It got archived. It's also not in the last week of archived threads so I'm pretty sure OP can't find it easily.

Wincest still confuses me. I always thought the reason people shipped it was because there was a lack of any other significant male characters in the earlier seasons in the show. When they finally introduced Castiel, whom the writers are suggesting might have a thing for Dean, I figured that Wincest would've died with that but apparently it's as strong, if not stronger, as Destiel.

I'm actually with you in part with that. I never got why Wincest was such a big thing. But I think, the big part, is that they're always sticking together. There's all these "emotional" moments that show their vulnerability to each other, and it makes it appealing that these guys have that. They very rarely let anyone else into their world, and a lot of the times it seems like it's only them against everyone else.

Castiel might have been a huge addition to the fandom, but as it stands, I think a lot of fans refuse to go with Destiel because Wincest was there first. Moreover, we keep seeing that Sam and Dean continue to have that bond no matter what.

I sometimes see it, like I can go, "Oh, I think I can ship this." But to be honest, I saw more of a pairing with Dean and Benny, but I don't know anymore....

I think Wincest is a sign of how unhealthy the brothers' relationship actually is. With (courtesy of the writers) almost every single emotional connection either one of them has made being killed off, destroyed, or in some other way removed from the show permanently sooner or later, there's only so many places either Winchester can go to try and get some form of emotional support.
