Why does Japan think incest is okay? It's been popping up quite a bit lately. (Oreimo, Irregular at Magic School, SAO [Well, cousins there, but raised as siblings])
Just noticed all of them are from Dengeki, maybe they are the ones pushing it...
because when modern women, backed by fucked up marriage laws, can be worse than the most ravenous of demons, people will look for safe relationships that they can always depend on.
>fucked up marriage laws
Yeah but Japan wasn't and isn't christian. Didn't japanese people just sleep around all the time or whatever? Without a monogamous judeo-christian marriage how does a society enforce the concept of monogamy?
I saw this one live action movie about France, it was based around when cinema was getting huge and this American student went there to do stuff. He ended meeting this french chick and her brother and lived in their fancy ass house for like months because their parents were loaded and just left them a check and bailed for some vacation. Anyway a lot of stuff happened and all I really remember is he nailed the guys sister on the kitchen floor while her brother cooked them breakfast in the same room, and after they all slept together in a tent inside a bedroom the chick tried to suicide gas them all to death with the stove but they all woke up because of the french rioting. They all ran outside and the brother and sister started throwing rocks at the police and the American guy was like fuck this shit and just walked away. The movie ended right there, it was pretty cool 9/10.
>chick and her brother and lived in their fancy ass house for like months because their parents were loaded and just left them a check and bailed for some vacation
Just like in my Japanese anime.
It's legal in most countries. In Japan you can't marry a sibling, but it's perfectly legal to have sex with them. Which is how gays and lesbians can legally inherit and become next-of-kin by being adopted by their partner's parents.
>Without a monogamous judeo-christian marriage how does a society enforce the concept of monogamy?
Because humans are monogamous (if cheating bastards) by nature. You don't need to enforce anything.
It's a mixed system.
We're like birds who form pairs to build nests but also cheat on one another for a little genetic diversity if possible. It's not just random sleeping around with the first mate you see.
>Why does Japan think
Norma in Japan usually don't think incest is ok, not that there's anything wrong with incest in most cases. Just because a small amount of anime features something doesn't mean all of Japan likes it. OP why didn't you mention any anime in which incest is portrayed in a negative light? Could it be you're an Anime Expert who has seen over 20 animes (not counting movies)?
That is only a tiny amount.
There are probably 10s of anime about incest.
Probably 100s of manga.
Surely 1000s as porn.
This is not new. It's been going on for decades.
Simply because you notice something doesn't mean you discovered it.
I'm so mad that there is no such thing as opposite-sex identical twins.
there is nothing wrong with incest
even germany agrees with them, wtf is wrong with you??
I just pulled the bird analogy from Cosmos.
Better question, why people think it is wrong? aside of the danger of increase on recessive traits from constant inbreeding, I don't see why the love between a man and a woman would be wrong in any way, related or not.
The definition of "sex" gets somewhat fuzzy.
Identical twins have the same DNA, (which can cause problems for CSI). So judging purely by XX or XY chromosomes, identical twins will be the same sex.
However, environmental factors (such as hormone levels) during a fetus's development can result in the wrong sex organs. In such a case the resulting person is usually sterile. But this means judging by the presence/absence of a penis/womb may yield a different answer than the above XX / XY check.
A reminder that sibling incest is dynastically nonsensical. Unless your father is god damn Lear, your sister will never have territory or influence that you do not have yourself. If you have to be incestuous, either go with your cousin or your mother, and the latter only if you aren't the heir apparent already.
For many people, incest is pretty gross.
But for a sizable (but generally quiet, because of the stigma) amount of people, it's something they're interested in. With animu being a lot of wish fulfillment, of course it'll get shown on screen.
inb4 that study that says if you were raised with someone you can't want to fuck them - it's true for many people, but not all. Trust me.
Look guys, the only problem with incest is reproduction and genetic stagnation. Non reproductive incest is perfectly fine; bjs, anal, birth control, etc...
it was never a morality thing; if you have a babby with a relative, theres a good chance that the kid will b a tard, not that god will smite you, just that you will have brought a frail hemophiliac tard into the world to care for, which is nothing. but a burden.
remember boys n girls; incest is 100% cool as long as no pregnancy results from it
There's wincest in a lot of mythology. Greco-roman mythology has a lot of incest as well, iirc. And there's the whole "who the fuck did Cain and Abel have sex with if their mom was the only woman alive" shit.
>Look guys, the only problem with incest is reproduction and genetic stagnation. Non reproductive incest is perfectly fine; bjs, anal, birth control, etc...
>remember boys n girls; incest is 100% cool as long as no pregnancy results from it
Tell that to the royalty of various European kingdoms for, like, hundreds of years.
They really shit the bed there. Wasn't it the Hapsburgs who ended up with all their children being hemophiliacs? Or was it a different branch of royalty?
"incest is wrong" is a socially accepted fact, and the reason why is plain and simply historic as humans long ago realized that fucking your siblings repeatedly resulted in bad offspring, and so it became scorned.
In modern society where we can separate the act of sex and actual procreation, there's nothing actually wrong with fucking your sibling, but it's simply a societal norm to think it's unacceptable due to the history behind it.
well that was more a product of the feudal system where they wanted to consolidate the blood of the aristocracy; not enough genetic diversity in the traversible area between groups of nobles; I dont know the exact numbers, itd provably be fine now a days with hundreds of thousands of heads of state of varying stature and superpower ngo key personnel + air travel. simply not possible with horse drawn carriages and sailboats
>well that was more a product of the feudal system where they wanted to consolidate the blood of the aristocracy; not enough genetic diversity in the traversible area between groups of nobles
Oh, I know - I just think it's absolutely hilarious that, like, half of the kingdoms of Britain/France/all of the various German countries/Spain/etc. were more or less related because they married cousins/daughters/etc, their own and the other nobles'.
>inb4 that study that says if you were raised with someone you can't want to fuck them - it's true for many people, but not all. Trust me.
But that doesn't disprove incest. It just shows that there are biological safeguards against it, not that the safeguards are infallible.
Because in anime every girl has to be MC's cockslave even his sister.
Nekofag tears are absolutely delicious.
Swirly glasses would have made most sense based if the whole point of this wasn't the brother sister thing and if it was actually built before the hackneyed as fuck harem in S2 in which none of the relationships made any sense.
Personality-wise. Which is why I said
>if it was actually built before the harem
The two of them could go along very well but that opportunity was sidestepped throughout the entire show 'till it was harem time.
Honestly I'd read the LN if it weren't for my already massive backlog, uni shit and the knowledge that there are probably hundreds of much better books about fixing cold broken relationships with family members and then dicking them.
>Dengeki is pushing incest
Out of curiosity, do any other of their series portray incest in a positive light? (Actually, even in SAO it wasn't exactly "positive")
That's a retarded argument, as the chance for birth defects to occur in the offspring of siblings is only negligibly higher than the chance of offspring in non-sibling relations. It only becomes a problem after multiple generations. A problem can also occur between parent-child relationships, but we're not talking about those anyways.
The Judeo-christian marriage isn't the original concept of monogamy though. Plenty of cultures in the past were monogamous without the influence of these religions.
The only difference is how judeo-christian view sees all sexual interactions as sinful (and punishable by death), if not done with someone you've already chosen as your life partner, who you will stay with until you die.
>which is how gays and lesbians can legally inherit and become next-of-kin by being adopted by their partner's parents.
Like in SAO, how Sugou couldn't technically marry Asuna, so he was being adopted into the family.
Identical twins carry the same DNA. Thus, are always the same gender.
Now, it's completely "possible" for fraternal twins to share all their DNA, except that one has a Y-chromosome, but then it's also completely possible for two non-twin siblings to be born with the same similarities.
The chances of it are just so abysmally nil, that you may as well try to give birth to someone with the same DNA as you by banging your mother.
He's trying to put incest in the context of doing incest in order to gain some kind of power within the family. It's completely useless information in our modern day, though.
I really am not convinced those are "safeguards against incest", but rather "incentives for diversity", which aren't really the same, but achieve a similar effect.
