Why haven't they made a good war anime without all the obnoxious mecha shit.
I've wondered about this for a while. So many mecha shows feature civil war and the effects it has on people. There's great drama there but it always has to feature fucking giant robots. Is this just to sell merchandise?
I'd watch an anime on the current crisis in Ukraine. Cute Russian girls doing Russian things.
Jormungand was ok and it had modern weaponry, but it's not really a war anime.
if we had mecha, i'd give up on everything and join the army to pilot one.
The only thing I an think of is Code Geass, thats it.
The rest is robot wankery.
I want war in my anime.
Something thats BIG and WORLD WIDE, Code geass kinda did it alright, but ended up with robot wankery at s2
>cute girls doing cute things
then it wouldn't be a good war anime retard
>tfw I will never get my Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan type anime.
Sadly the only series I got is a manga about a slavic cute girl Solid Snake
though the end is shitty.
>Yuri-chan there's a dot on the oscilloscope, doushio~?
>wah, I jammed the height finder again
>Don't turn on the missile battery yet you baka they'll overheat before we get a firing solution!
>BAKA BAKA you shot down a civilian plane
Because Japan cannot grasp how cool tanks and jets are
I'm sorry you just have shit taste.
Warthogs are shit. Any fighter jet can carry mavericks and guided bombs fine, but do it much better and safer. Don't even go on about costs because the 30mm it fires is ridiculously expensive.
Get on my level.
Giant robot Jets >Giant robots > jets > tanks
But they did, try FLAG, Barefoot Gen, short peace, to name a few
There's that weird Korean chap who draws these.
Please don't make the same mistake I did. Delete that abomination from your computer and download the EG version of that. It's far, far better. A-S didn't even crop it right.
Enjoy a fictional monster that defies physics because you need to justify muh mecha?
We'd have oversized useless war machines?
A single plane could take those things out.
Might as well use artillery, the A-10 can't fill all roles we know that but it's still useful.
And I'm sorry it raped your mother so hard you sperg out every time it's mentioned.
You have no fucking idea. It's badass. The problem isn't bunnies, the problem is 1 episode.
I want a show where mechs get rekt like they would in real life
>Infantry in cities firing Erynx and CG's into ammo storage
>Tanks firing a single round into the legs, then catching the head with another 120mm blast as it goes down
>Infantry running into buildings as IFV's fire ATGW's into mech's hulls
>F/A-18F firing Mavericks into a mech from 20km away
Like the opening of Patlabor 2, but longer
You /k/ faggots always bitch that there are no realistic war anime but the second an anime tries to depict modern warfare, you always go autismally apeshit about some minuscule detail about guns or tanks or whatnot. I don't like realism in my chinese cartoons, it works much better that way, if you want realism, just watch TV shows.
what are you talking about, not once have I seen modern warfare in anime, besides modern weapons
So what you're saying is you want a series that has mecha around with no real justification for the mecha besides being pincushions. And you don't find this to be utterly retarded.
Nobody in the industry knows anything about how physics, the military or anything computer related works, ever. Even if they do they often don't care. That's why they're making tv/films after all.
Trigger warning do not click.
Most anime give mechs shit tier mobility that doesn't improve until MC gets a prototype (unless they start off with one, in which case it's just grunts who have to deal with not being able to turn on a dime).
Yeah, maybe not all out warfare, but even in the small skirmishes here and there (heck even in fucking AIRSOFT shows), you guys always whine about small details. /k/ is the most autismal board on 4chan, hands down, it is impossible to please you guys.
Back in the early '90's, there was a short OVA called Future War 198X which was pretty good, even if it was nothing but combat scenes.
It's also literally the only media I've ever seen that shows off Hellfires firing from 2+ kilometers out, actual ATGMs, etc.
If they made mechas shit, then the figures wouldn't sell, ruining the point of putting them in there in the first place
>Artillery has a max range of 30km at best
>Can't identify launchers, has to use outside recce
>Can't fire more than a few times without moving to avoid counterbattery
>Better than SEAD
the super hornet would like a word with you
/v/ pls go your trigger hatred is showing.
I love the Thunderbolt II, it's just a product of its time- that time being the late 1970's. It worked and it worked well in the 1980's when everyone had a strategy which revolved around Heavy Fighters, Light Multiroles, and Ground Attack aircraft. But with the paradigm shifting towards multiroles, it's becoming out of date, and quickly. If you could spend the maintenance to keep a 'Hog and a Hornet running, or just two Hornets, which would you prefer to pay the bill for?
tfw there will never be an anime about a group of males, and females that go through the trial of becoming soldiers.
>Start out in basic and form strong bonds
>All fun and games for a bit
>War starts get Deployed
>Come back trying to adjust to civilian life
>Dealing with the friends they lost, or injuries they suffered.
Flying aircraft carriers belong back to the past where it and other silly ideas were allowed to flow freely.
Just cause the idea is old and silly doesn't mean it don't look cool.
/a/nons need weapons to protect their waifu and /k/ommandos need cute things to help themselves operate properly and stay pure.
How fucking boring was that? There's no human element at all. You spend three minutes watching various bits of military hardware destroy each other. If nothing else, the cinematography was atrocious.
An autist's vision of a perfect war anime.
>Japan is defending against a Russian invasion from Vladovistock
>They're forced to conscript women as well to supplement the ranks
>Main characters are in an all-female mechanized infantry battalion
>Show starts off in training and waiting to be deployed, it's basically cute girls with cute military stuff
>Halfway through they assemble for an offensive
>Show suddenly turns dark as the girls start to die
>IFV crew dies to a BMP-1's Malyutka
>FN MAG gunner gets shot in the neck
>Lt. is caught in a 500kg's explosion
>Everyone is replaced throughout the show
>Eventually only the MC is left of the original group
>Show ends as they're relieved by fresh recruits
It's only 30 minutes of a movie, but yeah, it basically mostly plays out like that. It's not good from a storytelling or emotional standpoint, but that's what both sides predicted a charge through the Fulda Gap would look like.
A-10 gun is an absolute inaccurate shit.
Sure, you can strafe unarmed sandniggers and then get rekt when your homevideo surfaces on wikileaks, but anybody organized would rape your shit.
Stop anon your making me sad knowing that will never happen..
But that's the beauty of it anon they can't really change anything. All they can do is hope there side wins, and they live.
Even the actual pilots of the A-10 released that, look at the coloring book
I can get behind that.
Will they have to execute slavs in the field?
>mmuh shit stealth
>mmuh one-plane vectoring
>mmuh supercruise that noone needs
>mmuh internal bays for two bombs
Laughable, especially if you understand that this flying bank will never fight anything and its real goal was to squander taxpayers` money.
Good fucking job Lockheed, Ben and Kelly are rotating like a good drill in their graves.
i dont know, is this good enough?
It`s not like other 5gen fare any better, to be honest. T-50 is in preliminaries, and China went off to do something closer to a bomber.
Sure, if you like characters being constantly killed in firefights, treated like disposable shit by their employer and then summarily executed or otherwise wiped off when series comes to an end.
Why? This is a war. They're one 30-man platoon in an army 230,000, fighting an army of 320,000, not including conscripts on a periphery front in a World War. What could they change?
Unsere Mutter, Unsere Vater. It's actually very different than that clip would imply, it's brutal and damns pretty much everyone involved with the war except the average men fighting it.
>Nips will always fuck up weaponry in anime
Maybe some day they will make something nice.
well this isnt like any other day at war, this is a story, and dont you want to make something bigger out of it?
It could be not just a regular kid in war, maybe a genius that has witnessed war and wants to make a change
There's a difference between hating mecha, and being rational enough to realize its also dumb as fuck
>tfw no anime about cute girls at a late 18th/early 19th century Military Academy
>tfw no Cavalry-chan who's always fired up and gung-ho, even if she isn't the smartest girl around
>tfw no Artillery-chan who's quiet and shy, but smart and more than able to do her fair share
>tfw no Infantry-chan, the Queen of Battle, a beauty who does her best at all she does
my life is suffering
Did he seriously run out on 3 ppsh in 20 meters here? It`s straight call of dooty level bullshit, instant disqualification from living.
This video is horrifying. I knwo they all ended up allright, but still.
So when I get into my car, I'm a mecha pilot?
>maybe a genius that has witnessed war and wants to make a change
That just sounds incredibly dull and boring. What's a more effective story, watching young girls get shown the horrors of war, or watching some supposed supergenius rant to us about the evils of war?
What I wouldn't give for a long-running manga or anime set in an early-mid 19th century world where two equally-matched nations are at war and, for one reason or another, all the fighting has to be done by teenaged girls. Of course, there would be futile charges, gory deaths, amputations, and general hardship galore. And as the war drags on and most of the older girls are killed or wounded, the new recruits would get younger and younger.
And the pages between chapters would contain the sort of info historifags love: weapon data, uniforms, flags, more detailed info on tactics and training, and updates on how things are going on the home front
She's all I need really.
Would you watch a show about cute train-girls sent to run the Thailand-Burma death railway?
And the pages between chapters would contain the sort of info historifags love: weapon data, uniforms, flags, more detailed info on tactics and training, and updates on how things are going on the home front.
Supergenius, presuming that he is shown as a powerless and naive lunatic that is fighting a doomed battle against the human nature, Bonus points if he either dies inglorious death or gets disillusioned.
I would love to see a bunch of young girls absolutely scarred shitless being ordered into a full charge against emplaced artillery. Knowing that they will die, but being unable to ignore their orders out of a mix of fear, pride, and resignation to their own deaths.
It would have to be Russia then, baring the Light Brigade most of their charges in that period were actually pretty effective. Unless you count a few fortress stormings as charges (Badajoz I'm looking at you).
>tfw no thin red line of adorable British standing firm against wave after wave of delicious brown Zulu girls, all while they sing LADIES OF HARLECH
Again, that sounds dull as all hell. You're telling the story of World War fucking 3, go and tell that story. Don't tell the story of some asshole who thinks he's better than everyone else.
>All the characters are replaced by cute girls
>Except for Sharpe, who is still the gruff, handsome officer who leads his ladies through hell and back
>And he's voiced by Sean Bean
Makes me sad because... I know it'll never happen...
>great battle skills
>victorious in each one
>becomes a commander
>finishing the war
Anon, I thought we were talking about semi-realism here, not horrible wish fulfillment?
I'd love to see a few regiments holed up in a fort and subjected to a months-long siege, accompanied by constant artillery bombardment, frequent infantry attacks by the other side, and occasional sorties by the defenders. The defenders would slowly be whittled down by disease and hunger, as well.
>there will never be an anime where the MC builds up his own mercenary business
>A cool, collected man whose only major difference from his troops is that he owns them
>things would be looking up when they start getting more and more contracts
>things will never turn south when a rival company/government they oppose wrecks their base
>MC will never be heavily scarred, sporting an eyepatch after the time skip
>he will never go from a nice everyman to unspeakable monster after it
>he will never ally himself with a foreign warlord
>he will never turn his best soldier and turn him into a cyborg ninja
>his merc company (under a new name) will never commit horrible war atrocities
>mass rapings, child soldiers, genocide, slavery, child porn, etc.
>also a Japanese idol's there for some reason
you're an idiot
special snowflake refers to tumblurites and trannies and shit that don't want to be ~sterotyped~
gary stu/mary stu means MC that is overpowered
literally they are never swapped
>Set in the South African Border War
>Tension between the cute Afrikaaners and delivious brown girls
So you want LOGH?
Mecha are perfect for fiction because they amplify the individual effect of a single person.
Real wars can do this also, through intel analysis, snipers, air support, etc; but even then it's a much more team-based activity.
Aside from the cyborg ninja shit you're describing Jormungand
Global rule 2?
Jesus your english is awful
JDAM comes with built-in inertial navigation in case GPS is spoofed, it has since it was invented.
>thread has now devolved into what is the definition of a stu
>There will never be an anime about Angry Belkans doing Belkan Things
>24 episodes following the stories of Belka's R&D team as they develop all sorts of wacky and impractically expensive superweapons for the government
Well it depends. A general? Fuck no, most generals are in their 60's. But Captains, Majors, Colonels? Yeah, those are in their 30's and 40's.
Still, just because you command a single battalion or division doesn't mean you can do much.
>thinking INS is inaccurate
>thinking ECM does anything against GPS
The bomb needs 4 connections to 4 different satellites to get coordinates, guess where the satellites are? That's right, above. Guess where the jammer is? That's right, not above.
Fuck off Belka, Aurelia rules here.
>all we'll ever know are those horrible, horrible dub voices
Some things just aren't fair
>All this aviation
Planes a shit, who here ground forces?
>Leo 2A4 upgrade kit that brings it to 2A6 standards
Who says nothing good comes out of Eurosatory any more?
I assume you mean a realistic war anime and not one where humanity bands together to battle against hordes of monsters. SnK and Black Bullet being the most recent examples to come to mind...
Sorry OP can't think of one.
>Defiling the name of Belka
>Insulting the 12,000 innocents who lost their lives to the Pillars of Belka
>Supporting an image made by thieves who stole Belka's land in its greatest hour of weakness and then waged war just to control their continent
Can't tell if bait, or summer
A real man's ride.
Sorry for the quality, the guy who took my picture had a camera older than the tank.
Can IFVs play?
How's the autoloader?
I was called for reserve duty.
If you want a pic were I really needed a haircut...
Why are historical tomboys so cute?
Ground units are not any better than mecha
Since all you need is a fucking home made bomb to blow it to pieces and send it flying. I'll just be cute tanks being blown up by cute bombs in the road
Let me tell you a story about the south-western lookout pillbox, located in the School for Combat Engineering somewhere in the middle of no-where, Israel.
I remember it like it was 2005. I was doing guard duty for no reason at all (as if there's a reason for anything you do in boot camp), when I decided to look at the local graffiti.
To my surprise, I discovered an offline bulletin board discussing anime. Naruto was a thing, and so were Bleach (but tbh they were both good at the time). Then some guy went on and on about how Trigun was the best thing EVAR, and some other guy called bullshit on that and said NGE was better.
It was all written with a sharpy on the rust covering the inside of a pillbox. Let that sink in.
(I'm the guy with the tank)
You are right. How dare they drag you all the way from Europe, force you to build your cities in the middle of their lands, and throw themselves infront of your bullets.
>there will never be an anime about the MC and his family and his grill friend being resistance fighters in Japan fighting the over whelming Chinese forces without the backing of the United States because the United States has plunged into civil war
>steal their land
>massacre their people
>fire rockets on civilian buildings
>use Palestinian children as shields
>fire on Palestinian children on beaches
yeah you sure are justified you fucking hook nosed jew
>steal their land
If you mean state property, the last owner of the Palestine/Israel area prior to Israel was the United Nations Mandate. The west bank belonged to Jordan, and Israel offered it back after the Yom Kippur war. Jordan refused. If you mean private land, settlements are all either built on vacated land or privately-owned Israeli land.
>massacre their people
I assume you missed the UNHRW report about finding rockets in a school? Are you really arguing people that would put rockets in a building explicitly built for young children would be unwilling to put them into civilian apartments?
>fire rockets on civilian buildings
Israel actually phones the building fifteen minutes before, drop leaflets and fire a dud into their ceiling five minutes before actually leveling the building.
>use Palestinian children as shields
Individual infractions are not reflective on overall IDF policy, which stands in contrast to Hamas.
>fire on Palestinian Children on beaches
a mistake currently being investigated, on a beach frequently used by militants to shoot rockets.
Gee, out of thousands of sorties they got only one and it took them about 70 days to take down an f-117. Makes me wonder how they didn't shoot down a B-2 spirit also. Too bad the SR-71 was too expensive, and it was replaced by cheap slow ass moving UAVs.
>Implying I wouldn't watch the shit out of that
Why are Third-Generation Wheeled IFVs so fucking based?
Yes I'm sure those illegal settlements are just actually legal and that they were run by palestinian drug plants
And lets not forget all the debunked claims that you've been firing at rocket installations like hotels full of reporters or police stations or hospitals
And all the times your soldiers have brutalized the palestinians
>How does it even fly with the wings on backwards?
Because the original manga was set in Vietnam. There was a famous unit during the war named dogshit one. When the manga was made the Viet Cong became cats so they named the manga Cat Shit One
Except they are nowhere near as good for immediate recon and blackbird could carry so much more in sensor equipment.
And useless CAS in useless afghan operations may be impressive to someone, but not a taxpayer with a functioning brain.
>Yes I'm sure those illegal settlements are just actually legal
private land =/= national land.
>And lets not forget all the debunked claims that you've been firing at rocket installations like hotels full of reporters or police stations or hospitals
Well if they've been debunked, what's the problem?
Israel has opened hospitals across crossings in Egypt and across the barrier, both of whom Hamas actively prevents patients from crossing. If you mean the el-Wafa hospital, it was in close proximity of a rocket launching site.
Because the social climate in Japan and political climate in East Asia makes it very difficult for something like that to be produced. China perceives all sorts of minor cultural shit in Japan as militaristic and it sparks real world violence against Japanese people.
However, since Japan is more or less confirmed remilitarization at this point, we're probably going to see more of this sort of thing in the near future.
Japan also gained a massive strategic advantage in the peace because America rebuilt their country for them, broke down zaibatsu monopolies, and then paid them fucktons of money to build ships for the conflict in Korea.
>tfw no cute dictators doing cute things anime
The Austro-Prussian war was fought by the German Confederation led by Prussia, and the Franco-Prussian War was fought by the German Empire, both of which were led by Prussia but which includes all of modern Germany.
>China perceives all sorts of minor cultural shit in Japan as militaristic
>China’s military media has been attracting ridicule in China and beyond after it published an article attacking bishoujo tanker anime Girls und Panzer for being secret Japanese militarist propaganda.
>The piece, originally published by a PLA affiliated military newspaper, criticised Girls und Panzer for downplaying Japanese wartime aggression in favour of cute girls, even going so far as to suggest it was intended as subtle militarist propaganda and might help train the tank crews Japan is obviously desperate to send rampaging through China.
>That your claim that those places were having missiles fired from them, was debunked.
. Mistakes are made when observing from the air, which is more than can be said of the enemy they're fighting.
>Meaning you've been firing on civilian installations full of people
Rockets also tend to be fired from civilian installations full of people.
Also since you donner munch scat freaks seem to be a little lacking upstairs, your frienly uncle Sam is going to drop some knowledge bombs on you.
Italy=/=the Roman Empire
Republic of Texas=/= United States of America
It's okay you can thank me later, I know you are busy slaving away for your Greek overlords right now.
Austria is not Germany. Just because they share a common language does not make them the same country. Austrians are Austrian, Germans are German.
Germany is the modern conglomeration of territory originally unified by Prussia. Prussians are a subset of German peoples. Saying Prussians are not German is like saying New Englanders are not American
>The German empire didn't form until the annexation of Alsace after the Franco-Prussian War.
No, Germany was formed on the 16th of April of 1871, and the war ended on the 10th of May, 1871 with the treaty of Frankfurt. The annexation of alsace did not occur until after that.
The Thirteen Colonies were not the United States of America. They became the United States of America when they became the United States of America
It's okay fritz, I know you have spent a long day bending over a bench so some turks can take turns making your their bum boy, so I am going to let you off easy.
Cheers on the soccer trophy, I am sure Merkin is going to be mighty proud to have it on her mantle
No, if Austria won the Brothers' war, they would have formed Greater Germany, either by annexation or as a confederation, like the earlier German confederation. Austrians are German until they lost the Brothers' war.
>Germany is the modern conglomeration of territory originally unified by Prussia. Prussians are a subset of German peoples. Saying Prussians are not German is like saying New Englanders are not American
Prussians were originally Baltic. It wasn't until Brandenburg uniting Prussia did they join the HRE and later form the German confederation.
Germany has existed since Roman times, just never unified until Prussia won the Brothers' War and the Franco-Prussian War.
If you are going to pull that line at least recognize the joke when you see it
Congrats on your illusory correlations.
Then was the Fourth Republic not France? Or the Republic of China not China? Or is the pre-1945 Empire of Japan not Japan? if you strictly mean the Federal Republic of Germany, then Germany has never lost and only won, since the Federal Republic of Germany has taken part in three wars (the kosovo war, the Bosnian war and the afghanistan war), two of which were victories and one which ahs yet to be concluded.
>Republic of Texas=/= United States of America
Because Texas only includes a portion of the land that would form the United States of America.
>the Confederacy (viewed by everyone but the US as its own nation)
That's not exactly true, a crucial part of the politics surrounding the US Civil War is that the Confederacy was never granted official recognition of its independence by powers like Great Britain, which would have come with perks like ambassadorial privileges and whatnot.
>freed the fuck out you
Actually, you never freed Germany, since the German Empire and Nazi Germany =/= Federal Republic of Germany. You never freed Japan either, since the Japanese Empire =/= Japan
How so? There would be no reason to think of the Confederacy as an entirely seperate power; it was composed entirely of former American citizens on land claimed by the US. I'm interested in seeing the basis of your logic, because nothing in the sources I've read seems to indicate that there was a cultural bias towards recognition of the Confederacy in Europe, otherwise the Confederates would have had a much easier time getting it.
