He's more or less confirmed alive as of the latest manga chapter. Kaito Corbeau is actually Kuroba. The anime also showed hint of it in this episode - Kaito's mom mentioned that someone is 'interested' at her and she's currently at Paris and you can figure out the rest (they also showed silhouette of Kaito Corbeau during first episode).

Tecnically, Kid and Conan always come to some form of draw or standstill, same as Conan and Lupin in their two crosspover movies.

Conan usually stops Kid from carrying out whatever he wanted to do, but can't manage to catch him, usually cause Kid's half of the Conan-verse plays by looser physics/cartoony-er physics so he can do impossible things.

Either way, it's usually moot because Conan usually figures out that whatever Kid wants to steal won't harm anyone (like when they first crossed paths when Conan was still Shinichi and he just gave up and let him get away after exposing and busting Kid's ruse). Either that, or both Conan and Kid get caught up in some actual murderer's game and don't have time to match wits.

In one of the comparatively earlier Conan stories somewhere in the early 200's episode wise and between volume 25 and 30 I think somewhere in the manga Conan totally would have caught and busted Kid and Kid was literally shown to not have seen it coming, but the culprit that Conan had already caught went so far and to fake suicide in order to serve asd a distraction for Kid to get away, which no one saw coming (cause it came out of nowhere to save Kid from getting caught().
