doesn't even get licensed here in germany.
Not only that but most people are watching stuff that currently airs. German companies don't even know about these until months later, not to mention that the only thing they'd care about are actual rips of the German BD anime versions but nobody needs German dub and all this shit.
OP here. I have tried torrents but I don't understand how to use them, yeah. But I also see nothing wrong with streaming HD on a good laptop with good WiFi. No buffering and regardless of whether or not downloads look slightly better, it's still good quality.
Sysadmin for a large university here.
We (and basically everyone else) only care about unauthorized filesharing if we get a DMCA notice because of it (since we're basically an ISP they get sent to us and we're supposed to forward them once we've identified the person who did it). We don't sit and stare at the squid logs or something looking for bittorrent packet headers or something equally autistic.
Also relevant: a while ago, I did some analysis of >10k DMCA notices received over the past several years. As far as I can tell, there have been zero notices related to anime in any way. You're perfectly safe.
Highly valid point. Ad profiteers are human refuse.
If you wanted a reaction image thread, you should have just asked for one, retard.
>I have tried torrents but I don't understand how to use them, yeah.
How is that even possible? I mean, my own technological know-how is shamefully subpar, certainly below the average for people of my generation, and I've not problem with torrents.
Nowadays you can start downloading an episode, go take a dump and watch it because it's already downloaded.
Come on it's not like we're still in the age of shit connection.
>i'm completely fine with a flash player that uses shitty cheap algorithms to scale to full screen and take 40% of my CPU
Get out. Try seeing something with madVR enabled. Just try.
I stream because I don't trust torrents, and if I like what I streamed ill just go out and buy it if there's a us release. That way I'm supporting the companies and the industry. You're all a bunch of torrenting leeches. Get mad faggots
>and if I like what I streamed ill just go out and buy it if there's a us release.
I didn't know buying weeb shit was a stream-excusive activity. Should I be worried about the stream police breaking down my door if I buy something I like after torrenting it?
>buy it if there's a us release. That way I'm supporting the companies and the industry
>actually knowing that
Next I bet you'll try to defend the use of reddit itself.
I torrent english subbed animu only and never had problems. You only get trouble torrenting movies, music and some games.
>Nobody I know ever got sued or just got a letter from his ISP for downloading shit.
Do you live in a basement? It's not uncommon here at all
I have a question
I'm currently looking to download Oreimo season 2. I watched the first season back in 2011 and never followed it up. The only torrent I can find, on Nyaa, has 5 seeders and is an unofficial batch.
Is there a better torrent, or do I just have to wait? It's going to take 6 hours, but time isn't too much of an issue as long as it's done before I go on holiday (in approx 36 hours).
I really wish I could download more anime. If there's ever a series I really like, I'll download it so I can watch it again. However, my Internet connection is absolute shit. So shit that I can only watch anime with any reasonable speed in 360p. So shit it takes me a day to download a 12-episode series in 720p. If it were any better, I would download. I hate being a streamfag.
Thanks, I didn't realize you guys had a wiki. I don't frequent this board.
My friend who also watched Season 1 said the same thing, but I think it's best to give it a go at least.
I'm surprised it's on such an old p2p system.
Thank you. I imagine this will start a bunch of shitposting, but is Commie or Horriblesubs a 'better' subteam?
You do realize that you can stream the torrent and watch it as you download right? Since most anime is around 23 minutes long, you should have no problems doing this. You are just retarded.
I remember way back when I would load anime episodes on youtube over my dialup connection.
Sadly because third world, anime VHS/VCD, even bootleg were impossible to come by. The only VHS/VCD I ever found in local market was Ghibli stuff.
>but is Commie or Horriblesubs a 'better' subteam?
Are you new here?
Horriblesubs just rips from Crunchyroll shit. They are fast but the subs are meh.
Commie has good subs but sometimes they decide to "troll". If an anime is finished, you should use releases from e.g. Coalgirls. They have the best quality.
>it's not memes
Yes it is. Also why is it that you faggots have to have an aneurysm over someone streaming? I mean i use torrents and download anime and know streaming isn't the best way to enjoy anime but why would i care? It's like you're eating perfectly cooked lobster on a gold plate while someone else is eating some cheap 2 dollar taco in the comfort of their own house. Why the fuck should you care? Just enjoy you're superior experience and let idiots or the people who can't afford internet do what ever the fuck they want. Jesus christ the elitism here makes me cringe so much.
I thought we're calling them out to make them leave, not so that they quit streaming. Who would want a baby who is too retarded or incapable to strive for the better in their community.
Lol u mad, lololololol, yes of course I'm mad. I'm mad by the fact that you think you can tread in here with your dirty boots reeking of underage b& and Gaia, and I'm even more mad that /a/nons around here aren't doing shit to correct it.
See, this is why /a/ is so fucking shit. Just get the fuck out and stop adding to the cancer.
/a/, this is the result of your lax attitude towards newfags. In the past, we would collectively put down these faggots. But now, you just let them be, and now they think THEY can put down the true population of /a/. This is what happens when you don't take an active stance in correcting these newfags, and I hope you don't complain when this place falls into a shithole even deeper than the one we already have.
As I said, I don't frequent this board. The only time I've seen Coalgirls was for Angel Beats, and in those subs I noted that they modified the characters speech to appear as if they are ghetto dwellers. But I have seen that their video quality in general seems to be better.
Go fuck yourself.
I stream, because its faster. I dont need any program to do it (torrent) and i dont need to wait. It doesnt even buffer (maybe my internet is good enough or something like that) So if i decide that i want to watch a episode it takes less than 10 seconds to do so (including going to kissanime and such).
>I hate being a streamfag
Heh, why do you hate yourself because of that? Don't listen to what people here said if you think they're not suit you. Remember, they're just some people that maybe you don't even known/met in your whole life.
By the way, this thread make me wondering if "freedom of expression" or whatever is just some bullshit idea in society.
with xdcc you can just start watching it right away as it downloads, why wait?
xdcc subscriptions and rss feeds should be mentioned in there
love getting my anime automatically DL for me without even having to run anything other than an irc client which I always am running anyways to chat with mates..
People can improve. I should know. I also streamed and asked for sources at first. But with time, after getting yelled at enough, I improved and learned, and now I'm doing the yelling.
if only you left and didn't come back
we don't exist merely to spoonfeed faggots who aren't willing to put in even five seconds of their time to google yet will make a post on an imageboard asking for help instead.
First I'd like to say that I don't use reddit, but that one time the CEO of CR answered questions there and got rekt by Daiz, I went there and after looking around a bit found out that any mention of torrents or even unofficial streaming sites gets you banned. Thought that was interesting.
I don't know if you meant me or not but I'd like to clear up that I am not a streamfag.
I've been waiting five hours now. I prefer local files too.
I haven't streamed anime since 2008 on youtube but this looks, fairly decent? They rip from horriblesubs and seem to have a few other options for subs when it comes to movies, It takes less than five seconds to close all the surrounding ads, the audio is also excellent.
The only downside is the watermark on the top left for screencaps.
Streaming can be done right and wrong.
I know, anon. I'm no streamer myself, but honestly there isn't much to hate here. The visual and audio quality is superb, i'm finding myself more accepting of streaming in general. I rarely use the playback or encoding options, occasionally i'll make Webms with the downloads I have but thats about it. I'm starting to see a few advantages to streaming I didn't see before, before you jump at me i'll try to explain. To start off, it works well as a one time thing, its high quality and immediately available for lookup, there are disadvantages related to producing content like Gifs and Webms but other than that its pretty decent for watching and doesn't require organizing your hardrives. It serves its purpose pretty well, after the experience is over there won't be very much of a change between the streaming experience and the player experience. If you chose to move on after watching an episode of something streaming requires nothing after the viewing experience either.
>To start off, it works well as a one time thing, its high quality and immediately available for lookup [...] and doesn't require organizing your hardrives.
You mean, just like torrents?
You didn't really mention any advantages, anon.
It's easier to say "I'm just lazy, I mean, you can't automatise anime downloads, right?" or something as dumb as that. No one really gives a damn if you stream, just keep it to yourself and stop spreading lies.
When I said immediately available I was talking about the time required to obtainable the full functioning video. Also If you don't organize your hardrives you're just sloppy.
>Only if you're deaf and blind.
It looks clean and sounds very clear
here's a fullscreen version of the previous cap. I'm watching it in 1080p, that includes sound quality.
I literally have no need to download my anime, I just stream new episodes and never watch them again. 1080p on kissanime is fine for me, I don't give a shit about slightly better quality audio or video. I don't have shit Internet so buffering is never a problem, I have adblock too. Try to find a reason why I should torrent.
Kissanime devs used to advertise their site at some point when they achieved "HD" streaming quality and "changed the way of watching anime" or something along those lines.
Whatever the case, the shitposting was intense.
>here's a fullscreen version of the previous cap. I'm watching it in 1080p,
>that includes sound quality.
To be honest my download speed isn't very good. A 1080p movie thats a little over an hour long takes 15-20 minutes to torrent. I'll still do it though, i'm too stubborn in my old habits.
>A 1080p movie thats a little over an hour long takes 15-20 minutes to torrent. I'll still do it though, i'm too stubborn in my old habits.
Thats pretty average, in my country it takes over an hour to torrent from HS 720.
To all you stream faggots:
I was stuck with crappy 4mb internet, a chromebook and a 500gb external for all of last summer.
If I can setup mad-vr etc and XDCC-enabled IRC on a chrooted linux environment, you faggots with decent internet and windows can do it too.
(btw, the intel chromebooks handle filters better than expected, so gg google)
Seriously, why do people cope with their shit tier system? I suppose they like to use their community/forums because there's no way you could stand the ads that popped up like a year ago, it was like a honeypot of pop-ups (I think you could still block them, but it's still an abomination of a site).
>not knowing how to to torrent
>not knowing how to use XDCC
/a/ is dead
I know how to torrent but have accepted that streaming has improved during the last half a decade. /a/ is not dead because a few anons prefer HD streaming. What kills /a/ is terrible discussion quality, baiting, shitposting, and general crossborders.
It's a basic line you get for free where I live. You also get a basic pack of tv-channels. Upgrading it is ridiculously expensive, and since I don't really need a faster line..
Instead you get a watermark on every vid! Isn't that amazing. If they change their filters you'd still need to update yours or manually remove divs, and that's retarded, I could be watching anime that finished autodownloading while I was doing something else.
It has always been like this, but nowadays devs try to advertise their shit sites; well, that has stopped for now, considering kiss anime is the only site that tries to do this shit.
>Instead you get a watermark on every vid! Isn't that amazing
Its pretty transparent and miniscule, but if its a serious problem for you, you don't have to stream. Its pretty small for a watermark and hidden, i'd end up ignoring it after five minutes judging from this pic.
These guys didn't accept that streaming was quality inferior when megavideo was a thing (because you have the HD option!) and they are not going to accept that it still is (because 1080p! not even fansubs release 1080p!).
Hell, even this thread proves that /a/ isn't a hivemind, people still stream (if you'd be strict, most people stream nowadays because of CR).
I'd get distracted by the artifacts, so no thanks.
If its a fact, it must be incredibly easy to prove, right?
Take a screencap of some compression particles, but make sure to include the time in the video so I can double check to make sure you aren't lying.
Also make sure the setting is on 1080p, i'll be able to tell if its not.
>make sure the setting is on 1080p
Let's talk about the only actual benefit CR has over downloading: the ability to update the .ass track. While the HS bot scrapes the initial subs, CR streamers can end up watching a v10 script with fixes and suggestions reported by viewers.
Can you imagine a feedback-loop like this working for fansubs? What about your .mkv file being able to point to a repo where updated scripts live? Would you even want this?
It's just like that time some anon mentioned that a site streamed "mkvs"
Never change guys.
>Can you imagine a feedback-loop like this working for fansubs? What about your .mkv file being able to point to a repo where updated scripts live? Would you even want this?
This might be nice, but major mistakes are usually fixed on BD releases so it doesn't really matter when you're archiving.
Crunchyroll's quality is astonishing.
Get a subscription fags.
The torrented Horrible Subs version has the same problem, tho
No. This simply isn't true.
I stream due to certain circumstances but when I have downloaded it, it was glorious.
>Tfw Downloaded entire Highschool DxD series and just comfied up for the day.
That's what I do. I usually sleep. Here's how bad it is, though. It took me an hour to torrent a single 720p episode last week. This is what happens when your parents refuse to pay for internet and have kept the same speed since 2003.
It's played havoc with determining when I watched a series, too. I can't look at when the files were downloaded.
Does anyone know how to change the renderer settings in MPC with madVR installed?
When I'm working outside of town for weeks I only have my 30kb/s internet I got from work which need restart every fucking hour so I can't even leave it for the night, with this shit I can download 2-4 episodes per day and shitpost on 4chin all I want, step fucking up faggot because your complying make me sick.
>inb4 spoonfeeding fuck off
I use the mpc-hc player for mkv files.
I download with nyaa.
I extract with torrent pro.
Now that you have everything you have no reason to complain. Seriously this is not hard.
Huh, its under the LAV filters instead of madVR. Thanks again anon.
You are forced to watch a stream of the sub or a download of the dub.
What do you do?
Download the dub, mute it, start the stream at the same time you start the downloaded dub, but resize the window until only the subtitles show and put the window in the right place. The only problem is really that most streaming sites will only play at 1x speed, so you can't watch at 1.25 or 1.5x like a lot of people do.
