Some artists are somewhat assholes about it locking art behind paywalls to never be seen unless you pay the right tier at exactly the right time with no way to get it otherwise, ever again. (Such as bootyelectric) So even patrons would like to have the art shared to see some of the stuff they missed.

Personally, I share because others have shared. I do it as a form of thank you to people like the Maz anon because I can't give $20-50 to every artist every month to get all of the stuff available that month and only that month, and would like to see the art from some other artists.

Most of the people here aren't going to pay anyway, so it's not exactly costing money from the artist anyway. And besides, if they actually see some of the art rather than having everything locked behind a paywall (such as Anma with even having to pay to see sketches), then maybe someone, somewhere will like what they see enough to subscribe, sort of like free advertising. Though maybe I'm just being optimistic.

I'm fully aware that I don't have to share, and if I'm not wanted to, then I won't. If no one else is actively sharing anything, then I likely won't anyway.

I agree, locking down art is petty and is essentially locking down potentially more income. Yes, it'll be shared more, but surely there would be more sales rather then 1 day or a couple weeks to buy it up. Sketches, like seriously? Who the fuck purchases up half arsed and massively scribbled sketches? 15/35 bucks for 2 sketches with lines so bold, it's hard to tell what the hell the sketch is about. I normally don't condone theft from an artist, but in some cases, not so much.

bootyelectric's patreon is probably one of the most confusing shit that I had seen and put me off supporting him. every pic has five hundred variations and you have to keep picking higher tiers to see all and ONLY on that certain month and god

it doesn't help that every pic he released always had a caption of "go to this higher tier to see a different version of this pic". It makes paying for anything other than the highest tier feel crappy since you're getting bombarded by messages reminding you that you're basically paying for a shittier product.
