The Prometheus legend paints Lucifer as some hero that brought man fire from the heavens an allegory for the apple from the tree of wisdom. But if you look at what had happened man became ashamed of himself he didn't get any sort of the power that God had. Before Adam named all of creation had a vast understanding off all of natures crops and fruits and afterword he was cold hungry and desperate. The exact opposite effect of what was intended.

Why would he do this? God has created Lucifer for his own purpose. Lucifer used his freewill to disobey and lead the world astray.
