I have a proposal for P2P distributing hentai. First of all, I think using a brand new P2P system to handle this is too much work and will never get off the ground. We should just re-use existing torrent resources that everyone is familiar with and go with the simplest solution.

It will be extremely costly to build a cluster that will mirror the actual image content of sadpanda. The site already cost $100k/year (and that's an old figure) to run, and that's not even counting the huge H@H network that serves up to 5 Gbit/s+ around the world. Note that the disk space of 20TB isn't THAT costly, but the issue is handling all the IO, so it'd require a lot of disks. The bandwidth is a bit costly too, as you'd need multiple truly unmetered 1 Gbps links. However, with a distributed torrent allocation method, we can spread the load around to volunteers and try to keep all torrents alive.

First, make a site that mirrors all of sadpanda's tags and possibly gallery thumbs. Then mirror the torrents (magnet links). Note that when galleries are taken down, the ehtracker still works and DHT works also, but the torrent file can't be downloaded. Some of them can be found on sukebei and others. This website is easy to make, won't be too resource-heavy, can be easily statically cached, and mirrored around to other hosts.

The problem is that many of the older torrents are not well seeded. We can recruit people with the disk space to keep them well-seeded. We can systematically allocate ranges of galleries to different people with some duplication in order to keep all the content redundantly available. Optionally, we can make some sort of system to remove crap torrents or duplicates based on group vote to save file space.

For new content that is disallowed on sadpanda, allow uploading new torrents or something.
